जलोच्छ्वासाज्जलत्यागगृहारम्भप्रवेशने
At the rising of water, the offering of water, the beginning of house construction, and at entry into a house.
तव पूजां करिष्यन्ति संभ्रमेण सुरादयः
The gods and others will worship you with great reverence.
वसुधोवाच लीलामात्रेण भगवन्विश्वं च सचराचरम्
Vasudhā said: O Lord, by your mere play, the entire universe, both moving and unmoving, exists.
यज्ञसूत्रं च पुष्पं च पुस्तकं तुलसीदलम् 2.8.
The sacred thread of sacrifice, flowers, a book, and a leaf of tulasī.
गोरोचनां चन्दनं च शालग्रामजलं तथा
Gorocanā, sandalwood, and also water from the Śālagrāma stone.
श्रीभगवानुवाच यास्यन्ति ते कालसूत्रं दिव्यं वर्षशतं त्वयि
The Blessed Lord said: For you, a divine span of a hundred years will pass as a single thread of time.
इत्येवमुक्त्वा भगवान्विरराम च नारद
Having thus spoken, the Blessed Lord became silent, O Nārada.
पूजां चक्रुः पृथिव्याश्च ते सर्वे चाज्ञया हरेः
All of them performed worship of the earth by the command of Hari.
दद्युर्मूलेन मन्त्रेण नैवेद्यादिकमेव च
They gave, with the root mantra, offerings of food and the like.
नारद उवाच गूढं सर्वपुराणेषु श्रोतुं कौतूहलं मम
Nārada said: In all the Purāṇas this is hidden; I am eager to hear it.
नारायण उवाच ततो हि ब्रह्मणा पश्चात्ततश्च पृथुना पुरा
Nārāyaṇa said: Thereafter, by Brahmā, and then formerly by Pṛthu.
ततः सर्वैर्मुनीन्द्रैश्च मनुभिर्नारदादिभिः
Then by all the foremost sages, by the Manus, by Nārada and others.
ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं वां वसुधायै स्वाहा
Oṃ hrīṃ śrīṃ vāṃ, to Vasudhā, svāhā.
श्वेतचम्पकवर्णाभां शतचन्द्रसमप्रभाम् 2.8.
Resplendent like white campaka flowers, with the radiance of a hundred moons.
रत्नाधारां रत्नगर्भां रत्नाकरसमन्विताम्
She who is the support of jewels, filled with jewels, and endowed with the wealth of jewels.
ध्यानेनानेन सा देवी सर्वैर्वै पूजिता भवेत्
By this meditation, that goddess is to be worshipped by all.
विष्णुरुवाच जयेऽजये जयाधारे जयशीले जयप्रदे
Viṣṇu said: In victory and defeat, in the foundation of victory, in the nature of victory, in the bestower of victory.
सर्वाधारे सर्वबीजे सर्वशक्तिसमन्विते
O support of all, seed of all, endowed with all powers.
सर्वसस्यालये सर्वसस्याड्ये सर्वसस्यदे
O abode of all crops, O enriched with all crops, O giver of all crops.
मङ्गले मङ्गलाधारे माङ्गल्ये मङ्गलप्रदे
O auspicious one, foundation of auspiciousness, embodiment of auspiciousness, giver of auspiciousness.
भूमे भूमिपसर्वस्वे भूमिपालपरायणे
O earth, possessor of all wealth of the earth, ultimate refuge of the protectors of the earth.
इदं स्तोत्रं महापुण्यं तां संपूज्य च यः पठेत्
Whoever, having worshipped her, recites this hymn, which is of great merit,
भूमिदानकृतं पुण्यं लभते पठनाज्जनः
By reciting it, a person attains the merit of giving land.
अम्बुवीचीभूखननात्पापान्मुच्येत स ध्रुवम् 2.8.
Certainly, by digging for water or earth, one is freed from sins.
परभूश्राद्धजात्पापान्मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
There is no doubt that one is freed from sins arising from performing śrāddha on another's land.
पापेन मुच्यते प्राज्ञः स्तोत्रस्य पठनान्मुने
O sage, the wise are freed from sin by reciting the hymn.
नारद उवाच परभूमौ श्राद्धरूपं कूपे कुपदजं तथा
Nārada said: Performing śrāddha on another's land, or in a well, or that which arises from a well,
अम्बुवीचीभूखननबीजत्यागजमेव च
Or that which comes from digging for water or earth, or from abandoning seeds,
अन्यद्वा पृथिवीजन्यं पापं यत्प्रश्नतः परम्
Or any other sin arising from the earth, which is considered most severe,
नारायण उवाच सन्ध्यापूताय विप्राय स यायाद्विष्णुमन्दिरम्
Nārāyaṇa said: He should go to the temple of Viṣṇu, purified by the evening rites, for the sake of the brāhmaṇa.
