देव्याश्च मंगलस्तोत्रं यः शृणोति समाहितः
Whoever listens with concentration to this auspicious hymn of the goddess,
प्रथमे पूजिता देवी शम्भुना सर्वमंगला
First, the goddess of all auspiciousness was worshipped by Śambhu.
तृतीये पूजिता भद्रा मंगलेन नृपेण च पञ्चमे मङ्गलाकांक्षैर्नरैर्मंगलचण्डिका
On the third day, Bhadrā was worshipped by the king with auspiciousness; on the fifth day, Maṅgalacaṇḍikā was worshipped by those desiring good fortune.
पूजिता प्रतिविश्वेषु विश्वेशैः पूजिता सदा
She is always worshipped in every world by the lords of the universe.
देवादिभिश्च मुनिभिर्मनुभिर्मानवैर्मुने 2.44.
She is worshipped by gods and others, by sages, ancestors, and humans, O sage.
तन्मंगलं भवेच्छश्वन्न भवेत्तदमंगलम्
That which is auspicious belongs to her; that which is inauspicious does not.
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्त्ते महापुराणे द्वितीये प्रकृतिखण्डे नारदनारायणसंवादे मङ्गलोपाख्याने तत्स्तोत्रादिकथनं नाम चतुश्चत्वारिंशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the forty-fourth chapter, entitled 'The Account of the Hymn and Other Matters in the Story of Maṅgala,' in the dialogue between Nārada and Nārāyaṇa, in the section on Prakṛti, in the great Purāṇa Śrī Brahmavaivarta.
नारायण उवाच श्रूयतां मनसाख्यानं यच्छ्रुतं धर्मवक्त्रतः
Nārāyaṇa said: Listen to the story of Manasā, as heard from the mouth of Dharma.
कन्या भगवती सा च कश्यपस्य च मानसी
That goddess Kanyā is the mind-born daughter of Kaśyapa.
मनसा ध्यायते या वा परमात्मानमीश्वरम्
She who meditates with her mind upon the Supreme Self, the Lord.
आत्मारामा च सा देवी वैष्णवी सिद्धयोगिनी
That goddess delights in her own self, is Vaiṣṇavī, and is a perfected yoginī.
जरत्कारुशरीरं च दृष्ट्वा यां क्षणमीश्वरः
Seeing the body of Jaratkāru, the Lord, for a moment—
वाञ्छितं च ददौ तस्यै कृपया च कृपानिधिः
—the treasure of compassion, out of mercy, granted her desire.
स्वर्गे च नागलोके च पृथिव्यां बह्मलोकतः
In heaven, in the world of serpents, on earth, and in Brahmaloka—
जगद्गौरीति विख्याता तेन सा पूजिता सती
—she is known as Jagadgaurī, and thus is worshipped, being virtuous.
विष्णुभक्ताऽतीव रम्या वैष्णवी तेन नारद
She is a devotee of Viṣṇu, exceedingly lovely, and thus called Vaiṣṇavī, O Nārada.
नागेश्वरीति विख्याता सा नागभगिनी तथा 2.45.१
She is also known as Nāgeśvarī, the sister of the serpents.
महाज्ञानयुतां तां च प्रवदन्ति मनीषिणः
The wise declare her to be endowed with great knowledge.
आस्तीकमाता विख्याता जरत्कारुरिति स्म सा
She is known as Āstīka's mother, and is called Jaratkāru.
योगिनो विश्वपूज्यस्य जरत्कारोः प्रिया ततः
Therefore, she is the beloved of Jaratkāru, who is worshipped by yogins everywhere.
ॐ नमो मनसायै वैष्णवी नागभगिनी शैवी नागेश्वरी तथा
Om, obeisance to Manasā, the Vaiṣṇavī, sister of the Nāgas, also Śaivī and Nāgeśvarī.
जरत्कारुप्रियाऽऽस्तीकमाता विषहरीति च
Beloved of Jaratkāru, mother of Āstīka, and known as the remover of poison.
द्वादशैतानि नामानि पूजाकाले च यः पठेत्
Whoever recites these twelve names at the time of worship—
नागभीदे च शयने नागग्रस्ते च मन्दिरे
—whether in fear of serpents, while lying down, or when afflicted by serpents, or in a temple—
इदं स्तोत्रं पठित्वा तु मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
—having recited this hymn, is freed; there is no doubt of this.
दशलक्षजपेनैव स्तोत्रसिद्धिर्भवेन्नृणाम् 2.45.
By reciting it one hundred thousand times, the perfection of the hymn is attained by people.
नागौघं भूषणं कृत्वा स भवेन्नागवाहनः
Having made a multitude of serpents into an ornament, he becomes one whose vehicle is a serpent.
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्त्ते महापुराणे द्वितीये प्रकृतिखण्डे नारदनारायणसंवादे मनसोपाख्याने मनसास्तोत्रादिक थनं नाम पञ्चचत्वारिंशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the forty-fifth chapter, named 'The Section on the Hymn to Manasā,' in the narrative of Manasā, in the dialogue between Nārada and Nārāyaṇa, in the Prakṛti section of the great Purāṇa, Śrī Brahmavaivarta.
नारायण उवाच ध्यानं च सामवेदोक्तं देवीपूजाविधानकम्
Nārāyaṇa said: The meditation as spoken in the Sāma Veda, and the procedure for worshipping the goddess—
श्वेतचम्पकवर्णाभां रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
—her radiance like a white campaka flower, adorned with jeweled ornaments—
