लाक्षालोहरसानां च व्यापारं लवणस्य च
They will engage in the trade of lac, iron, juices, and especially salt.
शूद्रान्नभोजिनः सर्वे सर्वे च वृषलीरताः
All will eat food of the Shudras, and all will be attached to women of low character.
यज्ञसूत्रविहीनाश्च सन्ध्याशौचविहीनकाः
They will be without sacred threads for sacrifice, and without the practices of twilight worship and purity.
पुंश्चली वार्धुषाऽवीरा कुट्टिनी च रजस्वला
Promiscuous women, barbers, outcasts, procuresses, and menstruating women—
अन्नानां निर्णयो नास्ति योनीनां च विशेषतः
There will be no distinction regarding food, especially concerning origins.
एवं कलौ संप्रवृत्ते सर्वे म्लेच्छमया भवे
Thus, when Kali has fully arisen, all will become like mlecchas.
विप्रस्य विष्णुयशसः पुत्रः कल्की भविष्यति
The son of a Brahmin, renowned for Vishnu, will be born as Kalki.
दीर्घेण करवालेन दीर्घघोटकवाहनः
He will wield a long sword and ride a long-legged horse.
निर्म्लेच्छां वसुधां कृत्वा चान्तर्द्धानं करिष्यति 2.7.
He will make the earth free of mlecchas and cause it to disappear.
स्थूलप्रमाणं षड्रात्रं वर्षाधाराप्लुता मही
For six nights, the earth, vast in measure, will be flooded with torrents of rain.
ततश्च द्वादशादित्याः करिष्यन्त्युदयं मुने
Then, O sage, the twelve suns will rise.
कलौ गते च दुर्द्धर्षे संप्रवृत्ते कृते युगे
When Kali has passed, O difficult-to-conquer one, and the Krita Yuga has begun,
तपस्विनश्च धर्मिष्ठा वेदज्ञा ब्राह्मणा भुवि
Ascetics, righteous men, and Brahmins learned in the Vedas will be present on earth.
राजानः क्षत्रियाः सर्वे विप्रभक्ताः स्वधर्मिणः
All kings and Kshatriyas will be devoted to Brahmins and true to their own duties.
वैश्या वाणिज्यनिरता विप्रभक्ताश्च धार्मिकाः
Vaishyas, engaged in trade, will also be devoted to Brahmins and righteous.
विप्रक्षत्त्रविशां वंशा विष्णुयज्ञपरायणाः
The lineages of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas will be devoted to Vishnu and sacrifice.
श्रुतिस्मृतिपुराणज्ञा धर्मज्ञा ऋतुगामिनः
They will be learned in the Vedas, Smritis, and Puranas, knowers of dharma, and observant of the seasons.
धर्मस्त्रिपाच्च त्रेतायां द्विपाच्च द्वापरे स्मृतः
In Treta Yuga, dharma stands on three feet; in Dvapara, it is remembered as standing on two.
वाराः सप्त यथा विप्र तिथयः षोडश स्मृताः 2.7.
O Brahmin, there are seven days and sixteen lunar phases, as is remembered.
द्वौ पक्षौ चायने द्वे च चतुर्भिः प्रहरैर्दिनम्
There are two fortnights and two solstices, and a day is made up of four watches.
वर्षः पञ्चविधो ज्ञेयः कालसंख्यां निबोध मे
Know that the year is of five kinds; listen to my reckoning of time.
वर्षे पूर्णे नराणां च देवानां च दिवानिशम् देवानां च युगो ज्ञेयः कालसंख्याविदां मतः
When a year is complete, for both humans and gods, day and night; the yuga of the gods is known according to those who know the reckoning of time.
मन्वन्तरं तु दिव्यानां युगानामेकसप्ततिः
A manvantara for the gods is seventy-one yugas.
अष्टाविंशतिमे चेन्द्रे गते ब्राह्मं दिवानिशम्
When the twenty-eighth Indra has passed, the day and night of Brahma occurs.
प्रलयः प्राकृतो ज्ञेयस्तत्रादृष्टा वसुन्धरा
Then, the dissolution called prākṛta is to be known; at that time, the earth is unseen.
ऋषयो जीविनः सर्वे लीनाः कृष्णे परात्परे
All the sages who are living merge into Krishna, the Supreme.
लये प्राकृतिकेऽतीते पाते च ब्रह्मणो मुने
O sage, when the primordial dissolution occurs and Brahma falls.
एवं नश्यन्ति सर्वाणि ब्रह्माण्डान्यखिलानि च
In this way, all the universes and everything within them are destroyed.
निमेषमात्रः प्रलयो यत्र विश्वं जलप्लुतम् 2.7.
There is a dissolution lasting only a moment, during which the whole world is submerged in water.
एवं कतिविधा सृष्टिर्लयः कतिविधोऽपि वा
Thus, how many kinds of creation are there, and how many kinds of dissolution as well?
