स्वर्गे च स्वर्गलक्ष्मीश्च राजलक्ष्मीश्च राजसु
In heaven she is the goddess of fortune, and among kings she is royal prosperity.
सर्वेषु प्राणिद्रव्येषु शोभारूपा मनोहरा
In all living beings and possessions, she appears as beauty and delight.
वाणिज्यरूपा वणिजां पापिनां कलहङ्करी
She takes the form of commerce among merchants, and among the wicked she brings quarrels.
चपले चपला भक्तसम्पदो रक्षणाय च
She is fickle among the fickle, and protects the wealth of devotees.
शक्तिर्द्वितीया कथिता वेदोक्ता सर्वसम्मता ।। 2.1.
The second is Śakti, as declared in the Vedas and accepted by all.
वाग्बुद्धिविद्याज्ञानाधिदेवता परमात्मनः
She is the presiding deity of speech, intellect, knowledge, and wisdom of the Supreme Self.
सुबुद्धिः कविता मेधा प्रतिभा स्मृतिदा सताम्
She grants good understanding, poetry, intelligence, brilliance, and memory to the virtuous.
व्याख्याबोधस्वरूपा च सर्वसंदेहभञ्जिनी
She is the embodiment of explanation and comprehension, the destroyer of all doubts.
सर्वसङ्गीतसन्धानतालकारणरूपिणी
She takes the form of all music, melody, and rhythm.
यया विना च विश्वौघो मूको मृतसमः सदा
Without her, the entire world is always mute, as if lifeless.
शुद्धसत्त्वस्वरूपा या सुशीला श्रीहरिप्रिया
She is of pure essence, virtuous, and beloved of Śrī Hari.
जपन्ती परमात्मानं श्रीकृष्णं रत्नमालया
She recites the Supreme Self, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, adorned with a garland of jewels.
सिद्धिविद्यास्वरूपा च सर्वसिद्धिप्रदा सदा
She is the embodiment of accomplished knowledge and always bestows all perfections.
यथागमं यथाकिञ्चिदपरां संनिबोध मे

तीर्थानि यस्याः संस्पर्शं दर्शं वाञ्छन्ति शुद्धये
Holy places desire her touch or sight for their own purification.
परमानन्दरूपा च परमा च सनातनी
She is the embodiment of supreme bliss, the highest and eternal one.
ब्रह्मतेजोमयी शक्तिस्तदधिष्ठातृदेवता
She is the power composed of Brahmanic radiance, the presiding deity over that.
देवी चतुर्थी कथिता पञ्चमीं वर्णयामि ते
The goddess is said to be the fourth; now I will describe the fifth to you.
प्राणाधिकप्रियतमा सर्वाद्या सुन्दरी वरा
She is dearer than life, the first among all, beautiful and excellent.
वामार्द्धाङ्गस्वरूपा च सुगुणैस्तेजसा समा
She is the form of the left half of the body, endowed with noble qualities and radiance.
परमानन्दरूपा च धन्या मान्या च पूजिता
She is of the nature of supreme bliss, blessed, honored, and revered.
रासमण्डलसंभूता रासमण्डलमण्डिता
She arose from the circle of the rāsa dance and is adorned by the circle of the rāsa dance.
गोलोकवासिनी देवी गोपीवेषविधायिका 2.1.
The goddess who dwells in Goloka, the one who bestows the attire of the gopīs.
निर्गुणा च निराकारा निर्लिप्ताऽऽत्मस्वरूपिणी
She is without qualities, without form, untouched, and of the nature of the Self.
वेदानुसारध्यानेन विज्ञेया सा विचक्षणैः
She is to be known by the wise through meditation in accordance with the Vedas.
वह्निशुद्धांशुकाधाना रत्नालङ्कारभूषिता
She is clothed in garments purified by fire and adorned with jeweled ornaments.
श्रीकृष्णभक्तदास्यैकदायिनी सर्वसम्पदाम्
She alone grants the service of devotion to Śrī Kṛṣṇa and all forms of prosperity.
यत्पादपद्मसंस्पर्शपवित्रा च वसुन्धरा
The earth is sanctified by the touch of her lotus feet.
