सावित्री प्रथमं चापि भक्त्या वै परिपूजिता
Savitri was first worshipped with devotion.
आदौ सरस्वती देवी ब्रह्मणा परिपूजिता
In the beginning, the goddess Sarasvati was worshipped by Brahma.
प्रथमं पूजिता राधा गोलोके रासमण्डले
Radha was first worshipped in Goloka, within the circle of the rasa dance.
गोपिकाभिश्च गोपैश्च बालिकाभिश्च बालकैः
By the gopis, the cowherds, the girls, and the boys.
तदा ब्रह्मादिभिर्देवैर्मुनिभिर्मनुभिस्तथा। पुष्पधूपादिभिर्भक्त्या पूजिता वन्दिता सदा।।2.1.
Then, by Brahma and other gods, sages, and Manus, she was always worshipped and honored with flowers, incense, and devotion.
पृथिव्यां प्रथमे देवी सुयज्ञेन च पूजिता
On earth, the goddess was first worshipped by Suyajna.
त्रिषु लोकेषु तत्पश्चादाज्ञया परमात्मनः
Afterwards, in the three worlds, by the command of the Supreme Soul.
कला या याः सुसंभूताः पूजितास्ताश्च भारते
All those manifestations that arose were worshipped in Bharata.
एवं ते कथितं सर्वं प्रकृतेश्चरितं शुभम्
Thus, everything has been told to you, the auspicious deeds of Prakriti.
नारद उवाच विबोधनार्थं बोधस्य व्यासतो वक्तुमर्हसि
Narada said: For the sake of understanding, you should speak knowledge from Vyasa.
सृष्टेराद्या सृष्टिविधौ कथमाविर्बभूव ह
How did the first creation arise at the beginning of the process of creation?
भूता या याश्च कलया तया त्रिगुणया भवे
Whatever beings came into existence through her, through that threefold power.
तासां जन्मानुकथनं ध्यानं पूजाविधिं परम्
The narration of their births, meditation, and the supreme method of worship.
श्रीनारायण उवाच विश्वेषां गोकुलं नित्यं नित्यो गोलोक एव च
Sri Narayana said: For all, Gokula is eternal, and Goloka is also eternal.
तदेकदेशो वैकुण्ठो लम्बभागः स नित्यकः
Vaikuntha is a part of it, an extension, and it too is eternal.
यथाऽग्नौ दाहिका चन्द्रे पद्मे शोभा प्रभा रवौ
Just as burning exists in fire, coolness in the moon, beauty in the lotus, radiance in the sun.
विना स्वर्णं स्वर्णकारः कुण्डलं कर्तुमक्षमः
Without gold, the goldsmith is unable to make an earring.
नहि क्षमस्तथा ब्रह्मा सृष्टिं स्रष्टुं तया विना
In the same way, Brahma is not able to create the world without her.
ऐश्वर्य्यवचनः शक् च तिः पराक्रमवाचकः 2.2.
The word 'aiśvarya' denotes lordship, and 'śakti' signifies might.
समृद्धिबुद्धिसम्पत्तियशसां वचनो भगः
The term 'bhaga' refers to abundance, wisdom, prosperity, and fame.
तया युक्तः सदाऽऽत्मा च भगवांस्तेन कथ्यते
He who is always endowed with these is therefore called 'Bhagavān.'
तेजोरूपं निराकारं ध्यायन्ते योगिनः सदा
Yogis always meditate upon the formless radiance as the true form.
अदृश्यं सर्व द्रष्टारं सर्वज्ञं सर्वकारणम्
Invisible, the seer of all, all-knowing, the cause of everything.
वैष्णवास्ते न मन्यन्ते तद्भक्ताः सूक्ष्मदर्शिनः
But the Vaiṣṇavas, devoted and subtle-sighted, do not accept this.
तेजोमण्डलमध्यस्थं ब्रह्म तेजस्विनं परम्
They see the supreme radiant Brahman situated in the center of a circle of light.
अतीवसुन्दरं रूपं बिभ्रतं सुमनोहरम्
Bearing a form exceedingly beautiful and supremely enchanting.
नवीननीरदाभासं रासैकश्यामसुन्दरम्
Of the hue of a fresh raincloud, the singularly dark and lovely one of the rāsa dance.
मुक्तासारमहास्वच्छदन्तपङ्क्तिमनोहरम्
With rows of teeth shining like great, spotless pearls, captivating to behold.
सुनासं सस्मितं शश्वद्भक्तानुग्रहकारकम् 2.2.
With a fine nose, ever smiling, always bestowing grace upon devotees.
द्विभुजं मुरलीहस्तं रत्नभूषणभूषितम्
Two-armed, holding a flute, adorned with jeweled ornaments.
