कायस्थेनोदरस्थेन मातुर्मासं न खादितम् । तत्र नास्ति कृपा तस्य दन्ताभावेन केवलम्
With the body or with what is within the belly, if the mother's food is not eaten for a month, there is no compassion for him, only due to the absence of teeth.
स्वर्णकारः स्वर्णवणिक् कायस्थश्च व्रजेश्वर । नरेषु मध्ये ते धूर्ताः कृपाहीना महीतले
O Lord of Vraja, the goldsmith, gold merchant, and the body-keeper among men are deceitful and devoid of compassion on earth.
हृदयं क्षुरधाराभं तेषां नास्ति च सादरम् । शतेषु सज्जनः कोऽपि कायस्थो नेतरौ च तौ
Their hearts are like the edge of a razor, and they have no respect; among a hundred, perhaps one is virtuous, a body-keeper, but not the other two.
सुबुद्धिः शिवयुक्तश्च शास्त्रज्ञो धर्ममानसः । न विश्वसेत्तेषु तात स्वात्मकल्याणहेतवे
A person of good intellect, united with auspiciousness, knowledgeable in scripture, and righteous in mind, does not trust them, O dear one, for the sake of his own welfare.
सीमापहारी दुष्टश्च भूमिचोरश्च हिंसकः । भूमिदानापहारी च कालसूत्रं व्रजेद्ध्रुवम्
One who steals boundaries, is wicked, a land thief, violent, and who takes away land given as a gift, surely goes to the realm of Kālasūtra.
षष्टिवर्षसहस्रामि क्षटत्विवासार्दितः स्थितः ततोऽपितानि नामानि विष्ठायां जायते कृमिः
Having remained tormented in exile for sixty thousand years, then, with those names, he is born as a worm in excrement.
ततो भवेदसच्छूद्रो जन्मैकं च ततः शुचिः । तस्माज्ज्ञानैः सावधानं भवेत्प्राज्ञश्च यत्नतः
After that, he becomes an impure Śūdra for one birth, then pure; therefore, the wise should be cautious and diligent with knowledge.
रक्तवस्त्रापहारी च जन्मैकं रक्तकीट कः । ततः शूद्रश्च जन्मैकं ततो विप्रो भवेच्छुचि
One who steals red garments becomes a red insect for one birth; then a Śūdra for one birth, then a pure Brāhmaṇa.
त्रिसंध्यहीनो विब्रश्च प्रातःशायी च यो नरः । संध्याशायी दिवाशायी यज्ञसूत्रापहारकः
A man who neglects the three sandhyās, is careless, sleeps in the morning, sleeps during the sandhyā, sleeps during the day, and steals the sacrificial thread—
अशुद्धः संध्याकारी च वेदवेदाङ्गनिन्दकः । तद्विरुद्धः स्वर्गमार्गस्त्रिजन्मपतितो द्विजः
One who performs sandhyā impurely, who reviles the Veda and its limbs, opposed to this, the path to heaven is blocked, and the twice-born falls for three births.
यः शूद्रो ब्राह्मणीगामी कुम्भीपाके व्रजेद्ध्रुवम् । वर्षाणां च त्रिलक्षं च पच्यते तत्र पीडितः
A Śūdra who approaches a Brāhmaṇa woman surely goes to the Kumbhīpāka hell; he is tormented there for three hundred thousand years.
दिवानिशं प्रदग्धश्च तप्ततैले च दारुणे । ततौ भवेद्योनिकीटः पुंश्चलीनां च पातकी
Day and night, he is burned in harsh, heated oil; then he becomes a worm in the womb, and a sinner among promiscuous women.
षष्टिवर्षसहस्राणि चाऽऽहारं तस्य तन्मलम् । ततो भवति चाण्डालो जन्मलक्षं क्रमेण च
For sixty thousand years, his food is only filth; then he becomes a cāṇḍāla for a hundred thousand births, in succession.
ततः शूद्रो गलत्कुष्ठी जन्मैकं च ततः शुचिः । सोऽपि विप्रो व्याधिशेषस्तीर्थपर्यटनाच्छुचिः
Then, a Śūdra with falling leprosy for one birth, then pure; he too becomes a Brāhmaṇa, with remnants of disease, purified by pilgrimage.
असच्छूद्रश्च भवति सोऽस्थानेऽसूरपूजिते । दत्तवा देवाय नैवेद्यमपवित्रं च मानवः
He becomes an impure Śūdra by worshipping at the wrong place, offering impure food to the gods, and worshipping demons.
सकेशं पार्थिवं लिङ्गं संपूज्य यवनो भवेत् । दुर्बलेन भवेदन्धः कुत्सितेन च कुत्सतिः
By worshipping a royal liṅga with hair, one becomes a Yavana; with weakness, one becomes blind, and with disgrace, one becomes contemptible.
अङ्गहीनो दरिद्रश्च व्याधियुक्तश्च मानवः । अश्रद्धया च निर्माणे निर्माणसदृशं फलम्
A man who is disabled, poor, or afflicted with disease, and who lacks faith in the act of creation, receives a result similar to his effort.
मृद्भस्मगोशकृत्विण्डैस्तथा वालुकयाऽपि वा । कृत्वा लिङ्गं सकृत्पूज्य वसेत्कल्पायुषं दिवि
By making a liṅga from clay, ashes, cow dung, or even sand, and worshipping it once, one may dwell in heaven for a lifespan of a kalpa.
ततो भवति विप्रश्च महाब्रज्ञश्च भूमिमान् । राजा भवेद्भारते च लिङ्गानां शतपूजनात्
Then, by worshipping the liṅga a hundred times, one becomes a learned Brahmin, a great knower, and a possessor of land; one becomes a king in Bhārata.
सहस्रपूजनात्सोऽपि लभते निश्चितं फलम् । स्थित्वा च सुचिरं स्वर्गे राजेन्द्रो भारते भवेत्
By worshipping a thousand times, he certainly attains the result; after residing long in heaven, he becomes a king in Bhārata.
अयुते च तदीशश्च लक्षे च पृथिवीश्वरः । पूजने चातिभक्त्या चाप्यतिरिस्तं फलं लभेत्
With ten thousand worships, he becomes a lord; with a hundred thousand, a ruler of the earth; and by worshipping with great devotion, he attains an even greater result.
तीर्थस्नानेन दानेन विप्राणां भोजनेन च । नारायणार्चया चैव विप्रजातिश्च कर्मणा
Through bathing at holy places, giving gifts, feeding Brahmins, and worshipping Nārāyaṇa, one attains the status of a Brahmin by action.
अतिरिक्तेन तपसा पण्डितो ब्राह्मणो भवेत् । पण्डितो ब्राह्मणश्चैव वैष्णवश्च जितेन्द्रियः
With exceptional austerity, one becomes a learned Brahmin; and such a Brahmin, learned and devoted to Viṣṇu, is a master of his senses.
अनेकजन्मपुण्येन जायते भारते भुवि । तस्याङ्ध्रिस्पर्शनेनैव सद्यः पूता वसुंधरा
By the merit of many births, one is born on the earth of Bhārata; and by merely touching its dust, the earth is instantly purified.
तीर्थाः कुर्वन्ति तीर्थानि जीवनमुक्ताश्च वैष्णवाः । स्वपुंसां च सहस्रं च पुनन्तीति श्रुतौ श्रुतम्
Holy places create other holy places, and liberated Vaiṣṇavas purify thousands of their own people, as is heard in the scriptures.
पापेन वैद्यजन्मैव दुश्चिकित्सोऽपि ब्राह्मणः । दुश्चिकित्सस्तथा वैद्यो व्यालग्राही त्रिजन्मसु
Because of sin, a physician is born as a Brahmin who is difficult to cure; likewise, a physician who is hard to cure becomes a snake-catcher for three births.
अतिक्रूरो दुराचारो द्वेष्टा च सुरविप्रयोः । स भवेत्कुटिलव्यालो वर्षाणां च महस्रकम्
One who is excessively cruel, of bad conduct, and a hater of gods and Brahmins becomes a crooked snake for a thousand years.
पुंश्चलीलम्पटानां च दूती या कामिनी व्रज । कालमूत्रे वर्षशतं स्थित्वा च गोधिका भवेत्
Among adulterous and lustful women, the messenger who is passionate, after staying in urine for a hundred years, becomes a lizard.
जन्मैकं गोधिका भूत्वा हरिणश्च त्रिजन्मसु । जन्मैकं महिषचैव जन्मैकं भल्लुको भवेत्
After one birth as a lizard, and three as a deer, after one birth as a buffalo, and one as a jackal, one is born accordingly.
जन्मैकं गण्डकश्चैव सृगालश्च त्रिजन्मसु । परकीयतडागं च लुप्त्वा सस्यं ददाति च
After one birth as a mongoose, and three as a jackal, one who steals crops from another's pond gives them away.
