He is as if bathed in all the sacred waters and initiated in all sacrifices.
Whatever merit is gained by all gifts or by circumambulating the earth—
All the sacred places desire his touch.
When one recites the four Vedas or performs austerities,
Whoever daily partakes of the water from the Śālagrāma stone,
All the sacred places long for his touch.
There itself, together with Hari, countless material elements dissolve.
Whatever sins there are, including the killing of a Brāhmaṇa and others,
By the dust of his lotus feet, the earth is instantly purified.
Whoever obtains water from the Śālagrāma stone at the time of death,
Attains liberation and release from the fruits of actions.
Whoever, holding the Śālagrāma stone, speaks falsehood,
Whoever, after touching the Śālagrāma stone, does not keep his vow,
Whoever breaks a tulasī leaf for use in the Śālagrāma worship,
Whoever breaks a tulasī leaf for use in a conch,
Śālagrāma, tulasī, and conch—if all three are together in one place,
Whoever, even once, deposits semen in any of these,
You are dear to Śaṃkhacūḍa for the duration of a single manvantara.
Having spoken thus, Śrī Hari respectfully ceased.
Just as Śrī herself, so too did she dwell upon Hari's chest.
O Nārada, Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī, Gaṅgā, and also Tulasī—
immediately from her body arose the river Gaṇḍakī.
There, O sage, insects create many kinds of stones.
Those found on land are known as piṅgalā, afflicted by Hari.
Nārada said: I have not heard the method of her worship or her hymn.
By whom was she first worshipped and praised, O sage?
Sūta said: He began to narrate the ancient, meritorious story.
Nārāyaṇa said: He made her equal to Ramā in fortune and with honor.
Lakṣmī and Gaṅgā endured her new union.
She, proud, struck her in a quarrel in the presence of Hari.
