यमः संयमिनीनाथो जयन्तो नलकूबरः । सर्वे ग्रहाश्च वसवो रुद्राश्च सगणस्तथा
Yama, lord of the restrainers, Jayanta, Nalakubara, all the planets, the Vasus, the Rudras along with their attendants—
आदित्याश्च तथा शेणो नानादेवाः समाययुः । वसुदेवश्च भक्त्या च ववन्दे शिरसा भुवि
The Adityas, Shena, and various other gods arrived; and Vasudeva, with devotion, bowed his head to the ground.
तुष्टाव परया भक्त्या देवेन्द्रांश्च तथा सुरान् । भक्तिन म्रात्ममूर्धा च पुलकाञ्चितविग्रहः
He praised Indra and the other gods with supreme devotion, his body thrilled, bowing his own head in devotion.
वसुदेव उवाच परं ब्रह्म परं धाम परमेशः परात्परः । स्वयं विधाता मद्गेहे जगतां परिपालकः
Vasudeva said: The Supreme Brahman, the highest abode, the Supreme Lord, transcending even the transcendent, the creator himself, dwells in my house, the protector of the worlds.
वेदानां जनकः स्रष्टा सृष्टिहेतुः सनातनः । सुराणां च मुनीन्द्राणां सिद्धेन्द्राणां गुरोर्गुरुः
He is the progenitor and creator of the Vedas, the eternal cause of creation; the guru of the gods, the foremost sages, and the perfected beings—the teacher of teachers.
स्वप्ने यत्पादपद्मं च क्षणं द्रष्टुं सुदुर्लभम् । शिवस्मरणमोत्रेण सर्वानिष्टाः पलायिताः
Even in a dream, it is exceedingly rare to behold for a moment his lotus feet; by remembering Shiva in this way, all misfortunes are driven away.
सर्वसंकटमुत्तीर्य कल्याणं लभते नरः । सर्वाग्रे पूजनं यस्य देवानामग्रणीः परः
Having crossed over all difficulties, a person attains auspiciousness, for he whose worship comes first among all gods is the supreme leader.
घटेषु मङ्गलं मन्त्रैर्भक्त्या चाऽऽवाहनेन च । स्वयं गणेशो भगवान् साक्षाद्विघ्नविनाशकः
With auspicious mantras and with devotion, by invocation into the pots, Lord Ganesha himself, the remover of obstacles, is directly present.
कार्तिकेयश्च भगवान्देवादीनां च पूजितः । देवानां प्रवरा पूज्या महालक्ष्मीः परात्परा
And Lord Kartikeya, worshipped by the foremost of gods, and Mahalakshmi, supreme among the worshipful, are revered by the best of the gods.
मद्गेहे पार्वती माता जगतामादिरूपिणी । सर्वशक्तिस्वरूपा च मूलप्रकृतिरीश्वरी
In my house, Mother Parvati, the primal form of the worlds, the embodiment of all powers, the original nature, the sovereign goddess, is present.
परापराणां परमा परब्रह्मस्वरूपिणी । यस्याः पादौ समाराध्य वाञ्छितं लभते नरः
She is the supreme among the supreme and non-supreme, the very form of the Supreme Brahman; by worshipping her feet, a person attains what is desired.
शरत्कारे च भक्त्या च सा साक्षान्मम मन्दिरे । सर्वदेवैश्च सहिता सगणा भक्तवात्सला
In the autumnal ceremony, with devotion, she herself is manifest in my temple, together with all the gods and their attendants, affectionate to devotees.
कृपामयी च कृपया चाऽऽविर्भूता च भारते । धन्योऽहं कृतकृत्योऽहं सफलं जीवनं मम
Full of compassion, by her grace she appeared in Bharata; I am blessed, my purpose is fulfilled, my life has become fruitful.
आगताऽसि यतो दुर्गे परमाद्या च मद्गृहे । एवं सर्वांश्च तुष्टाव क्रमेण च परस्परम्
Since you have come, O Durga, the primordial one, to my house, thus he praised them all, one after another, each in turn.
सर्वान्मुनीन्द्रान्विप्रांश्च गले बद्ध्वांऽशुकं मुदा । प्रत्येकं वासयामास रत्नसिहासने वरे
He joyfully placed cloths around the necks of all the foremost sages and brahmins, and seated each one upon a splendid jeweled throne.
पूजयामास विधिवत्क्रमेण च पृथक्पृथक् । प्रत्येकं वरयामास ब्रह्मादींश्च सुरानपि
He worshipped them properly, one by one, in due order, and honored each, including Brahma and the other gods.
मुनिवर्गान्ब्राह्मणांश्च भक्त्या गर्गं पुरोहितम् । रत्नैः प्रवालैर्मणिभिर्मुवतामाणिक्यहीरकैः
He devotedly honored the groups of sages and brahmins, and Garga the priest, with jewels, coral, gems, pearls, rubies, and diamonds.
भूषणैर्वसनैश्चैव माल्यैश्च गन्धचन्दनैः । लत्नसिहासने रम्ये सर्वेषां मध्यदेशतः
With ornaments, garments, garlands, and fragrant sandalwood, on a beautiful jeweled throne, he seated them all in the central place.
गणेशं वासयामास पूजार्थं शुभकर्मणि । सप्ततीर्थोदकेनैव सुवर्णकलशेन च
He seated Ganesha for worship, for the auspicious rite, with water from seventy sacred places and a golden vessel.
पुष्पजन्द्रनयुक्तेन शीतेन वासितेन च । स्वर्गगङ्गाजलेनैव पुष्करोदकुण्यतः
With water scented by flowers and sandal, cool and fragrant, with water from the heavenly Ganga and from Pushkara’s lake.
पञ्चामृतेन शुद्धेन पञ्चगव्येन भक्तितः । हेरम्बं स्नापयामास समुद्रोदेन मन्त्रतः
With pure five nectars and with five products of the cow, with devotion, he bathed Heramba with ocean water, reciting mantras.
वरयामास माल्येन पारिजातस्य नारद । रत्नेन्द्रभूषणेनैव वह्निशुद्धेन वाससा
He honored him with a garland of parijata flowers, O Narada, with the best jeweled ornaments and garments purified by fire.
गन्धयन्दनपुष्पैश्च रत्नमाल्याङ्गुलीयकम् । तुष्टाव पार्वतीपुत्रं सर्वदेवाधिपं शुभम् विघ्ननिघ्नकरं शान्तं भगवन्तं सनातनम्
With fragrant sandalwood, flowers, gems, garlands, and rings, she praised the son of Parvati, the auspicious lord of all the gods, the remover of obstacles, the tranquil, eternal blessed one.
इति श्रीब्रह्मo श्रीकृष्णजन्मखo उत्तo नारदनाo भगवदुपनयने गणेशाभिषेको नाम नवनवतितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the ninety-ninth chapter, named 'The Anointing of Ganesha,' in the section of the birth of Krishna, narrated by Narada, in the glorious Brahma Purana.
अथ शाततमेऽध्यायः नारायण उवाच अथादितिर्दितिश्चैव देवकी रोहिणी रतिः । सरस्वती च सावित्री यशोदा च पतिव्रता
Now begins the hundredth chapter. Narayana said: Then Aditi, Diti, Devaki, Rohini, Rati, Sarasvati, Savitri, and Yashoda, the devoted wife,
लोबामुद्राऽरुन्धती च अहल्या तारका तथा । ययुस्ताः पार्वतीं दृष्टवा वेगेन मन्दिरादपि
Lobamudra, Arundhati, Ahalya, and Taraka as well, hurried from the temple after seeing Parvati.
परस्परं च संभाष्य समाश्लिष्य पुनः पुनः । प्रणम्य वेशयामासुर्मन्दिरं रत्ननिर्मितम्
Speaking with one another, embracing again and again, bowing, they entered the gem-crafted temple.
रत्नसिहासने रम्ये वासयामासुरीश्वरीम् । वरयामासुर्माल्येन वाससा रत्नभूषणैः
They seated the goddess on a beautiful jeweled throne, adorned her with garlands, garments, and dazzling jewel ornaments.
पारिजातस्य पुष्पं च शक्रानीतं मनोहरम् । ददौ तत्पादपद्मे च देवकी भक्तिपूर्वकम्
Devaki, with devotion, offered at her lotus feet the enchanting parijata flower brought by Indra.
सिन्दूरबिन्दुं सीमन्ते भाले चन्दनबिन्दुकम् । कस्तूरीकुङ्कुमादींश्च प्रददौ परितस्तयोः
She applied a dot of vermilion at the hair parting, sandal paste on the forehead, and musk, saffron, and other fragrant substances all around.
