ज्येष्ठशुक्लचतुर्दश्यां सावित्रीं यो हि पूजयेत्
Whoever worships Savitri on the fourteenth day of the bright fortnight in Jyeshtha,
पुनर्महीं समागत्य श्रीमानतुलविक्रमः 2.27.
having returned again to earth, becomes endowed with great valor and honor.
माघस्य शुक्लपञ्चम्यां पूजयेद्यः सरस्वतीम्
Whoever worships Sarasvati on the fifth day of the bright fortnight in Magha,
महीयते स वैकुण्ठे यावद्ब्रह्मदिवानिशम्
he is honored in Vaikuntha for as long as the days and nights of Brahma endure.
गां सुवर्णादिकं यो हि ब्राह्मणाय ददाति च
Whoever gives a cow, gold, or similar gifts to a Brahmana,
गवां लोमप्रमाणाब्दं द्विगुणं विष्णुमन्दिरे
for a period equal to the number of hairs on the cow, doubled, in the temple of Vishnu,
ततः पुनरिहागत्य विष्णुभक्तिं लभेद्ध्रुवम् गोमांश्च पुत्रवान्विद्वाञ्ज्ञानवान्सर्वतः सुखी
then, having returned here again, he surely attains devotion to Vishnu; he becomes possessed of cows, sons, wisdom, and happiness in every way.
भोजयेद्यो हि मिष्टान्नं ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च भारते
Whoever feeds sweet food to Brahmanas in Bharata,
ततः पुनरिहागत्य स सुखी धनवान्भवेत्
Then, returning here again, he becomes happy and wealthy.
यो वक्ति वा ददात्येव हरेर्नामानि भारते
Whoever speaks or gives the names of Hari in the land of Bharata,
ततः पुनरिहागत्य विष्णुभक्तिं लभेद्ध्रुवम्
Then, returning here again, he surely attains devotion to Vishnu.
नाम्नां कोटिं हरेर्यो हि क्षेत्रे नारायणे जपेत् 2.27.
Whoever recites a crore of Hari’s names at the holy place of Narayana,
लभते न पुनर्जन्म वैकुण्ठे स महीयते
He does not take birth again and is honored in Vaikuntha.
यः शिवं पूजयेन्नित्यं कृत्वा लिङ्गं च पार्थिवम्
Whoever worships Shiva daily, having made a linga of earth,
मृदां रेणुप्रमाणाब्दं शिवलोके महीयते
Equal to the measure of dust for a year, he is honored in Shiva’s world.
शिलां च योऽर्चयेन्नित्यं शिलातोयं च भक्षति
And whoever worships a stone daily and eats water from the stone,
ततो लब्ध्वा पुनर्जन्म हरिभक्तिं सुदुर्लभाम्
Then, having obtained rebirth, he attains the exceedingly rare devotion to Hari.
तपांसि चैव सर्वाणि व्रतानि निखिलानि च
All austerities and all vows as well,
ततो लब्ध्वा पुनर्जन्म राजेन्द्रो भारते भवेत्
Then, having obtained rebirth, he becomes a king in Bharata.
यः स्नाति सर्वर्तीर्थेषु भुवि कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणम्
Whoever bathes at all the holy places on earth, having performed circumambulation,
पुण्यक्षेत्रे भारते च योऽश्वमेधं करोति च
And whoever performs an Ashvamedha sacrifice in a sacred place in Bharata,
चतुर्गुणं राजसूये फलमाप्नोति मानवः 2.27.
A man obtains four times the fruit in a Rajasuya sacrifice.
पुत्रेष्टौ च तदर्धं च सुपुत्रं च लभेद्ध्रुवम्
And in the Putreshti sacrifice, he obtains half that, and surely a good son.
तत्समानं च विप्रेष्टौ वृद्धियागे च तत्फलम्
The same result is obtained in the Vipreshti and in the Vṛddhiyāga sacrifice.
विशोके च विशोकं च पद्मार्द्धं स्वर्गमश्नुते
And in the Viśoka and Viśoka sacrifices, he enjoys half the merit of a Padma and heaven.
प्राजापत्ये प्रजालाभो भूवृद्धिर्भूभृतां भवेत् ऋद्धियागे महैश्वर्यं स्वर्गं पद्मसमं भवेत्
In the Prajapatya, one obtains offspring; for the rulers of the earth, increase of land; in the Ṛddhiyāga, great prosperity; and in heaven, a result equal to the Padma.
विष्णुयज्ञः प्रधानं च सर्वयज्ञेषु सुन्दरि
O beautiful one, among all sacrifices, the Viṣṇu sacrifice is foremost.
बभूव कलहो यत्र दक्षशङ्करयोः सति
Where there was discord between Dakṣa and Śaṅkara, O Sati,
यतो हेतोर्दक्षयज्ञं बभञ्ज चन्द्रशेखरः
For that reason, Candraśekhara broke the sacrifice of Dakṣa.
धर्मश्च कश्यपश्चैव शेषश्चापि च कर्दमः
Dharma, Kaśyapa, Śeṣa, and Kardama,
