श्रीसूर्येण च यद्दत्तं श्रीकृष्णाय स्यमन्तकम् । प्रदत्तं कौ(यौ) तुकं तस्मै यद्दत्तं हरिणा पुरा
That which was given by glorious Sūrya to Śrī Krishna—the Syamantaka gem—and the wedding gift once bestowed by Hari.
यद्दत्तं च महेन्द्रेण रत्नसिंहासनं वरम् । तत्प्रदत्तं मुदा देब्या तस्मै प्रीत्या च राधाया
The jeweled lion-throne, the best, once given by mighty Indra, was joyfully presented to him by the goddess, with Rādhā’s affection.
मणीन्द्रसारनिर्माणं छत्ररत्नं मनोहरम् । मुक्तामाणिक्यसारेण हीरहारसमन्वितम्
A jeweled parasol, delightful, made from the finest gems, adorned with pearls, rubies, and a diamond necklace.
विचित्ररत्नपद्मेन विचित्रं वारुणं सदा । शोभितं परितश्चान्यै रत्ननिर्माणदर्पणैः
A wondrous Varuṇa-made lotus of diverse jewels, always shining, and all around adorned with mirrors crafted from gems.
यद्दत्तं ब्रह्मण प्रीत्या हरये रासमण्डले । सुप्रीत्या राधया तत्र प्रदत्तमुद्धवाय च
Whatever was given with devotion by Brahma to Hari in the circle of the rasa dance, and with great affection by Radha there, and also what was given to Uddhava,
मणिकारविनिर्माणं मणिराजविराजितम् । जपामाल्यं संस्कृतं च यद्दत्तं शंभुना पुरा
The ornament crafted by a jeweler, adorned with the king of jewels, the garland of hibiscus flowers, and the sanctified gift once given by Shambhu,
तदेव दत्तं तस्मै चाप्यमूल्यं पुण्यदं शुभम् । जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिहरं चातिमनोहरम्
That very thing was given to him, priceless, bestowing merit and auspiciousness, removing birth, death, old age, and disease, and exceedingly captivating.
चन्द्रकान्तमणिं रम्यं चन्द्रदत्तं परिष्कृतम् । चन्द्रावलीं ददौ तस्मै सुदीप्तं पूर्णचन्द्रवत्
The beautiful moonstone, splendid and bestowed by Chandra, was given to him, shining brilliantly like the full moon, as Chandravali.
विशुद्धं मधुपूर्णं च मधुपात्रं यदक्षयम् । धर्मेण यत्प्रदत्तं च तद्दत्तं प्रियया हरेः
The pure, honey-filled, inexhaustible vessel, whatever was righteously given, that too was given by Hari's beloved.
जलभोजनपात्रं च शृद्रं स्वर्णविनिर्मितम् । मिष्टान्नं परमान्नं चददौ सुस्वादुमिष्टकम्
A vessel for water and food, splendid, made of gold, and the finest, most delicious sweet rice, and delightful cakes were given.
भोजतं कारयित्वा च कर्पूरादिसुवासितम् । ताम्बूलं च ददौ शीघ्रं माल्यं सुस्निग्धचन्दनम्
After having him dine, with food fragrant with camphor and other scents, she quickly gave betel leaf, and a garland anointed with rich sandalwood.
शुभाशिषं च प्रददौ वाञ्छितं प्रवरं वरम् । ज्ञानं कृष्णेन यद्दत्तं गोलोके रासमण्डले
She bestowed auspicious blessings, the best of boons as desired, and the knowledge that Krishna gave in Goloka at the rasa circle.
पुरुषाणां शतं यावन्निश्चलां कमलां ददौ । विद्यां यशस्करीं शुद्धां यशः कीर्तिं सुनिर्मलाम्
She gave a hundred steadfast lotuses to men, pure knowledge that brings fame, and spotless glory and renown.
सर्वसिद्धिं हरेर्दास्यं हरिभक्तिं च निश्चलाम् । पार्षदप्रवरत्वं च पार्षदं च हरेरिति
All perfections, service to Hari, unwavering devotion to Hari, the highest status among attendants, and the position of Hari's attendant.
वरं प्रसादं दत्त्वा च समुत्थाय मुदाऽन्वितम् । वह्निशुद्धांशुके धृत्वा चामूल्यं रत्नभूषणम्
Having granted the boon and favor, she rose up, filled with joy, and, wearing a garment purified by fire, adorned herself with priceless jeweled ornaments.
हीरहारं रत्नमालां परिघाय मनोहराम् । सिन्दूरं कज्जलं पुष्पमाल्यं सुस्तिग्धचन्दनम्
She put on a necklace of diamonds, a garland of jewels, beautiful and enchanting, vermilion, kohl, flower garlands, and richly anointed sandalwood.
रत्नसिंहासनस्थं तं पूजिता पूजितं मुदा । वेष्टिता हर्षनिरतं गौपीनां शातकोटि भिः
Seated on a jeweled throne, honored and worshipped with joy, she was surrounded by countless gopis, all absorbed in happiness.
राधिकोवाच सत्यमायास्यति हरिः सत्यं निष्कपटं वद । वद तथ्यं भयं त्यक्त्वा सत्यं ब्रूहि सुसंसदि
Radha said: Truly, Hari will come; speak the truth without deceit. Speak truthfully, casting aside fear; speak the truth in this noble assembly.
वरं कूपशताद्वापी वरं वापीशतात्क्रतुः । वरं क्रतुशतात्पुत्रः सत्यं पुत्रशतात्किल
A pond is better than a hundred wells; a sacrifice is better than a hundred ponds; a son is better than a hundred sacrifices; truly, a son is better than a hundred sons.
न हि सत्यात्परो धर्मो नानृतात्पातकं परम्
There is no dharma higher than truth, and no sin greater than falsehood.
उद्धव उवाच सत्यमायास्यति हरिः सत्यं द्रक्ष्यसि सुन्दरि । ध्रुवं त्यक्ष्यसि संतापं दृष्ट्वा चन्द्रमुखं हरेः
Uddhava said: Truly, Hari will come; you will see him, O beautiful one. Surely, you will abandon your sorrow when you see Hari's moon-like face.
मद्दर्शनान्महाभागे गतस्ते विरहज्वरः । नानाभोगसुखं भुक्त्वा त्यज चिन्तां दुरत्ययाम्
By seeing me, O greatly fortunate one, your fever of separation has departed. Having enjoyed various pleasures, abandon your unbearable anxiety.
अहं प्रस्थापयास्यामि गत्वा मधुपुरीं हरिम् । विधाय तत्प्रबोधं च कार्यमन्यत्करिष्यति
I myself will send someone to go to Mathura and approach Hari; after awakening him, he will accomplish the other necessary tasks.
विदायं कुरु मे मातर्यास्यामि हरिसंनिधिम् । सर्वं तं कथयिष्यामि त्वद्वृत्तान्तं यथोचितम्
Mother, grant me leave; I will go into the presence of Hari and tell him everything, recounting your story as is proper.
राधिकोवाच गमिष्यसि यदा वत्स मथुरां सुमनोहराम् । श्रृणु दुःखकथां कांचित्तिष्ठ वत्स स्थिरोभव
Rādhikā said: When you, dear child, go to Mathurā, that most enchanting place, listen to a tale of sorrow; wait, child, and be steadfast.
मां विस्मृतो न भवसि विरहज्वरकातराम् । कथयिष्य सि मत्कान्तं ध्रुवं प्रस्थापयिष्यसि
You will not forget me, who am tormented by the fever of separation; you will surely tell my beloved and set out.
नारीणां मनसो वार्तां को वा जानाति पण्डितः । किंचिच्छास्त्रानुसारेण प्रकरोति निरूपणम्
Who among the wise truly knows the thoughts of women? Some attempt an explanation according to the scriptures.
वेदा वक्तुं न शक्ताश्च शास्त्राणि किं वदन्ति च । कथ यिष्यामि त्वां सर्वं पुत्र कृष्णं च वक्ष्यसि
The Vedas are unable to speak of it, and what do the scriptures say? I will tell you everything, my son, and you must also tell Krishna.
गेहे वने न भेदो मे पश्वादिषु तथा नृषु । किं वा जलं किमु स्वप्नमज्ञानं च दिवानिशम्
For me, there is no difference between home and forest, nor among animals or people; what is water, what is dream, what is ignorance, day or night?
आत्मानं च न जानामि चौदयं चन्द्रसूर्ययोः । क्षणं प्राप्य हरेर्वार्तां चेतनं मे बभूव ह
I do not know myself, nor the rising of the moon or sun; only when I hear news of Hari does awareness return to me for a moment.
