Having spoken thus, Bhishmaka himself brought Krishna before him and praised the Supreme Lord with a hymn from the Sama Veda.
Bhishmaka said: You are the inner soul of all, the witness of all, untouched by anything; you are the cause of actions for those who act, and the cause of causes.
Some declare you alone to be the eternal form of light; others call you the Supreme Self, whose reflection is the individual soul.
Some, with confused intellects, regard the soul as material and possessing qualities; others, with subtle understanding, see it as eternally embodied and wise.
Within the inner light, there is always the eternal form of the body; how does your radiance shine forth with form, except through the Lord?
Having thus praised, and remembering Vishnu, Narada joyfully offered water for washing the feet at the lotus feet worshipped by Padma.
He then gave arghya there, accompanied by grass, flowers, and water; and a fragrant honey mixture, sandal paste for the whole body.
He gave the garland of Parijata, which had been presented by Mahendra for auspicious rites, placing it around the neck of the groom.
He gave the priceless jeweled ornaments bestowed by Kubera, and the king performed the offering with devotion.
He gave Krishna the pair of pure garments formerly given by Agni, to the one who is most complete.
He placed upon Krishna's head the blazing jeweled crown given by Vishvakarma, the king offering it to the Supreme Self.
He gave incense, a jeweled lamp, delightful food offerings, various kinds of flowers, and a jeweled throne.
He gave water from seven sacred rivers for purification, and again water for sipping, along with excellent betel leaves fragrant with camphor and other scents.
He prepared a charming bed adorned with jewels, scented water for drinking, and after making the offering, the king performed the customary rites.
With hands joined in reverence, the king offered a handful of flowers to him.
Thus ends the one hundred and seventh chapter of the glorious Brahma Purana, concerning the birth of Shri Krishna, the narration of Narada, and the marriage of Rukmini.
Then, at that moment, the goddess Mahalakshmi, also known as Rukmini, entered the assembly hall, accompanied by sages, gods, and others.
Seated upon a jeweled throne, adorned with ornaments of precious gems, she wore garments purified by fire and her hair was beautifully arranged.
Gazing with a gentle smile, the virtuous lady looked into a priceless jeweled mirror, marked with musk spots and anointed with fragrant sandalwood.
Her forehead shone constantly with vermilion and moonstone, her complexion radiant like molten gold, her brilliance equal to a hundred moons.
Her body was smeared with sandalwood, adorned with garlands of jasmine, and she was brought by seven royal princes, all still boys.
The lords of gods, sages, perfected beings, and foremost kings all beheld Rukmini, the goddess Mahalakshmi, devoted to her husband.
After circling her husband seven times and bowing to him, the chaste lady sprinkled him with cool water and tender sandal leaves.
He, beloved of the world, sprinkled her—his beloved, peaceful and smiling; at that auspicious moment, the beloved beheld the beloved.
Then the goddess, her face radiant, sat on her father's lap, her head bowed in modesty, yet shining with her own splendor.
The king, with full ceremony and Vedic mantras, gave the goddess, queen of the gods, to him who was most complete, O Narada.
By Vasudeva's command, Krishna, joyfully uttering blessings, stood and accepted the goddess, just as Bhava accepted Bhavani.
The king gave as dowry to Krishna, the Supreme Soul, five hundred thousand pieces of gold, to him who was most complete.
When the auspicious rite was completed and he had placed his daughter on Krishna's chest, the king wept in bewilderment before the assembly of sages and gods.
With words of farewell and offering her to him, he sprinkled his blessed daughter with the tears that flowed from both his eyes.
