स्थाने स्थानेऽतिरम्ये च पुष्पोद्यानेऽतिनिर्जने
In each delightful place, in every secluded flower garden,
पुष्पभद्रानदीतीरे नीरवातमनोहरे
On the bank of the auspicious river, where the air was still and enchanting,
मधौ मधुकराणां च मधुरध्वनिनादिते
In spring, filled with the sweet sounds of bees,
देवोद्याने देववने चित्रे चन्दनकानने
In the divine garden, the divine forest, and the beautiful sandalwood grove,
कुन्दानां मालतीनां च कुमुदाम्भोजकानने
In the groves of jasmine, mālatī, and lotus flowers,
निर्जने काञ्चनीस्थाने धन्ये काञ्चनपर्वते
In a secluded golden place, on the blessed golden mountain,
पुष्पचन्दनतल्पे च पुंस्कोकिलरुतश्रुते 2.16.
On a bed of flowers and sandalwood, where the calls of male cuckoos were heard,
कामुक्या कामुकः कामात्स रेमे रामया सह
The lover, driven by desire, enjoyed with his beloved Rāma.
हविषा कृष्णवर्त्मेव ववृधे मदनस्तयोः
With offerings, the path of Krishna flourished, and passion grew between the two.
रम्यं क्रीडालयं कृत्वा विजहार पुनस्ततः
Creating a delightful place for play, he again enjoyed himself there.
एकमन्वन्तरं पूर्णं राजराजेश्वरो बली
For a full Manvantara, the mighty king of kings ruled.
गन्धर्वाणां किन्नराणां राक्षसानां च शास्तिदः
He governed the Gandharvas, Kinnaras, and Rakshasas.
पूजाहोमादिकं तेषां जहार विषयं बलात्
He forcibly took away their domain of worship, offerings, and the like.
निरुद्यमाः सुराः सर्वे चित्रपुत्तलिका यथा
All the gods became inactive, like painted dolls.
वृत्तान्तं कथयामासू रुरुदुश्च भृशं मुहुः
They narrated the events and wept bitterly again and again.
सर्वं संकथयामास विधाता चन्द्रशेखरम्
The Creator recounted everything to Chandrasekhara.
सुदुर्लभं परं धाम जरामृत्युहरं परम् 2.16.
He beheld the supreme, exceedingly rare abode, which removes old age and death.
ददर्श द्वारपालांश्च रत्नसिंहासनस्थितान्
He saw the gatekeepers seated upon jeweled thrones.
वनमालान्वितान्सर्वान्श्यामसुन्दरविग्रहान्
He saw them all adorned with garlands from the forest, with forms dark and beautiful.
सस्मितान्पद्मवक्त्रांश्च पद्मनेत्रान्मनोहरान्
He saw them smiling, with lotus-shaped faces and enchanting lotus eyes.
तेऽनुज्ञां च ददुस्तस्मै प्रविवेश तदाज्ञया
They gave him permission, and by their command he entered.
देवः सार्द्धं तानतीत्य प्रविवेश हरेः सभाम्
The god, together with them, entered the assembly of Hari.
नारायणस्वरूपैश्च सर्वैः कौस्तुभभूषितैः

Exquisitely prepared throughout, perfumed by fragrant breezes.
