पुनरेव तु गच्छन्तमागच्छन्तं वसन्तकम्
Again, she saw Vasantaka coming and going.
पुनः स्वचेतनां प्राप्य विललाप पुनः पुनः
Regaining her own consciousness, she lamented again and again.
शङ्खचूडो महायोगी जैगीषव्यान्मनोरमम्
Shankhachuda, the great yogi, delightful to the Jaigishavyas,
पठन्सदा तु कवचं सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गलम्
Always recited the protective hymn, the auspicious among all auspicious things.
आज्ञया ब्रह्मणः सोऽपि बदरीं वै समाययौ
By Brahma's command, he too arrived at Badari.
नवयौवनसम्पन्नं कामदेवसमप्रभम्
He was endowed with youthful vigor, radiant like Kamadeva.
श्वेतचम्पकवर्णाभं रत्नभूषणभूषितम्
He shone with the hue of white champaka flowers and was adorned with jeweled ornaments.
महारत्नगणाक्लृप्तविमानस्थं मनोहरम्
He was charming, seated in a celestial chariot fashioned from great gems.
पारिजातप्रसूनाढ्यमाल्यवन्तं च सुस्मितम् 2.16.
He wore garlands rich with parijata blossoms and smiled beautifully.
सा दृष्ट्वा सन्निधाने तं मुखमाच्छाद्य वाससा
Seeing him nearby, she covered her face with her garment.
बभूव सा नम्रमुखी नवसङ्गमलज्जिता
She became bashful, her face lowered, embarrassed by their new union.
पिबन्ती तन्मुखाम्भोजं लोचनाभ्यां च सन्ततम्
She continually drank in the lotus of his face with her eyes.
पुष्पचन्दनतल्पस्थां वसन्तीं वाससा वृताम्
She was reclining upon a bed of flowers and sandalwood, clothed in fine garments.
सुपीनकठिनश्रोणीं पीनोन्नतपयोधराम्
Her hips were full and firm, and her breasts were plump and prominently raised.
पक्वबिम्बाधरोष्ठीं च सुनासां सुन्दरीं वराम्
Her lips were like ripe bimba fruit, her nose was beautiful, and she was an exquisite woman.
स्वतेजसा परिवृतां सुखदृश्यां मनोरमाम्
Surrounded by her own radiance, she was delightful to behold and charming.
सिन्दूरबिन्दुना शश्वत्सीमन्ताधःस्थलोज्ज्वलाम्
With a vermilion mark always shining below the parting of her hair.
करपद्मतलारक्तां नखचन्द्रैर्विभूषिताम्
Her palms were red like lotus petals, adorned with crescent-shaped nails.
आरक्तवर्णं ललितमलक्तकसमप्रभम् 2.16.
Her hue was rosy, as radiant as delicate red lac.
शरदिन्दुविनिन्द्यैकनखेन्द्वोघविराजिताम्
Her nails gleamed like a cluster of moons, surpassing even the autumn moon in beauty.
मणीन्द्रमुख्यखचितक्वणन्मञ्जीररञ्जिताम्
She was adorned with anklets set with foremost jewels, their tinkling sound coloring her presence.
दधतीं कबरीभारं मालतीमाल्यसंयुतम्
She wore a mass of hair, decorated with a garland of jasmine flowers.
चित्रकुण्डलयुग्मश्रीसुषुमापरिशोभिताम्
Her beauty was enhanced by a pair of ornate earrings and exquisite ornaments.
रत्नकंकणकेयूरशंखभूषणभूषिताम्
She was adorned with bracelets, armlets, and conch ornaments made of jewels.
दृष्ट्वा तां ललितां रम्यां सुशीलां सुदतीं सतीम्
Seeing her—graceful, lovely, virtuous, with beautiful teeth, and pure—
शंखचूड उवाच का त्वं कामिनि कल्याणि सर्वकल्याणदायिनि
Shankhachuda spoke: Who are you, O beautiful and auspicious lady, giver of all blessings?
स्वर्गभोगादिसरितिविहारे हाररूपिणि
You who delight in heavenly pleasures and rivers, and whose form is adorned with necklaces.
इत्येवं वचनं श्रुत्वा सकामा वामलोचना 2.16.
Hearing these words, the desirous woman with lovely eyes—
तुलस्युवाच तपस्विनीह तिष्ठामि कस्त्वं गच्छ यथासुखम्
Tulasi spoke: I am an ascetic, staying here; who are you? Go as you please.
कामिनीं कुलजातां च रहस्येकाकिनीं सतीम्
A woman, born in a noble family, alone in a secluded place, and virtuous.
