O Nārada, Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī, Gaṅgā, and also Tulasī—
immediately from her body arose the river Gaṇḍakī.
There, O sage, insects create many kinds of stones.
Those found on land are known as piṅgalā, afflicted by Hari.
Nārada said: I have not heard the method of her worship or her hymn.
By whom was she first worshipped and praised, O sage?
Sūta said: He began to narrate the ancient, meritorious story.
Nārāyaṇa said: He made her equal to Ramā in fortune and with honor.
Lakṣmī and Gaṅgā endured her new union.
She, proud, struck her in a quarrel in the presence of Hari.
The goddess, sovereign of all accomplishments, wise, and a perfected yoginī.
Hari, not seeing Tulasī, instructed Sarasvatī.
Going there and bathing, he worshipped the faithful Tulasī with Tulasī.
The ten-syllable mantra, beginning with the seeds of Lakṣmī, Māyā, Kāma, and Vāṇī—
"Śrīṃ hrīṃ klīṃ aiṃ vṛndāvanyai svāhā"—one who worships with the proper method attains all accomplishments.
With a lamp of ghee, incense, vermilion, and sandalwood—
Pleased by the hymn to Hari, she appeared from the tree.
Viṣṇu granted her a boon: 'Be worshipped throughout the world.'
All the gods and others will themselves bear you upon their heads.
Nārada said: O most fortunate one, please explain to me also about Tulasī.
Nārāyaṇa said: Hari, tormented by separation, worshipped and praised Tulasī.
The Blessed Lord said: Therefore, the wise know Vṛndā as dear to me, and I worship her.
She who was the goddess in ancient times, at first in the forest of Vṛndāvana,
She who has been constantly worshipped in countless universes,
By whom countless worlds are always made pure,
Without whom the gods are not satisfied, even with heaps of flowers,
By whose mere attainment, with devotion, there is surely joy in all the worlds,
There is no equal to that goddess in all the worlds,
She who is the very form of Kṛṣṇa’s life, eternally the most beloved and chaste,
Having thus offered this praise, the Lord of Lakṣmī stood there.
