अधुना राधिकाशापाद्भारते दानवेश्वरः
Now, because of Rādhikā’s curse, the lord of the Dānavas is in Bhārata.
सालोक्यसार्ष्टिसारूप्यसामीप्यैक्यं हरेरपि 2.18.
Even the states of sharing the same world, opulence, form, nearness, or oneness with Hari—
ब्रह्मत्वममरत्वं वा तुच्छं मेने च वैष्णवः
Brahmahood or immortality was regarded as insignificant by the devotee of Vishnu.
कृष्णभक्तस्य ते किं वा देवानां विषये भ्रमे
What value is there for you, a devotee of Krishna, in wandering among the domains of the gods?
सुखं स्वराज्ये त्वं तिष्ठ देवास्सन्तु स्वके पदे
Remain happily in your own sovereignty; let the gods stay in their own positions.
यानि कानि च पापानि ब्रह्महत्यादिकानि च
Whatever sins there are, even those like the killing of a Brahmin—
स्वसम्पदां च हानिं च यदि राजेन्द्र मन्यसे
And if, O king of kings, you consider the loss of your own wealth—
ब्रह्मणश्च तिरोभावो लये प्राकृतिके सति
And the disappearance of Brahma occurs when the cosmic dissolution takes place.
ज्ञानं बुद्धिश्च तपसा स्मृतिर्लोकस्य निश्चितम्
Knowledge, intellect, and asceticism, as well as memory, are certainly established in the world.
परिपूर्णतमो धर्मः सत्ये सत्याश्रयः सदा
The most complete dharma is always based on truth and supported by truth.
एकभागः कलेः पूर्वे तद्ध्रासश्च क्रमेण च
In the previous age, only one part of Kali existed, and its decline happened gradually.
यादृक्तेजो रवेर्ग्रीष्मे न तादृक्शिशिरे पुनः 2.18.
The radiance of the sun in summer is not the same as in winter.
उदयं याति कालेन बाल्यतां च क्रमेण च
With time, it rises, and likewise, childhood comes gradually.
दिने प्रच्छन्नतां याति काले वै दुर्दिने घने
During the day, it becomes obscured; in due time, on a dense, cloudy day.
परिपूर्णतमश्चन्द्रः पूर्णिमायां च यादृशः।। । तादृशो न भवेन्नित्यं क्षयं याति दिनेदिने
The full moon is complete on the night of the full moon, but it does not remain so always; it wanes day by day.
पुनः स पुष्टतां याति परकुह्वा दिनेदिने
Again, it regains fullness, increasing day by day after the new moon.
राहुग्रस्ते दिने म्लानो दुर्दिने निबिडे घने
On a day eclipsed by Rahu, in gloomy weather, when the sky is densely clouded, the moon appears faded.
भविष्यति बलिश्चेन्द्रो भ्रष्टश्रीः सुतलेऽधुना
But in the future, the moon will regain its strength; now, its splendor has fallen to the netherworld.
काले जले निमग्ना सा तिरोभूता विपद्गता
In time, she was submerged in water, disappeared, and fell into misfortune.
चराचराश्च कालेन नश्यन्ति प्रभवन्ति च
All moving and unmoving beings perish and arise again in due course.
अहं मृत्युञ्जयो यस्मादसंख्यं प्राकृतं लयम्
I am the conqueror of death, for countless dissolutions of nature have occurred.
स च प्रकृतिरूपश्च स एव पुरुषः स्मृतः 2.18.
He is the form of nature, and he is also remembered as the Purusha.
करोति सततं यो हि तन्नामगुणकीर्त्तनम्
Whoever constantly recites the names and qualities of that One,
स्रष्टा कृतो विधिस्तेन पाता विष्णुः कृतो भवे
By him, the creator was made as Brahma, the protector as Vishnu, and the world came into being.
कालाग्निरुद्रं संहारे नियुज्य विषये नृप
He appointed Rudra as the fire of time for destruction, within the domain, O king.
तेन मृत्युञ्जयोऽहं च ज्ञानेनानेन निर्भयः
Therefore, I am the conqueror of death, and by this knowledge, I am fearless.
इत्युक्त्वा स च सर्वेशः सर्वज्ञः सर्वभावनः
Having spoken thus, the Lord of all, omniscient and the creator of all beings,
राजा तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा प्रशशंस पुनः पुनः
The king, having heard those words, praised him again and again.
शंखचूड उवाच तथाऽपि किञ्चिद्यत्सत्यं श्रूयतां मन्निवेदनम्
Shankhachuda said: Still, let something true be heard—my submission.
ज्ञातिद्रोहे महत्पापं त्वयोक्तमधुना त्रयम्
You have now spoken of three great sins in the betrayal of kin.
