Brahmavaivarta Purana
सार्द्धं सरिद्भिः श्रेष्ठाभिः सरस्वत्या दिभिः शुभे
Along with the most excellent rivers, with Sarasvati and the auspicious celestial streams,
यद्रेणुस्पर्शमात्रेण पूतो भवति पातकी
By the mere touch of your dust, even the sinful become purified.
ज्ञानेन त्वयि ये भक्त्या मन्नामस्मृतिपूर्वकम्
Those who, through knowledge and devotion to you, remember my name beforehand,
पार्षदप्रवरास्ते च भविष्यन्ति हरेश्चिरम्
They shall become the foremost attendants of Hari for a long time.
मृतस्य बहुपुण्येन तच्छवं त्वयि विन्यसेत्
When someone dies with much merit, their corpse should be placed upon you.
कायव्यूहं ततः कृत्वा भोजयित्वा स्वकर्मकम् 2.10.
After arranging the body accordingly and performing the prescribed rites,
अज्ञानी त्वज्जलस्पर्शाद्यदि प्राणान्समुत्सृजेत्
If an ignorant person gives up their life by the touch of your water,
अन्यत्र वा त्यजेत्प्राणांस्त्वन्नामस्मृतिपूर्वकम्
Or elsewhere, if one relinquishes life with remembrance of your name,
अन्यत्र वा त्यजेत्प्राणान्मन्नामस्मृतिपूर्वकम्
Or elsewhere, if one gives up life with prior remembrance of my name,
तीर्थेऽप्यतीर्थे मरणे विशेषो नास्ति कश्चन
There is no distinction at all between dying at a holy place or elsewhere.
पूतं कर्तुं स शक्तो हि लीलया भुवनत्रयम्
He is able, by his play, to purify the three worlds.
मद्भक्तबान्धवा ये ये ते ते पुण्यधियः शुभे
All those who are relatives of my devotees, O auspicious one, are virtuous-minded.
यत्र तत्र मृता ये च ज्ञानाज्ञानेन वा सति
Wherever those die, whether through knowledge or ignorance,
इत्युक्त्वा श्रीहरिस्तां च तमुवाच भगीरथम्
Having spoken thus, Shri Hari addressed Bhagiratha.
भगीरथस्तां तुष्टाव पूजयामास भक्तितः
Bhagiratha praised her and worshipped her with devotion.
श्रीकृष्णं प्रणनामाथ परमात्मानमीश्वरम् 2.10.
Then he bowed to Shri Krishna, the Supreme Soul, the Lord.
नारद उवाच पूजां चकार नृपतिर्वद वेदविदां वर
Nārada said: The king performed worship, O best of those who know the Vedas.
श्रीनारायण उवाच पादौ प्रक्षाल्य चाचम्य संयतो भक्तिपूर्वकम्
Śrī Nārāyaṇa said: Having washed his feet, sipped water, and restrained himself, he worshipped with devotion.
गणेशं च दिनेशं च वह्निं विष्णुं शिवं शिवाम्
He worshipped Gaṇeśa, the Sun, Fire, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and Śivā.
गणेशं विघ्ननाशाय निष्पापाय दिवाकरम्
He worshipped Gaṇeśa for the removal of obstacles, and the sinless Sun.
शिवं ज्ञानाय तदिनां शिवां बुद्धिविवृद्धये
He worshipped Śiva for knowledge, and Śivā for the increase of wisdom.
दध्यावनेन तद्ध्यानं शृणु नारद तत्त्वतः
Now listen, Nārada, to the true meditation on her, as performed by Dadhyāva.
श्वेतचम्पकवर्णाभां गङ्गां पापप्रणाशिनीम्
She is radiant like a white campaka flower, Gaṅgā, the destroyer of sins.
वह्निशुद्धांशुकाधानां रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
She is adorned in garments pure as fire, and decorated with jeweled ornaments.
ईषद्धासप्रसन्नास्यां शश्वत्सुस्थिरयौवनाम्
Her face is slightly smiling and gracious, ever youthful and steadfast.
बिभ्रतीं कबरीभारं मालतीमाल्यसंयुताम् 2.10.
She bears a mass of hair adorned with a garland of mālatī flowers.
कस्तूरीपत्रकं गण्डे नानाचित्रसमन्वितम्
On her cheek is a musk mark, embellished with various designs.
मुक्तापंक्तिप्रभाजुष्टदन्तपंक्तिमनोहराम्
Her row of teeth is charming, shining with the radiance of a string of pearls.
कठिनं श्रीफलाकारं स्तनयुग्मं च बिभ्रतीम्
She possesses a pair of firm breasts, shaped like coconuts.
स्थलपद्मप्रभाजुष्टपादपद्मयुगंधराम्
She holds a pair of lotus-like feet, radiant like land lotuses.
