Where the Śālagrāma stone is found, there Hari is present.
Whatever sins there are, including the killing of a Brahmin and others,
A form like an umbrella brings sovereignty, and in the round one, great prosperity.
If the mouth is deformed, there is poverty; in a tawny one, there is indeed loss.
Vows, charity, installation, ancestral rites, and worship of the gods—
He is as if bathed in all sacred waters, and initiated in all sacrifices.
Whatever merit is gained from all gifts, or by circumambulating the earth,
All the sacred places, indeed, desire his touch.
In the recitation of the four Vedas, and in the performance of austerities,
Whoever daily partakes of water from the Śālagrāma stone,
All the sacred places, indeed, desire his touch.
There, along with Hari, the countless ordinary ones attain dissolution.
Whatever sins there are, including the killing of a Brahmin and others,
By the dust of his lotus feet, the earth is instantly purified.
Whoever obtains water from the Śālagrāma stone at the time of death,
He attains liberation and release, freed from the results of actions.
Whoever, having taken up the Śālagrāma stone, speaks falsehood,
Whoever, having touched the Śālagrāma stone, does not fulfill an accepted vow,
Whoever cuts Tulasi leaves upon the Śālagrāma stone,
And whoever cuts Tulasi leaves upon a conch shell,
Śālagrāma, Tulasi, and the conch shell—if all three are together in one place,
Whoever, even once, deposits semen in any of these,
You are the beloved of Śaṅkhacūḍa for the duration of one Manvantara.
Having spoken thus, Śrī Hari respectfully became silent.
Just as Śrī herself, so too did she dwell upon the chest of Hari.
O Nārada, Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī, Gaṅgā, and also Tulasi—
At once, from her body, the river Gaṇḍakī came into being.
There, O sage, insects create many kinds of stones.
Those that are tawny and found on land are to be known as afflicted by Hari’s fever.
Nārada said: Why have I not heard the method of her worship and her hymn?
