Krishna Himself, in the circle of the rasa dance at Goloka, performed her worship and recited the rarest king of hymns at Shata-shringa.
He offered an anjali of parijata blossoms, fragrant sandal paste, tender blades of durva grass, and rice grains at her lotus feet.
She is the sovereign of thirty trillion gopis, and also the ruler of her thirty-six companions, known by the name Radhika.
Those who hate, revile, or mock Radhika—the supreme goddess dearer to Krishna than life—are sinners.
They incur the sin of killing a hundred Brahmins—of this there is no doubt—and by that sin they are tormented in the hells Kumbhipaka and Raurava.
They suffer in blazing oil, in dreadful darkness, as insects in machines, confined by the fourteen lords, together with their seven ancestors.
After that, they are born again, once, among mortals, and for a thousand divine years, because of their sin, they are born as worms in excrement.
They are born as worms in the wombs of unchaste women, feeding on blood and filth, and as worms in filth, eating pus for a human lifespan.
In the Kanva branch of the Veda, so says the lotus-born Brahma. As he was saying this and departing, Radhika, weeping and distressed by separation from Krishna, spoke again.
Radhika said: Go, child, to Mathura and inform Madhava of everything. Do whatever is necessary so that I may see Govinda.
This life has passed in vain; go, for your hopes are false and far away. Hope is the greatest sorrow; freedom from hope is the highest happiness.
Afterward, reflecting on Govinda, she became liberated while still alive. Having said this, Radhika wept intensely there again.
Bowing to her as she wept, he went to Yashoda's house. When Uddhava departed, Radha fainted, O Narada.
She abandoned consciousness and remained absorbed in meditation, lying in the muddy, lotus-filled, watery bed, O sage.
The noble gopīs, their eyes like lotuses brimming with tears, placed her there; but at the mere touch of that bed, it was instantly reduced to ashes.
Again, on a soft spot, with a moist cloth scented with sandalwood, they laid her down once more, distressed by the fever of separation.
Suddenly, the fragrant sandalwood water dried up; in a moment, a hundred ages seemed to pass without Uddhava.
"Ah, Uddhava, Uddhava! Go quickly and tell Hari!" she cried, "Bring Hari at once, the lord of my life!"
Having spoken thus, weakened and her senses overcome by suffering, all the gopīs wept, holding Rādhā to their breasts, and tried to revive her, to bring her back to consciousness as they wished.
Thus ends the seventy-ninth chapter, entitled 'The Meeting of Rādhā and Uddhava,' in the Śrī Brahmavaivarta Mahāpurāṇa, Kṛṣṇajanma-khaṇḍa, as narrated by Nārada.
Now begins the eighty-ninth chapter. Nārāyaṇa said: Then Uddhava, after respectfully greeting Yaśodā with joy and haste, left the grove of date palms to his left and went to the Yamunā.
There, after bathing and eating, he again set out for Mathurā; and under the banyan tree, he saw Govinda sitting alone.
Though blossoming, upon seeing Uddhava, he smiled and spoke to him, who was weeping, scorched by sorrow, his eyes filled with tears and full of distress.
The Blessed Lord said: Come, Uddhava! All is well. Rādhā lives, she lives! The gopīs, too, endure, though afflicted by the fever of separation.
The calves, the cowherd boys, and even the cows are well. But my mother Yaśodā—how is she, suffering from the pain of separation from her son?
Tell me truly, friend: what did she say when she saw you? What did my mother say to you, and what did she say about me?
Did you see that sacred bank of the Yamunā, the forest of Vṛndāvana, the delightful circle of the rāsa, and the charming groves and secluded bowers?
Did you see the lovely vine-covered cottages, the beautiful play-lakes, the blossoming flower gardens crowded with bees?
Did you see the Bhāṇḍīra banyan, lush and surrounded by children? Did you see the cow-pens, the settlement of Gokula, and the cowherd village?
If Rādhā is alive, what did she say to me upon seeing you? Tell me all of it, friend, for it stirs my heart.
