डाकिन्यश्चैव योगिन्यः क्षेत्रपालाः सहस्रशः
Thousands of ḍākinīs, yoginīs, and guardians of sacred places.
सुरास्त्रिकोटिसंख्याता दिव्यमूर्तिधरावराः
Countless divine beings, numbering in tens of millions, bearing celestial forms.
सौतिरुवाच नारायणाय प्रददौ रत्नेन्द्रं मालया सह
Sauti said: He gave the lord of jewels, along with a garland, to Nārāyaṇa.
सावित्रीं ब्रह्मणे प्रादान्मूर्तिं धर्माय सादरम्
He gave Sāvitrī to Brahmā, and respectfully gave a form to Dharma.
अन्याश्च या या अन्यभ्यो याश्च येभ्यः समुद्भवाः
And all those others, whatever forms arose for others, he gave to those to whom they belonged.
ततः शंकरमाहूय सर्वेशो योगिनां गुरुम्
Then, having summoned Śaṃkara, the lord of all, the guru of yogis.
श्रीकृष्णस्य वचः श्रुत्वा प्रहसन्नीललोहितः
Hearing the words of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Nīlalohita smiled.
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच त्वद्भक्त्यैकव्यवहितां दास्यमार्गविरोधिनीम्
Śrī Maheśvara said: That which is exclusively devoted to your worship, opposed to the path of servitude.
तत्त्वज्ञानसमाच्छन्नां योगद्वारकपाटिकाम्
Concealed by the appearance of knowledge of reality, she is the door-keeper at the gateway of yoga.
तपस्याच्छन्नरूपां च महामोहकरण्डिकाम्
Her form is hidden by austerity, and she is the casket of great delusion.
शश्वद्विबुद्धिजननीं सद्बुद्धिच्छेदकारिणीम्
She is ever the mother of discernment, yet she acts as the destroyer of good understanding.
नेच्छामि गृहिणीं नाथ वरं देहि मदीप्सितम् 1.6.
O Lord, I do not desire a wife; grant me instead the boon I truly wish for.
त्वद्भक्तिविषये दास्ये लालसा वर्द्धतेऽनिशम्
My longing for service in devotion to you increases unceasingly.
त्वन्नामपञ्चवक्त्रेण गुणं सन्मङ्गलालयम्
With five mouths I wish to recite your name, the abode of all virtues and auspiciousness.
आकल्पकोटिकोटिं च तद्रूपध्यानतत्परम्
For countless millions of aeons, let my mind be absorbed in meditation on that form.
त्वत्सेवने पूजने च वन्दने नाम कीर्तने
In your service, in worship, in salutation, and in singing your name—
स्मरणं कीर्त्तनं नाम गुणयोः श्रवणं जपः
In remembrance, in praise, in chanting your name and qualities, in hearing, and in recitation—
समर्पणं चात्मनश्च नित्यं नैवेद्यभोजनम्
In the offering of myself and in the daily meal consecrated to you—
सार्ष्टिसालोक्यसारूप्यसामीप्यं साम्यलीनताम्
May I attain your realm, your world, your likeness, your nearness, and absorption into your being.
अणिमालघिमाप्राप्तिः प्राकाम्यं महिमा तथा
The powers of minuteness, lightness, attainment, freedom of will, and greatness—
सर्वज्ञ दूरश्रवणं परकायप्रवेशनम्
Omniscience, hearing at a distance, entering another's body—
अमरत्वं च सर्वाग्र्यं सिद्धयोऽष्टादश स्मृताः ।। 1.6.
Immortality, and all the highest perfections—these eighteen are remembered as the siddhis.
यशःकीर्तिर्वचः सत्यं धर्माण्यनशनानि च
Fame, glory, truthful speech, righteousness, and fasting—
सुरार्चा दर्शनं सप्तद्वीपसप्तप्रदक्षिणम्
Worship of the gods, their vision, and circumambulation of the seven continents—
ब्रह्मत्वं चैव रुद्रत्वं विष्णुत्वं च परं पदम्
Brahmahood, Rudrahood, Vishnuhood, and the supreme state—
सर्वाण्येतानि सर्वेश कथितानि च यानि च
All these, O Lord of all, and whatever else has been spoken—
शर्वस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा कृष्णस्तं योगिनां गुरुम्
Hearing the words of Śarva, Kṛṣṇa addressed that guru of yogins.
मत्सेवां कुरु सर्वेश शर्वसर्वविदांवर
Serve me, O Lord of all, best among those who know everything.
वरस्तपस्विनां त्वं च सिद्धानां योगिनां तथा
You are the boon among ascetics, likewise among the perfected and yogins.
अमरत्वं लभ भव भव मृत्युंजयो महान्
Attain immortality, become the great conqueror of death.
