Now I wish to hear about the sin incurred by seeing certain things or by certain actions, O dear one; please tell me that.
People, afflicted, wish to hear words spoken in the Vedas and by followers of the Vedas, as well as from your mouth.
You are the origin of the Vedas, even of the virtuous Vedic followers, of Brahmā and the gods, of sages, and of all the worlds.
What is heard from your lotus mouth is authoritative, nectar-like speech; by that my body is anointed, burning away the pain of separation from my son.
Your lotus feet in a dream grant all desires; even Brahmā and others do not see them, but today they are within my sight.
Therefore, O sinful one that I am, where else can I see your lotus feet? My body, bearing urine and excrement, is bound by its own actions.
O child, when will such a day come for me, when I, a sinner, may converse with you, the lord of Brahma and others?
Show mercy, O Lord of compassion, forgive my faults; whatever wrong I have done with childish understanding, O great Lord.
Brahma, Shiva, Shesha, and the sages meditate upon your lotus feet; Sarasvati, whose essence is the Vedas, becomes mute in your praise.
Having spoken thus, Nanda, bereft of joy and overwhelmed by grief, fainted after weeping, distressed by separation from his son.
The Lord Krishna, anxious, carefully awakened him; the Lord of the world bestowed supreme spiritual knowledge upon him.
The Blessed Lord said: O Nanda, best of fathers, foremost among all, king of Vraja, compose yourself, O auspicious one, and listen to the supreme knowledge.
This supreme spiritual knowledge is exceedingly rare even for the wise; concealed in the Vedas and scriptures, I give it to you alone.
Hear attentively, O Nanda, with joy and concentration: by its practice, birth, death, old age, and disease do not arise.
Be steadfast, O great king, lord of Vraja, return to Vraja; having attained knowledge, you will be ever joyful, free from sorrow and delusion.
All of existence, both moving and unmoving, is like a water bubble; in the morning, it is like a dream—false, and the cause of delusion.
The cause of false, artificial creation is the five elements; by maya and the conviction of reality, a person perceives it.
Bound by desire, anger, pride, and delusion in all actions, deluded by maya, he is ever deprived of knowledge and weak.
Enveloped by sleep, lethargy, hunger, thirst, patience, faith, compassion, modesty, peace, fortitude, nourishment, satisfaction, and fear.
Attached through mind, intellect, consciousness, life-force, knowledge, and self, together with all the gods, just as a tree is surrounded by crows.
I am the Self, the Lord of all, remembered as the essence of all knowledge; the mind is Brahma, nature is the eternal intellect.
Life-force is Vishnu, consciousness is Padma, and she is the presiding deity; when I am present, all are present, and when I depart, they depart as well.
Without me, the body immediately falls, certainly; composed of the five elements, it dissolves into the five elements at that moment.
Name, designation, and form are fruitless and the cause of delusion; O father, sorrow belongs to the ignorant, for the wise there is nothing at all.
Sleep and other powers, all these are aspects of Prakriti; greed and similar unrighteous impulses, as well as the fifth, egoism.
Those qualities—Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra—are the three gunas: sattva and others; Shiva is of the nature of knowledge, light, and I am the self, beyond qualities.
Whenever I enter into Prakriti, then I am considered as possessing qualities; those with qualities are the objects—Vishnu, Brahma, Rudra, and others likewise.
Dharma is a portion of intoxication, the object is dryness, the sun is the repository of arts; thus, all the virtuous portions—sages, Manus, and gods.
I enter into all bodies, yet am untouched by all actions; my devotee is liberated while living, and is free from birth, death, and old age.
He is the lord of all accomplishments, glorious, renowned, learned, and a poet; perfected in thirty-four ways, the bestower of all actions.
