सर्वं तत्सामवेदोक्तं पुरश्चर्य्याक्रमं तथा
All of that was as spoken in the Sāma Veda, along with the prescribed sequence of rites.
लक्ष्मीः सरस्वती गंगा तुलसी विश्वपावनी 2.11.
Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī, Gaṅgā, and Tulasī are the purifiers of the universe.
अथ तं सस्मितः कृष्णो ब्रह्माणं समुवाच ह
Then Kṛṣṇa, smiling, spoke to Brahmā.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच शृणु कालस्य वृत्तान्तं यदतीतं निशामय
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: Listen to the account of time; hear what has passed.
यूयं च येऽन्यदेवाश्च मुनयो मनवस्तथा
You, and the other gods, the sages, and likewise the Manus—
ते ते जीवन्ति गोलोके कालचक्र विवर्जिते
Each of them lives in Goloka, where the wheel of time does not exist.
ब्रह्माद्या येऽन्यविश्वस्थास्ते लीना अधुना मयि
Those like Brahmā and others who dwell in other worlds are now absorbed in Me.
गत्वा सृष्टिं कुरु पुनर्ब्रह्मलोकादिकं परम्
Go, create again the worlds, beginning with Brahmaloka and beyond.
एवमन्येषु विश्वेषु सृष्ट्वा ब्रह्मादिकं पुनः
Thus, in other universes, after creating again Brahmā and the rest—
मच्चक्षुषोर्निमेषेण ब्रह्मणः पतनं भवेत्
In the blink of My eyes, the fall of Brahmā takes place.
इत्युक्त्वा राधिकानाथो जगामान्तःपुरं मुने
Having spoken thus, the Lord of Rādhikā went to the inner chambers, O sage.
गोलोके च स्थिता गंगा वैकुण्ठे शिवलोकके 2.11.
Gaṅgā remained in Goloka, in Vaikuṇṭha, and in Śivaloka.
तत्रैव सा गता गंगा चाज्ञया परमात्मनः
There itself Gaṅgā went, by the command of the Supreme Self.
इत्येवं कथितं सर्वं गंगोपाख्यानमुत्तमम्
Thus has the entire excellent story of Gaṅgā been told.
नारद उवाच एता नारायणस्यैव चतस्रश्च प्रिया इति
Nārada said: These four are indeed the beloved ones of Nārāyaṇa.
गंगा जगाम वैकुण्ठमिदमेव श्रुतं मया
Gaṅgā went to Vaikuṇṭha—this alone I have heard.
नारायण उवाच गत्वोवाच तया सार्द्धं प्रणम्य जगदीश्वरम्
Nārāyaṇa said: Having gone together with her, he bowed to the Lord of the universe.
ब्रह्मोवाच तदधिष्ठातृदेवीयं रूपेणाप्रतिमा भुवि
Brahmā said: This goddess, the presiding deity, is unparalleled in form upon the earth.
नवयौवनसम्पन्ना सुशीला सुन्दरी वरा
She is endowed with fresh youth, virtuous, beautiful, and excellent.
यदङ्गसम्भवा नान्यं वृणोतीयं च तं विना
Born from his body, she chooses none other but him alone.
समुद्यता पातुमिमां भीतेयं बुद्धिपूर्वकम्
She is prepared to drink this, fearful and with deliberation.
सर्वं विशुष्कं गोलोकं दृष्ट्वाऽहमगमं तदा
Seeing Goloka entirely dried up, I then arrived there.
सर्वान्तरात्मा सर्वं नो ज्ञात्वाऽभिप्रायमेव च
Knowing everything, the inner soul of all, and their intentions as well.
दत्त्वाऽस्यै राधिकामन्त्रं पूरयित्वा च गोलकम् 2.12.
Having given her the Rādhikā mantra and having filled Goloka.
गान्धर्वेण विवाहेन गृहाणेमां सुरेश्वरीम्
With a Gandharva marriage, accept this goddess, ruler of the gods.
पुंरत्नं पुंसु देवेषु स्त्रीरत्नं स्त्रीष्वियं सती
Among gods, the best jewel among men; among women, she is the best jewel, the virtuous one.
उपस्थितां च यः कन्यां न गृह्णाति मदेन च
He who, out of pride, does not accept the maiden who is present.
यो भवेत्पण्डितः सोऽपि प्रकृतिं नावमन्यते
Even one who is learned does not disregard nature.
त्वमेव भगवा नाद्यो निर्गुणः प्रकृतेः परः
You alone, O Lord, are the beginningless, attributeless, beyond nature.
कृष्णवामांगसम्भूता परमा राधिका पुरा
Rādhikā, supreme, was formerly born from the left side of Kṛṣṇa.
