Just as one lifts a lotus by piercing water, so does he lift himself from hell, whose tongue utters the auspicious name 'Kṛṣṇa'.
Instantly, countless great sins are reduced to ashes; and the fruit of reciting Kṛṣṇa's name surpasses that of a thousand horse sacrifices.
Better than all those is rebirth for them, but not so for the devotee who is not reborn; all sacrifices and hundreds of vows,
All pilgrimages and austerities, fastings, thousands of Vedic recitations, and a hundred circumambulations of the earth—
These do not equal even a sixteenth part of the recitation of Kṛṣṇa's name; from these, people only gain the fruit of heaven for a long time due to desire.
But from heaven, a person must certainly fall; yet the reciter of Hari's name attains His abode, who lies upon the waters and within all beings, even as their very self.
All Vedic authorities declare Him to be that supreme god Keśava; and Kaṃsa, in sin, obstacle, disease, sorrow, and among demons—
He is called the slayer of their enemy, Kaṃsa; in the form of Rudra, He is the destroyer of all worlds, eternally.
He is called Hari, the remover of the sins of devotees; and Mā, who is of the nature of Brahman, the primal power, the sovereign goddess—
She is renowned as Nārāyaṇī, the eternal power of Viṣṇu; she is the form of Mahālakṣmī, the mother of the Vedas, Sarasvatī, Rādhā, the earth, and Gaṅgā; and Mādhava is their Lord.
He is worshipped by Brahmā, Śiva, Śeṣa, and others, but not fully realized in meditation even by Sanaka and the sages; not defined by the Vedas or Purāṇas—worship with devotion the butter-thief.
Where is the milk, where the curd, or the freshly churned butter, or the buttermilk they desire? Where is the thief among them, and where is bondage for Him, in the root of existence?
Not by yogis, hosts of perfected beings, great sages, nor by groups of devotees, nor by the lords of the world-lotus, nor by yogic means, can He be bound or protected—how then was He bound by you at the root of existence?
With measureless devotion, praise, and worship, serve the child swiftly, O Bhāratī; with constant effort, meditate on the supreme Lord who dwells in the center of the heart-lotus.
Choose a boon, good lady, whatever you desire in your heart; I will grant you everything in the world, even that which is difficult for the gods to obtain.
Yaśodā said: May I have unwavering devotion to Hari, and the desire to serve Him; and what is the origin of Your name? You should tell me that.
Rādhikā said: May you have unwavering devotion to Hari, and service to Him, which is rare; by my boon, you shall obtain it—I will tell you the settled truth.
Once, I was seen by Nanda at Bhāṇḍīra, at the root of a banyan tree; and I spoke to Nanda, but the lord of the people forbade me.
I myself am Rādhā, the shadow and the beloved of Rāyaṇa; Rāyaṇa is a great foremost attendant, a portion of Śrī Hari.
The syllable 'rā' is Mahāviṣṇu, in whose pores exist all worlds; among all beings and universes, 'dhā' signifies the nourishing mother.
I am the nourishing mother of these, the primal nature and sovereign; thus, by Hari and by the wise of old, I have been called Rādhā.
By the curse of Sudāma, I am now the daughter of Vṛṣabhānu; for a hundred years, there is separation from Hari at present.
Vṛṣabhānu is a great foremost attendant of Kṛṣṇa; among the Pitṛs, Kalāvatī, my mother, is a mind-born daughter.
I am not born from a womb, and my mother is also so in Bhārata; again, together with you all, I will go to the abode of Śrī Hari.
Thus, all has been told to you; go, go, O queen of Vraja, together with the wise master, lord of Vraja.
Now, you are the cause of interruption in my meditation; in the breaking of meditation, there is a great fault even for men, O beautiful one.
Thus ends the one hundred and eleventh chapter of the great Brahma Purāṇa, concerning the birth of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the dialogue of Nārada, Rādhā, and Yaśodā.
Now begins the one hundred and twelfth chapter. Nārāyaṇa said: Vāsudeva, in Dvārakā, by the command of Vasudeva, O sage, went to the splendid palace of Rukmiṇī, radiant with jewels.
It was like pure crystal, made of priceless gems; beautiful on all sides, adorned with various paintings.
With vessels of priceless gems, white yak-tail fans, mirrors, and pure silk cloths, it was splendidly decorated all around.
