उपोष्य नैमिषारण्ये करोति जन्मखण्डनम् । सिद्धिं कृत्वा च वदरींभुङ्क्ते बदरिकाश्रमे
After fasting at Naimisharanya, he brings about the destruction of birth; and having attained accomplishment, if he eats berries at Badarika Ashrama,
दृष्टवा मत्प्रतिमां नन्द करोति जन्मखण्डनम् । देलायमानं गोविन्दं पुण्ये वृन्दावने च माम्
Having seen My image, O Nanda, he brings about the destruction of birth; and seeing Govinda manifest in holy Vrindavana, Me,
दृष्टवा संपूज्य नत्वा च करोति जन्मखण्डनम् । भाद्रे दृष्ट्वा च मञ्चस्थं मामेव मधुसूदनम्
Having seen, worshipped, and bowed, he brings about the destruction of birth; and in the month of Bhadra, seeing Me, Madhusudana, seated on a couch,
संपूज्य नत्वा भक्तश्च करोति जन्मखण्डनम् । रथस्थं च जगन्नाथं यो द्रक्ष्यति कलौ नरः
Having worshipped, bowed, and being a devotee, he brings about the destruction of birth; and in the age of Kali, whoever sees Jagannatha seated on the chariot,
उत्तरायणसंक्रान्त्यां प्रयागे स्नानमाचरेत् । संपूज्य नत्वा मामेव करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
At the time of the Uttarayana solstice, if one bathes at Prayaga, having worshipped and bowed to Me, he brings about the destruction of birth.
कार्तिक्यां पूर्णिमायां च दृष्ट्वा मत्प्रतिमां शुभाम् । उपोष्य पूजरं कृत्वा करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
On the full moon of Kartika, having seen My auspicious image, after fasting and performing worship, he brings about the destruction of birth.
चन्द्रभागासमीपे च माध्यां च मां नमेत्सुधीः । राधया सह मां दृष्ट्वा करोति जन्मनः क्षयम्
By the side of the river Chandrabhaga, at midday, the wise one should bow to Me; seeing Me together with Radha, he brings about the end of birth.
रामेश्वरं सेतुबन्ध अषाणीपूर्णिमादिने । उपेष्य दृष्ट्वा संपूज्य करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
At Rameshvara, at the Setubandha, on the full moon day of Ashadha, having fasted, seen, and worshipped, he brings about the destruction of birth.
स्वर्गे विद्याधरा रात्रौ नृत्यन्ति च सुहुर्मुहुः। प्रणामं कर्तुमीशं तं समायाति विभीषणः
In heaven, on the night of the Vidyadharas, they dance again and again; Vibhishana comes to that Lord to offer obeisance.
गायन्ति किंनरा रात्रौ गन्धर्वाश्च मनोहरम् । प्रणामं कर्तुमीशं त समायाति य माधवः
At night, the Kinnaras sing, and the Gandharvas sing enchantingly; Madhava comes to that Lord to offer obeisance.
दृष्ट्वा साक्षाद्वसन्तं च सर्वेशं चन्द्रशेखरम् । जीवन्मुक्तो भवेदन्ते प्रयाति हरिमन्दिरम्
Seeing directly the Lord of all, the springtime, and the moon-crested one, one becomes liberated while living and, at the end, goes to the abode of Hari.
दीननाथं दिनकरं कोणार्के चोत्तरायणे । उपोष्य दृष्ट्वा संपूज्य करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
Having observed a fast, seeing and worshipping Dīnanātha, the Sun, at Koṇārka during the northern course, one destroys the bondage of birth.
कृषिकोष्ठे सुवसने कलर्विके वसुंधरे । विस्पन्दके राजकोष्ठे नन्दके पुष्पभद्रके
In the granary, in fine clothing, in the assembly hall, on the earth, in the treasury, in the royal storehouse, in the pleasure garden, and in the flower garden—
पार्वतीप्रतिमां दृष्ट्वा कार्तिकेयं गणेश्वरम् । नन्दिनं शंकरं दृष्ट्वा करोति जन्मनः क्षयम्
Seeing the image of Pārvatī, Kārtikeya, Gaṇeśa, Nandi, and Śaṃkara, one brings an end to the cycle of birth.
उपोष्य प्रातः संपूज्य दृष्ट्वा स्तुत्वा स्तुतौ नतः । पारणं च दधि प्राश्य करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
Having fasted, worshipping in the morning, seeing, praising, and bowing during the hymn, and breaking the fast by eating curd, one destroys the bondage of birth.
त्रिकूटे मणिभद्रे च पश्चिमोदधिसंनिधौ । समुपोष्य दधि प्रश्य मां दृष्ट्वा मुक्तिमाप्नुयात्
At Trikūṭa, at Maṇibhadra, and near the western ocean, having fasted and eaten curd, seeing me, one attains liberation.
प्रतिमासु मदीयासु पार्वतीप्रतिमासु च । जीवं संन्यस्य संपूज्य करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
By offering one's life and worshipping my images and the images of Pārvatī, one destroys the bondage of birth.
शिवदुर्गालयं कृत्वा मदीयं च विशेषतः । शिवसंस्थापनं कृत्वा करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
By establishing a temple of Śiva or Durgā, especially mine, and installing Śiva, one destroys the bondage of birth.
पुष्पोद्यानं च शंकुं च सेतुं खातं सरोवरम् । विप्रसंस्थापनं कृत्वा करोति जन्मखण्डनम्
By creating a flower garden, a conch, a bridge, a well, a lake, or by establishing a brāhmaṇa, one destroys the bondage of birth.
न च वेदाः पुराणानि ब्रह्मसंस्थापनं फलम् । जानन्ति सन्तो मुनयः सुरा विप्रादयः पितः
Neither the Vedas nor the Purāṇas nor the establishment of Brahman know the fruit of establishing a brāhmaṇa; not even the wise, sages, gods, or ancestors.
गण्यन्ते पांसवो भूमेर्गण्यन्ते वृष्टिबिन्दवः । न गण्यते विधात्राऽपि विप्रसंस्थापने फलम्
The grains of earth can be counted, the drops of rain can be counted, but even the Creator cannot count the fruit of establishing a brāhmaṇa.
कृत्वोपजींयं विप्रस्य जीवन्मुक्तो भवेन्नरः । अचलां श्रीयमाप्नोति परे सुक्तिचतुष्टयम्
Having established a livelihood for a brāhmaṇa, a man becomes liberated while living, attains unshakable prosperity, and the four supreme hymns.
मद्दास्यभक्तिं स लभेद्वैकुण्ठे मोदके चिरम् । न हि पातो भवेत्तस्य यथा मे परमात्मनः
He attains devotion to my service, rejoicing for a long time in Vaikuṇṭha; for him there is no fall, just as there is none for me, the Supreme Self.
कुमारीमष्टवर्षोयां सुविप्रय ददाति यः । संपूज्य सर्वाभरणां दुर्गादानफलं लभेत्
Whoever gives a maiden of eight years, adorned with all ornaments, to a worthy brāhmaṇa, after worshipping her, obtains the fruit of giving Durgā.
सर्व स्वर्ग्य समालोक्य ब्रह्मलोकेषु पूजितः । लभते मम दास्यं च वैसुण्ठे मोदते चिरम्
Having seen all the heavenly worlds, honored in the realms of Brahmā, he attains my service and rejoices for a long time in Vaikuṇṭha.
विवाहदर्शने कोटिस्वर्णदानफलं लभेत् । अन्ते स्वर्गे प्रयात्येवमिहैव निश्चलां श्रियम्
By witnessing a marriage, one obtains the fruit of giving ten million pieces of gold; at the end, one surely goes to heaven and gains unwavering prosperity even here.
यः सुविप्रमनाथं च दरिद्रं च सुपण़्डितम् । दृष्ट्वा कुर्यात्तद्विवाहं स मोक्षं लभते ध्रुवम्
Whoever, seeing a worthy, poor, and learned brāhmaṇa, arranges his marriage, surely attains liberation.
यच्छत्रपादुकादानं शालग्रामस्य योषितः । करोति भक्त्या पुण्याहे पृथ्वीदानफलं लभेत्
Whoever gives an umbrella and sandals to a woman of the Śālagrāma lineage, with devotion on an auspicious day, obtains the fruit of giving the earth.
गजचदाने च तल्लोममानवर्ष श्रुतौ श्रुतम् । चतुर्गुणं गजेन्द्रं च मोदते मम मन्दिरे
When one donates an elephant, it is heard in the scriptures that for each hair on the elephant, the donor enjoys four times the pleasure of the lord of elephants in my abode.
गजर्ध श्वेततुरगे तदर्ध चेतने पितः । गजतुल्यं कृष्णगवां दाने च तत्फलं लभेत्
For donating half an elephant, one gains the result of a white horse; for half of that, a yellow one; and for donating a black cow equal to an elephant, one attains the same fruit.
