तत्रस्थां ददृशुर्देवीं रत्नालंकारभूषिताम्
There, the gods saw a goddess adorned with jewel ornaments.
तेजःस्वरूपा मतुलां मूलप्रकृतिमीश्वरीम्
Of the form of radiance, incomparable, the supreme root-nature.
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यां भक्तानुग्रहकातराम्
With a slightly smiling, gracious face, eager to show favor to devotees.
रत्नेन्द्रसाररचितक्वणन्मञ्जीररंजिताम्
Her anklets, made from the finest jewels, resounded with melodious jingling.
सद्रत्नसारकेयूरकरकंकणभूषिताम् 4.6.
She was adorned with bracelets and armlets of the best gems.
नितंबकठिनश्रोणीं पीनोन्नतकुचानताम्
Her hips were firm as silver, and her breasts full and prominent.
कज्जलोज्जलरेखाक्तशरत्पंकजलोच नाम्
Her eyes were adorned with lines of dark collyrium, resembling the mud of autumn.
मुक्तापंक्तिप्रभामुष्टदंतराजिविराजिताम्
Her shining row of teeth, radiant as a string of pearls, enhanced her beauty.
पक्षींद्रचंचुनासाग्रगजेंद्रमौक्तिकान्विताम्
Her nose-tip was graced with a pearl, like the beak of the king of birds, and she wore an elephant-pearl.
सिंहपृष्ठसमारूढां सुताभ्यां सहितां मुदा
Mounted upon a lion’s back, she was joyfully accompanied by her two daughters.
सुताभ्यां सहिता देवी समुवा स वराननाः
The goddess, together with her daughters, approached, her face radiant like a lotus.
ननाम शंकरं धर्ममनंतं कमलोद्भवम्
She bowed to Śaṅkara, to Dharma, to the endless one, and to the lotus-born.
आशिषं च ददुर्देवा वासयामासुरंतिके
The gods gave their blessings and seated her nearby.
तस्थुर्देवाः सभामध्ये देवस्य पुरतो हरेः
The gods stood in the middle of the assembly, before Hari, the Lord.
उवाच कमलां कृष्णः स्मेराननसरोरुहः 4.6.
Krishna, whose lotus-face was smiling, spoke to Kamalā.
वैदर्भ्या उदरे जन्म लभ देवि सना तनि
O goddess, take birth in the womb of the lady from Vidarbha, O eternal one.
ता देव्यः पार्वतीं दृष्ट्वा समुत्थाय त्वरान्विताः
Seeing Pārvatī, those goddesses quickly rose up.
विप्रेंद्र पार्वतीलक्ष्मीवागधिष्ठातृदेवताः
O best of Brahmins, the presiding goddesses Pārvatī, Lakṣmī, and Vāk were there.
ताश्च संभाषयामासुः संप्रीत्या गोपकन्यकाः
Those goddesses, with great delight, conversed with the cowherd maidens.
श्रीकृष्णः पार्वतीं तत्र समुवाच जगत्पतिः
There, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of the universe, spoke to Pārvatī.
उदरे च यशोदायाः कल्याणी नंदरेतसा
A blessed one will be born in the womb of Yaśodā, from the seed of Nanda.
ग्रामे ग्रामे च पूजां ते कारयिष्यामि भूतले
In every village on earth, I will have your worship performed.
तत्राधिष्ठातृदेवीं त्वां पूजयिष्यंति मानवाः
There, as the presiding goddess, you will be worshipped by people.
त्वद्भूमिस्पर्शमात्रेण सूतिकामंदिरे शिवे
O auspicious one, merely by the touch of your presence, in the birthing chamber—
कंसदर्शन मात्रेण गमिष्यसि शिवांतिकम् 4.6.
By merely seeing Kaṃsa, you will go to the presence of Śiva.
इत्युक्त्वा श्रीहरिस्तूर्णमुवाच च षडाननम्
Having spoken thus, Śrī Hari quickly addressed the six-faced one.
जांबवत्याश्च गर्भे च लभ जन्म सुरेश्वर
Take birth, O Lord of the gods, in the womb of Jāmbavatī.
भारहारं करिष्यामि वसुधायाश्च निश्चितम्
I will certainly relieve the burden of the earth.
तस्थुर्देवाश्च देव्यश्च गोपा गोप्यश्च नारद पुटांजलिर्जगत्कांतमुवाच विन यान्वितः
The gods, goddesses, cowherds, cowherd women, and Nārada stood with folded hands and, together with Vināyaka, addressed the beloved of the world.
आज्ञां कुरु महाभाग कस्य कुत्र स्थलं भुवि
Command us, O greatly fortunate one: who, where, and in what place on earth?
