जचडो मूत्रपुरीषेण पीडितश्च भयाकुलः । दिगम्बरो मुक्तकेशो न लभेत्स्वप्नजं फलम्
One who is dull, afflicted by urine or feces, overwhelmed by fear, naked, with loose hair, does not obtain the fruit of dreams.
दृष्ट्वा स्वप्नं च निद्रालुर्यदि निद्रां प्रयति च । विमूढो वक्ति चेद्रात्रौ न लभेत्स्वप्नजं फलम्
Having seen a dream and being sleepy, if one returns to sleep, or if one is confused and speaks at night, he does not obtain the fruit of dreams.
उक्तवा काश्यपगोत्रे च विपर्त्ति लभते ध्रुवम् । दुर्गते दुर्गतिं याति नीचे व्याधिंप्रयाति च
If spoken to one of the Kāśyapa lineage, adversity is surely obtained; to the unfortunate, misfortune comes, to the low, disease follows.
शत्रौ भयं च लभते मूर्खे च कलहं लभेत् । कामिन्यां धनहानिः स्याद्रात्रौ जोरभयं भवेत्
To an enemy, fear is obtained; to a fool, quarrel arises; with a woman, loss of wealth occurs; at night, fever and fear may arise.
निद्रायां लभते शोकं पण़्डिते वाञ्छितं फलम् । न प्रकाश्यश्च सुस्वप्नः पण्डितैः काश्यपे व्रज
In sleep, one experiences sorrow, and a learned person attains the desired result; but a good dream should not be revealed by the wise, O Kāśyapa, in Vraja.
गवां च कुञ्जराणां च हयानां च व्रजेश्वर । प्रासादानां च शैलानां वृक्षाणां च तथैव च
Of cows, elephants, horses, O lord of Vraja, and likewise of palaces, mountains, and trees—
आरोहणं च धनदं भोजनं रोदनं तथा । प्रतिगृह्यतथा वीणां सस्याढ्यां भूमिमालभेत्
To ascend them brings wealth; eating, weeping, and receiving a vīṇā, or obtaining land rich in crops, are also auspicious.
शस्त्रास्त्रेण यदा विद्धो व्रणेन कृमिणा तथा । विष्ठया रुधिरेणैव संयुक्तोऽप्यर्थवान्भवेत्
If struck by weapons or missiles, or wounded by worms, or smeared with excrement or blood—even then, it becomes meaningful.
स्वप्नेऽप्यगम्यागमतो भार्यालाभं करोति यः । मूत्रसिक्तः पिबेच्छुकं नरकं च विशत्यपि
Whoever, even in a dream, approaches a forbidden woman or loses his wife, drinks urine or eats a rat, surely enters hell.
नगरं प्रविशेद्रक्तं समुद्रं वा सुधां पिबेत् । शुभवार्तामवाप्नोति विपुलं चार्थमालभेत्
Entering a city stained with blood, or drinking nectar from the ocean, one receives good news and attains abundant wealth.
गजं नृपं सुवर्ण च वृषभं घेनुमेव च । दीपमन्नं फलं पुष्पं कन्यां छत्रं रथं ध्वजम्
An elephant, a king, gold, a bull, a cow, a lamp, food, fruit, flower, maiden, umbrella, chariot, or banner—
कुटुम्बं लभते दृष्ट्वा कीर्तिं च विपुलां श्रियम् । पूर्णकुम्भंद्विजं वह्निं पुष्पताम्बूलमन्दिरम्
Seeing these, one gains family, great fame, and prosperity; a full pot, a Brahmin, fire, flowers, betel, or a temple.
शुक्लधान्यं नदं वेश्यां दृष्ट्वा श्रियमवाप्नुयात् । गोक्षीरं च घृतं दृष्ट्वा चार्थ पुण्यधनं लभेत्
Seeing white grain, a river, or a courtesan, one attains wealth; seeing cow’s milk or ghee, one obtains merit and riches.
पायसं पद्मपत्रे च दधि दुग्धं घृतं मधु । मिष्टान्नं स्वस्तिकं भुक्त्वा ध्रुवं राजा भविष्यति
Eating rice pudding on a lotus leaf, curds, milk, ghee, honey, sweet food, or a swastika—certainly, he will become a king.
पक्षिणां मानुषाणां च भुङ्क्ते मांसं नरो यदि । बह्वर्थं शुभवार्तां च लभते वाञ्छितं फलम्
If a man eats the flesh of birds or humans, he obtains great wealth, good news, and the desired result.
छत्रं वा पादुकां वाऽपि लब्ध्वा धान्यं च गच्छति । असिं च निर्मरं तीक्ष्णं तत्तथैव भविष्यति
Obtaining an umbrella or sandals, or acquiring grain, or a sharp, flawless sword—so it shall be.
हेलया संतरेद्यो हि स प्रधानो भविष्यति । दृष्ट्वा च फलितं वृक्षं धनमाप्नोति निश्चितम्
He who crosses over playfully will become a chief; and seeing a fruit-bearing tree, he certainly gains wealth.
सर्पेण भक्षितो यो हि णर्थलात्रश्च तद्भवेत् । स्वप्ने सूर्य विधुं दृष्ट्वा मुच्यते व्याधिबन्धनात्
If one is eaten by a snake, he will gain wealth here; seeing the sun or moon in a dream, he is freed from disease and bondage.
वडवां कुक्कुटीं दृष्ट्वा कौञ्चीं भार्यं लभेद्ध्रुवम् । स्वप्नेयो निगडैर्बद्धः प्रतिष्ठां पुत्रमालभेत्
Seeing a mare, a hen, or a female heron, one surely obtains a wife; if bound with chains in a dream, he gains status or a son.
दध्यन्नं पायसं भुङ्कते पद्मपत्रे नदीतटे । विशीर्णपद्मपत्रे च सोऽपि राजा मविष्यति
Eating curd-rice or rice pudding on a lotus leaf by the riverbank, or on a torn lotus leaf—he too will become a king.
जलौकसं वृश्चिकं च सर्प च यदि पश्यति । धनं पुत्रं च विजयं प्रतिष्ठां वा लभेदिति
If one sees a leech, scorpion, or snake, he obtains wealth, a son, victory, or status.
शृङ्गिभिर्दंष्ट्रिभिः कोलैर्वानरैः पीडितो यदि । निश्चितं च भवेद्राजा धनं च विपुलं लभेत्
If afflicted by horned, fanged, boar-like, or monkey-like beings, he will certainly become a king and obtain abundant wealth.
मत्स्यं मांसं मौक्तिकं च शङ्खं चन्दनहीरकम् । यस्तु पश्यति स्वप्नान्ते विपुलं धनमालभेत्
Whoever sees a fish, meat, pearl, conch, sandalwood, or diamond at the end of a dream will obtain abundant wealth.
सुरां च रुधिरं स्वर्ण भुक्त्वा विष्ठांधनं लभेत्। प्रतिमां शिवलिङ्गंच लभेद्दृष्ट्वा जयं धनम्
Whoever eats wine, blood, or gold in a dream will gain wealth from excrement; seeing an idol or Shiva-linga brings victory and wealth.
फलितं पुष्पितं बिल्वमाम्रं दृष्ट्वा लभेद्धनम् । दृष्ट्वा च ज्वलदग्निं च धनं बुद्धिं श्रियं लभेत्
Seeing a fruit-bearing or flowering bilva or mango tree brings wealth; seeing blazing fire brings wealth, wisdom, and prosperity.
आमलकं धात्रौफलमुत्पलं च धनागमम् । देवताश्च द्विजा गावः पितरो लिङ्गिनस्तथा
Seeing an amalaki, dhatra fruit, or lotus brings the arrival of wealth; likewise, seeing deities, twice-borns, cows, ancestors, or those bearing the linga.
यद्ददाति मिथःस्वप्ने तत्तथैव भविष्यति । शुक्लाम्बरधरा नार्यः शुक्लमाल्यानुलेपना । समाश्लिष्यन्ति यं स्वप्ने तस्य श्रीः सर्वतः सुखम्
Whatever is given mutually in a dream will come to pass as such; women dressed in white garments, adorned with white garlands and ointments, who embrace someone in a dream, bring prosperity and happiness everywhere to that person.
पीताम्बरधरां नारीं पीतमाल्यानुलेपनाम् । अवगूहति यः स्वप्ने कल्याणं तस्य जायते
Whoever embraces a woman in a dream who is dressed in yellow garments and adorned with yellow garlands and ointments, will attain good fortune.
सर्वाणि शुक्लानि प्रशंसितानि भस्मास्थिकार्पासविवर्जितानि । सर्वाणि कृष्णन्यतिनिन्दितानि गोहस्तिवाजिद्विजदेववर्ज्यम्
All things white are praised, free from ashes, bones, or cotton; all things black are greatly condemned, except for cows, elephants, horses, twice-borns, and gods.
दिव्य स्त्री सस्मिता विप्रा नत्नभूषणभूषिता । यस्य मन्दिरमायाति स प्रियं लभते ध्रुवम्
If a divine woman, smiling, a Brahmin, adorned with ornaments, enters someone's house, that person will surely obtain what is dear.
