यज्ञं च कारयामास कोटिहोमान्वितं शुफम् । नानाप्रकारनैवेद्यैर्द्यूपदीपैर्मनोहरैः
He performed a sacrifice accompanied by millions of fire offerings, auspicious and adorned with various offerings and delightful lamps.
ब्राह्मणान्भोजयामास पार्वतीप्रीतये तथा । रैवते पर्वते रम्ये चामूल्यरत्नमन्दिरे
He fed the Brāhmaṇas for the pleasure of Pārvatī, in the beautiful temple of priceless jewels on Mount Raivata.
गणेशं पूजयामास देवानामीश्वरं परम् । लड्डुकानां तिलानां च सुस्वादुसुमनोहरम्
He worshipped Gaṇeśa, the supreme lord of the gods, with delicious and fragrant sweets made of sesame.
परिपुष्टं पञ्चलक्षं नैवेद्यं च ददौ मुदा । लड्डुकं स्वस्तिकानां च सप्तलक्षं सुधोपमम्
He joyfully offered five hundred thousand nourishing sweets as offerings, and seven hundred thousand excellent sweets shaped like svastikas.
गणेश्वराय प्रददौ शर्कराशतराशिकम् । पक्वरम्भाफलानां च दशलक्षमपूपकम्
He offered to the lord of the Gaṇas a hundred thousand measures of sugar, and ten lakhs of sweet cakes made from ripe mangoes.
मिष्टान्नं पायसं रम्यं स्वादु स्वस्तिकपिष्टकम् । घृतं च नवनीतं च दधि दुग्धं सुधोपमम्
He gave delicious sweet rice, delightful pāyasa, tasty svastika flour, as well as ghee, fresh butter, curd, and milk, all of the finest quality.
धूपं दीपं पारिजातपुष्पमाल्यमभीप्सितम् । सुगन्धि चन्दनं गन्धं वह्निशुद्धाशुके ददौ
He presented incense, lamps, the desired garland of pārijāta flowers, fragrant sandalwood, perfumes, and pure fire-offerings.
यज्ञं च कारयामास कोटिहोमान्वितं शुभम् । ब्राह्मणान्भोजयामास तुष्टाव स गणेश्वरम्
He performed a yajña, accompanied by a crore of sacred homa offerings, auspiciously; he fed the brāhmaṇas and praised the lord of the Gaṇas.
वाद्यं दशविधं चैव वादयामास तत्र वै । सूर्यं च पूजयामास साम्बः कुष्ठक्षयाय च
He had ten kinds of musical instruments played there; he worshipped the Sun, and also Sāmba, for the cure of leprosy.
हविष्यं कारयामास तं च साम्बंसमातरम् । परिबूर्ण वत्सरं चाप्युपहारैरनुत्त्मैः वरं ददौ च साम्बाय स्तोत्रं च भास्करः स्वयम्
He prepared offerings for the sacrifice, for Sāmba and his mother, throughout the full year, with the finest gifts; Bhāskara himself granted a boon to Sāmba and a hymn.
इति श्रीब्रह्मo महाo श्रीकृष्णजन्मखo उत्तं नारदनाo गणेशपूजा नाम त्रयोदशाधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred thirteenth chapter, named 'The Worship of Gaṇeśa', in the great Brahma Purāṇa, concerning the birth of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, narrated by Nārada.
अथ चतुर्दशाधिकशततमोऽध्यायः नारायण उवाच कृष्णपुत्रश्च प्रद्युम्नो महाबलपराक्रमः । तत्पुत्रोऽप्यनिरुद्धश्च विधातुरंश एव च
Now begins the one hundred fourteenth chapter. Nārāyaṇa said: Kṛṣṇa's son Pradyumna, mighty and heroic, and his son Aniruddha, who is indeed a portion of the Creator.
एकदाऽसावनिरुद्धो नवयौवनसंयुतः । सुप्तो रहसि पर्यङ्के पुष्पचन्दनचर्चिते
Once, Aniruddha, endowed with youthful vigor, slept alone on a bed adorned with flowers and sandalwood.
स्वप्ने ददर्श युवतीं पुष्णोद्याने सुपुष्पिते । सुगन्धिपुष्पतल्पे च स्निग्धचन्दनचर्चिते
In a dream, he saw a young woman in a flourishing garden of Puṣṇa, on a fragrant flower-bed, smeared with gentle sandalwood.
शयानां सुस्मितां रम्यां नवयौवनसंयुताम् । अमूल्यरत्ननिर्माणभूषणेन विभूषिताम्
He saw her lying there, beautiful and smiling, radiant with youthful charm, adorned with ornaments made of priceless gems.
चारुकेयूरवलयशङ्खकङ्कणशोभिताम् । मणिकुण्डलयुग्मेन गण्डस्थलविराजिताम्
She was resplendent with lovely armlets, bangles, conch bracelets, and shone with a pair of jeweled earrings on her cheeks.
अतीव सूक्ष्मवसनां क्वणन्मञजीररञ्जिताम् । पक्वबिम्बाधरोष्ठीं च शरत्कमललोचनाम्
She wore exceedingly fine garments, adorned with tinkling anklets, her lips red as ripe bimba fruit, and her eyes like autumn lotuses.
शरत्पद्मप्रभामुष्टकोटीन्दुनिन्दिताननाम् । मुक्तापङ्क्तिसमासाद्यदन्तपङ्क्तिमनोहराम्
Her face, radiant as an autumn lotus, surpassed the brightness of a crore moons; her enchanting teeth were set like rows of pearls.
त्रिवक्रकबरीभारां मालतीमाल्यभूषिताम् । कस्तूरीकुङ्कुमालक्तस्निग्धचन्दनकज्जलैः
Her hair, arranged in three folds, was adorned with a garland of mālatī flowers; she was anointed with musk, saffron, lac, smooth sandalwood, and kohl.
पत्रावलीविरचितसुकपोलस्थलोज्ज्वलाम् । दाडिमीकुसुमाकारसिन्दूरबिन्दुभूषिताम्
Her cheeks shone, decorated with leaf patterns; she was adorned with a sindūra dot shaped like a pomegranate flower.
श्रीरामकदलीस्तम्भनिन्दितोरुस्थलोज्ज्वलाम् । अत्युच्चैर्वर्तुलाकारस्तनयुग्मविभूषिताम्
Her thighs shone, surpassing the stalks of banana trees; her pair of breasts were high and round, beautifully prominent.
नितम्बभारन म्रां च कामबाणप्रपीडिताम् । कामुकीं कमनीयां च पश्यन्तीं वक्रचक्षुषा
Her hips were heavy and graceful, afflicted by the arrows of Kāma; she was passionate and lovely, gazing with sidelong glances.
कुङ्कुमालक्तरक्ताक्तपादपद्मविराजिताम् । वायुप्रेरणवस्त्रेण व्यक्तगुव्तस्थलोज्ज्वलाम्
Her lotus feet, adorned with saffron and red unguents, shone brilliantly; her beauty was revealed by a garment stirred by the wind, making her secret places radiant.
तां दृष्ट्वा कामपुत्रश्च कामोन्मथितमानसः । उवाच मधुरं रम्यं काममत्तां सुकोमलाम्
Seeing her, the son of Kāma, his mind agitated by desire, spoke sweet and charming words to that lovely, passion-intoxicated, and delicate woman.
चारुचम्पकवर्णाभां कामेन पुलकान्विताम् । अतिप्रौढां नवोढां च शृङ्गानेच्छासुचञ्चलाम्
She, radiant as a beautiful campaka blossom, thrilled by desire, was exceedingly mature, newly wed, and restlessly eager for love's play.
अनिरुद्ध उवाच किं देवी किं च गान्धर्वोका त्वं कामिनिकानने । कस्य सत्री कस्य कन्या वा कं वा वाञ्छसि सुन्दरि
Aniruddha said: Who are you, goddess? Are you a celestial maiden, or do you dwell in the forest of desire? Whose wife or daughter are you, O beautiful one, and whom do you desire?
त्रैलोक्यातुलसौन्दर्या मुनिमानसमोहिनी । न बिभेषि कथं ब्रूहि स्वयमेकाकिनी च माम्
Your beauty is unrivaled in the three worlds, enchanting the minds of sages; tell me, how is it that you do not fear, being here alone with me?
अहं त्रैलोक्यनाथस्य पौत्रः कामात्मजोऽधुना । कान्तेऽहमनिरुद्धश्च नवीनयौवनाहतः
I am now the grandson of the Lord of the Three Worlds, the son of Kāma; O lovely one, I am Aniruddha, struck by fresh youth.
कमनीयश्च कामी च कामशास्त्रविशारदः । कामुकीकामनां पूर्णां कर्तुमेवेश्वरः स्वयम्
I am charming and passionate, an expert in the science of love, and I am myself the lord who fulfills the complete desires of passionate women.
मां भजस्व सुशीरे त्वं सुवेषं च सुशीलकम् । रतिशूरं रतिरसप्राज्ञं रतिरसप्रियम्
Join yourself to me, O graceful one, for I am well-dressed, of good character, a hero in love, skilled in the pleasures of love, and dear to the taste of love.
