सालंकृतां च भोग्यां च सवस्त्रां सुन्दरीं प्रियाम्
A beautiful beloved, adorned, enjoyable, and clothed,
महीयते चन्द्रलोके यावदिन्द्राश्चतुर्दश
He is honored in the realm of the moon as long as the fourteen Indras exist.
ततो गन्धर्वलोके च वर्षाणामयुतं सति
Then, in the realm of the Gandharvas, for ten thousand years,
ततो जन्मसहस्रं च प्राप्नोति सुन्दरीं प्रियाम् 2.27.
After that, for a thousand births, he obtains a beautiful beloved.
ददाति सफलं वृक्षं ब्राह्मणाय च यो नरः
Whoever gives a fruitful tree to a Brahmin,
पुनः स्वयोनिं संप्राप्य लभते सुतमुत्तमम्
Again, attaining his own birth, he obtains an excellent son.
केवलं फलदानं च ब्राह्मणाय ददाति यः
Whoever gives only fruit as a gift to a brāhmaṇa,
नानाद्रव्यसमायुक्तं नानासस्यसमन्वितम्
Not accompanied by various other items, nor endowed with diverse grains,
कुबेरलोके वसति स च मन्वन्तरावधि
He dwells in the realm of Kubera until the end of a manvantara.
यो जनः सस्यसंयुक्तां भूमिं च रुचिरां सति
But the person who gives land, beautiful and rich with crops,
महीयते स वैकुण्ठे मन्वन्तरशतं ध्रुवम्
He is honored in Vaikuṇṭha for a hundred manvantaras, certainly.
तं न त्यजति भूमिश्च जन्मनां शतकं परम्
The earth does not abandon him for a hundred excellent births.
सप्रजं च प्रकृष्टं च ग्रामं दद्याद्द्विजातये
Whoever gives a village, complete with people and prosperity, to a twice-born,
पुनः स्वयोनिं संप्राप्य ग्रामलक्षं लभेद्ध्रुवम् 2.27.
After attaining his own birth again, he surely obtains a hundred thousand villages.
सप्रजं सुप्रकृष्टं च पञ्चसस्यसमन्वितम्
Who gives a village, complete with people, very prosperous, and endowed with five kinds of crops,
नगरं यश्च विप्राय ददाति भारते भुवि
And whoever gives a city to a brāhmaṇa on the land of Bhārata,
पुनः स्वयोनिं संप्राप्य राजेन्द्रो भारते भवेत्
After attaining his own birth again, he becomes a king in Bhārata.
धरा तं न जहात्येव जन्मनां नियुतं ध्रुवम्
The earth certainly does not abandon him for ten million births.
नगराणां च शतकं देशं यो हि द्विजातये
Whoever gives a hundred cities or a country to a twice-born,
वापीतडागसंयुक्तं नानावृक्षसमन्वितम्
Endowed with ponds, tanks, and various kinds of trees,
पुनः स्वयोनिं संप्राप्य जम्बूद्वीपपतिर्भवेत्
After attaining his own birth again, he becomes the lord of Jambūdvīpa.
मही तं न जहात्येव जन्मनां कोटिमेव च
The earth certainly does not abandon him for a crore of births.
जम्बूद्वीपं यो ददाति ब्राह्मणाय पतिव्रते 2.27.
Whoever gives Jambūdvīpa to a brāhmaṇa or a devoted wife,
सप्तद्वीपमहीदातुः सर्वतीर्थानुसेविनः
Who gives the earth of the seven continents and serves at all holy places,
सर्वदानप्रदातुश्च सर्वसिद्धेश्वरस्य च
Of the giver of all gifts and the lord of all perfections,
असंख्यब्रह्मणा पातं पश्यन्ति वैष्णवाः सति
Vaishnavas, while alive, witness the fall of countless Brahmas.
विष्णुमन्त्रोपासकश्च विहाय मानवीं तनुम्
One who worships Vishnu with mantra, abandoning the human body,
लब्ध्वा विष्णोश्च सारूप्यं विष्णुसेवां करोति च
Having attained likeness to Vishnu, serves Vishnu thereafter.
नश्यन्ति देवाः सिद्धाश्च विश्वानि निखिलानि च
The gods, the perfected beings, and all the worlds perish,
कार्त्तिके तुलसीदानं करोति हरये च यः
Whoever offers tulasi to Hari in the month of Karttika,
