पत्यौ करप्रहारं च नित्यं नित्यं करोति च। मिष्टान्नं श्रद्धया भक्त्या जाराय प्रददाति च
She strikes her husband with her hand daily, yet with faith and devotion she gives sweet food to her lover.
वेषयुक्ता च सततं जारसेवनतत्परा। प्राणा बन्धुर्गतिश्चाऽऽत्मा कलौ जारश्चयौषिताम्
Always adorned and intent on serving her lover, in Kali Yuga, the lover becomes the very life, friend, refuge, and self of women.
लुप्ता चातिथिसेवा च प्रलुप्तं विष्णुसेवनम्। पितृणामर्चनं चैव देवानां च तथैव च
Hospitality to guests disappears, service to Vishnu is lost, as is the worship of ancestors and likewise of the gods.
विष्णुवैष्णवयोर्द्वेषी सततं च नरो भवेत्। वाममन्त्रोपासकाश्च चतुर्वर्णाश्च तत्पराः
Men will always be hostile to Vishnu and his devotees; the four classes will be devoted to left-handed mantras.
शालग्रामं च तुलसीं कुशं गङ्गोदकं तथा। नस्पृशेन्मानवो धूर्तो म्लेच्छाचाररतः सदा
A deceitful man, always engaged in foreign customs, will not touch the Shalagrama, tulasi, kusa grass, or Ganges water.
कारणं कारणानां च सर्वेषां सर्वबीजकम्। सुखदं मोक्षदं शश्वद्दातारं सर्वसंपदाम्
The cause of all causes, the seed of everything, the giver of happiness and liberation, the eternal bestower of all prosperity—
त्यक्त्वा मां परया भक्त्या क्षुद्रसंपत्प्रदायिनम्। वेदनिघ्नं वाममन्त्रं जपेद्विप्रश्च मायया
Abandoning me, with supreme devotion, for the sake of petty wealth, a Brahmin will recite left-handed mantras, destroying the Vedas, through illusion.
सनातनी विष्णुमाया वञ्चितं तं करिष्यति। ममाऽऽज्ञयाभगवती जगतां च दुरत्यया
The eternal Maya of Vishnu, by my command, will deceive him; she, the unfathomable goddess of the worlds.
कलेर्दशसहस्राणि मदर्चा भुवि तिष्ठति । तदर्धानि च वर्षाणि गङ्गा भुवनपावनी
For ten thousand years of Kali, my worship will remain on earth; for half that time, the Ganga, purifier of the worlds.
तुलसी विष्णुभक्ताश्च यावद्गङ्गा च कीर्तनम् । पुराणानि च स्वल्पानि तावदेव महीतले
Tulasi, Vishnu's devotees, and the chanting of the Ganga's glories, as well as the minor Puranas, will last only as long as the Ganga remains on earth.
मम चोत्कीर्तनं नास्ति एतदन्ते कलौ व्रज । एकवर्णा भविष्यन्तिकिराता बलिनःशठाः
At the end of this period in Kali, there will be no praise of me; Kiratas, strong and deceitful, will become of one class.
पित्रोः सेवा गुरोः सेवा सेवा च देवविप्रयोः । विवर्जिता नराः सर्वे चातिथीनां तथैव च
Service to parents, to teachers, to gods and Brahmins, and to guests—all these will be abandoned by all men.
सस्यहीना भवेत्पृथ्वी साऽनावृष्ट्या निरन्तरम् । फलहीनोऽपि वृक्षश्च जलहीना सरित्तथा
The earth will be without crops, always afflicted by drought; trees will bear no fruit, and rivers will lack water.
वेदहीनो ब्राह्मणश्च बलहीनश्च भूपतिः। जातिहीनाजनाःसर्वे म्लेच्छोभूपोभविष्यति
Brahmins will be without the Veda, kings without strength; all people will be without caste, and the rulers will be barbarians.
भृत्यवत्ताडयेत्तातं पुत्रः शिष्यस्तथा गुरुम् । कान्तं च ताडयेत्कान्ता लुब्धकुक्कुटवद्गृही
A son beats his father like a servant, a disciple likewise beats his teacher; a wife beats her husband, and the householder is struck like a greedy rooster.
नश्यन्ति सकला लोकाः कलौ शेषे च पापिनः। सूर्याणामातपात्केचिज्जलौघेनापि केचन
All the worlds perish in the Kali age and at the end, only the sinful remain; some are destroyed by the heat of the suns, others by floods of water.
हे गोपेन्द्र प्रतिकलौ न नश्यति वसुंधरा । पुनःसृष्टौ भवेत्सत्यं सत्यबीजं निरन्तरम्
O king of the cowherds, in every age but the Kali, the earth does not perish; in the new creation, truth alone prevails, and the seed of truth endures without interruption.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे विप्र रथमेव मनोहरम् । चतुर्योजनविस्तीर्णमूर्ध्वे च पञ्चयोजनम्
Meanwhile, O Brahmin, a wondrous chariot appeared, four yojanas wide and five yojanas high.
शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं रत्नेन्द्रसारनिर्मितम्। अम्लानपारिजातानां मालाजालविराजितम्
It shone like pure crystal, made from the finest jewels, adorned with garlands of unfading pārijāta flowers.
मणीनां कौस्तुभानां च भूषणेन विभूषितम् । अमूल्यरत्नकलशं हीरहारविलम्बितम्
It was decorated with ornaments of gems and kaustubha stones, with priceless jewel vases and strings of diamond necklaces hanging down.
मनोहरैः परिष्वक्तं सहस्रकोटिमन्दिरैः । सहस्रद्वयचक्रं च सहस्रद्वयघोटकम्
It was surrounded by enchanting mansions numbering billions, had two thousand wheels, and was drawn by two thousand horses.
सूक्ष्मवस्त्राच्छादितं च गोपीकोटीभिरावृतम् । गोलोकादागतं तूर्णं ददृशुः सहसा व्रजे
Covered with fine cloth and encircled by millions of gopīs, it swiftly arrived in Vraja, coming from Goloka.
कृष्णाज्ञया तमारुह्य ययुर्गोलोकमुत्तमम् । राधा कलावती देवीधन्या चायोनिसंभवा
By Krishna’s command, Rādhā, Kalāvatī, the blessed goddess, and those not born from a womb, ascended it and went to the supreme Goloka.
गोलोकाद गता गोप्यश्चायोनिसंभवाश्च ताः । श्रुतिपत्न्यश्च ताः सर्वाः स्वशरीरेण नारद
Those gopīs who came from Goloka and those not born from a womb, as well as all the wives of the Vedas, O Nārada, went there in their own bodies.
सर्वे त्यक्त्वा शरीराणि नश्वराणि सुनिश्चितम् । गोलोकं च ययौ राधा सार्घं गोकुलवासिभिः
All of them certainly abandoned their perishable bodies, and Rādhā went to Goloka together with the residents of Gokula.
ददर्श विरजातीर्र नानारत्नविभूषितम् । तदुत्तीर्य ययौ विप्र शतशृङ्गं च पर्वतम्
She saw the banks of the Virajā river, adorned with various jewels; crossing it, O Brahmin, she went to the mountain of a hundred peaks.
नानामणिगणाकीर्णं रासमण्डलमण्डितम् । ततो ययौ कियद्दूरं पुण्यं वृन्दावनं वनम्
It was covered with many kinds of gems and adorned with the circle of the rāsa dance; from there, she went a certain distance to the sacred forest of Vṛndāvana.
सा ददर्शाक्षयवटमूर्ध्वे त्रिशतयोजनम् । शतयोजनविस्तीर्णं शाखाकोटिसमावृतम्
There she saw the imperishable banyan tree, three hundred yojanas high and a hundred yojanas wide, its branches numbering in the millions.
रक्तवर्णैः फलौघैश्च स्थूलैरपि विभूषितम् । गोपीकोटिसहस्रैश्च सार्धं वृन्दा मनोहरा
It was adorned with clusters of large, red fruits and surrounded by thousands upon thousands of gopīs, along with the enchanting Vṛndā.
अनुव्रजं सादरं च सस्मिता सा समाययौ । अवरुङ्य रथात्तूर्णं राधां सा प्रणनाम च
Following behind with devotion and a smile, she quickly descended from the chariot and bowed to Rādhā.
