शोभितैः परितः शश्वत्पद्मरागविनिर्मितम् । शोभितं शोभनार्हं च त्रिकोटिरत्नमन्दिरैः
Surrounded by beautiful decorations, made of padmaraga gems, splendid and worthy of beauty, with triple-peaked jewel palaces.
रम्यैः कुञ्जकुटीरैश्च राजितं शतकोटिभिः । रासं वृन्दावनं दृष्ट्वा कियद्दूरं ययौ च सः
Adorned with charming bowers and cottages, shining with hundreds of millions, having seen the rasa of Vrindavan, he went a little further.
ददर्श पुरतो रम्यं नन्दव्रजमनुत्तमम् । परं वेकुण्ठसंकाशं वैकुण्ठ निलयं शुभम्
He beheld before him the delightful and unsurpassed Nanda’s Vraja, a most excellent abode, resembling the supreme Vaikuṇṭha, radiant like Vaikuṇṭha itself.
रत्नसोपानसंयुक्तं रत्नस्तम्भैर्विराजितम् । नानाचित्रविचित्राढ्यं सद्रत्नवलयान्वितम्
It was adorned with jeweled stairways, splendid with jeweled pillars, filled with wondrous and various decorations, and encircled by gem-studded walls.
खचितं मणिसारेण रचितं विश्वकर्मणा । द्वारि दृष्टेन मार्गेण राजद्वारं विवेश सः
Inlaid with strings of precious stones, constructed by Viśvakarman, he entered the royal gateway by the visible path at the entrance.
पताकारत्नजालाढ्यं सुक्तामाणिक्यभूषितम् । रत्नदर्पणशोभाढ्यं रत्नचित्रविचित्रितम्
Rich with banners and jeweled nets, adorned with pearls and rubies, resplendent with jeweled mirrors, and decorated with intricate gem patterns.
रत्नविथीविरचितं मङ्गलं मङ्गरैर्घटैः । अक्रूरागमनं श्रुत्वा साङ्लादो नन्द एव च
The auspicious streets were paved with jewels and lined with auspicious pitchers; hearing of Akrūra’s arrival, both Nanda and the people rejoiced.
सहितो रामकृष्णाभ्यां जगामानुव्रजाय वै । वृषभान्वादिभिर्युक्तः कृत्वा वेश्यां पुरःसरम्
Accompanied by Rāma and Kṛṣṇa, he went forth to welcome him, joined by Vṛṣabhānu and others, having arranged for courtesans to lead the procession.
पूर्णकुम्भं गजेन्द्रं च कृत्वाऽग्रे शुक्लधान्यकम् । कृष्णां गां मधुपर्कं च पाद्यं रत्नासनादिकम्
At the front were placed a full water pot, a great elephant, white grains, a black cow, madhuparka, water for washing the feet, and seats adorned with jewels.
गृहीत्वा सादरः शान्तः सस्मितो विनतस्था । आनन्दयुक्तो नन्दश्च सगणः सहबालकः
With respect, calmness, and a gentle smile, Nanda, filled with joy, together with his followers and children, received him warmly.
दृष्ट्वाऽक्रूरं महाभागं तूर्णमालिङ्गनं ददौ । प्रणेमुः शिरमा सर्वै गोपा जगृहुराशिषम्
Seeing the illustrious Akrūra, he quickly embraced him; all the cowherds bowed their heads and offered him blessings.
परस्परं च संयोगो बभूव गुणत्रान्मुने । क्रोडे चकाराक्रूरश्च कृष्णं रामं क्रमेण च
There was a meeting of virtues among them, O sage; Akrūra took Kṛṣṇa and then Rāma in his lap in turn.
चुचुम्ब गण्डयुगुले पुलकाञ्यितविग्रहः । साश्रुनेत्रोऽतिसाह्लादः कृतार्थः सिद्धवाञ्छितः
His body thrilled with joy, he kissed their cheeks, his eyes filled with tears of delight, feeling fulfilled and his desires accomplished.
ददर्श कृष्णं द्विभुजं क्षणं श्यामलसुन्दरम् । पीतवस्त्रपरीधानं मालतीमाल्यभूषितम्
He saw Kṛṣṇa with two arms, dark and beautiful, clothed in yellow garments and adorned with a garland of jasmine flowers.
चन्दनोक्षितसर्वाङ्गं परं वंशीधरं वरम् । स्तुतं ब्रह्मेशशेषाद्यैर्मुनीन्द्रैः सनकादिभिः
His entire body was anointed with sandalwood, the supreme flute-holder, praised by Brahmā, Śiva, Śeṣa, and the great sages like Sanaka.
वीक्षितं गोपकन्याभिः परिबूर्णतमं विभुम् । क्षणं ददर्श क्रोडस्थं सस्मितं च चतुर्भुजम्
Beheld by the cowherd maidens, the all-pervading Lord, filled with all excellences; for a moment he saw him in his lap, smiling, with four arms.
लक्ष्मींसरस्वतीयुक्तं वनमालाविभूषितम् । सुनन्दनन्दकुमुदैः पार्षदैः परिसेवितम्
Joined by Lakṣmī and Sarasvatī, adorned with a garland of forest flowers, attended by Sunanda, Nanda, Kumuda, and other companions.
सेवितं सिद्धसंघैश्च भक्तिनम्रैः परात्परम् । क्षणं ददर्श देवं तं पञ्चवक्त्रं त्रिलोचनम्
Served by hosts of perfected beings, bowed in devotion, the Supreme Lord; for a moment he saw that God with five faces and three eyes.
शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं नागराजैर्विराजितम् । दिगम्बरं परं ब्रह्म भस्माङ्गं च जटायुतम्
Resembling pure crystal, splendid with serpent-kings, sky-clad, the supreme Brahman, his body smeared with ashes, adorned with matted hair.
जपमालाकरं ध्याननिष्ठं श्रेष्ठं च योगिनम् । क्षणं चतुर्मुखं ध्याननिष्ठं श्रेष्ठं मनीषिणाम्
Holding a rosary, intent on meditation, the foremost of yogis; for a moment he saw the four-faced one, absorbed in meditation, the best of thinkers.
क्षणं धर्मस्वरूपं च शेषरुपं क्षणं क्षणम् । क्षणं भास्कररूपं च ज्योतीरूपं सनातनम्
For a moment he appeared as the embodiment of righteousness, for a moment as the form of Śeṣa, for a moment as the radiant sun, and as the eternal form of light.
क्षणं परमशोभाढ्यं कोटिकन्दर्पनिन्दितम् । कामिनीकमनीयं च कामुकं कामसंयुतम्
For a moment he was endowed with supreme beauty, outshining millions of Cupids, delightful to women, charming, and united with desire.
एवंभूतं शिशुं दृष्ट्वा स्थापयामास वक्षसि । रत्नमिंहासने रम्ये नन्ददत्ते च नारद
Seeing such a child, he placed him upon his chest, on the beautiful jeweled throne, O Nārada, given by Nanda.
कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणं भक्त्या पुलकाञ्चितविग्रहः । प्रणम्य शिरसा भूमौ तुष्टाव पुरुषोत्तमम्
Having circumambulated with devotion, his body thrilled with joy, he bowed his head to the ground and praised the Supreme Person.
अक्रूर उवाच नमः कारणरूपाय परमात्मस्वरूपिणे सर्वेषामपि विश्वानामीश्वराय नमो नमः । पराय प्रकृतेरीश परात्परतराय च
Akrūra said: Salutations to You, who are the cause of all, the Supreme Self, the Lord of all beings in the universe; repeated salutations to You, Supreme over nature, and higher than the highest.
निर्गुणाय निरीहाय नीरूपाय स्वरूपिणे । सर्वदेवस्वरूपाय सर्वदेवेश्वराय च
To the one who is without qualities, without desire, formless yet possessing true form, the embodiment of all gods and the Lord of all gods.
सर्वदेवाधिदेवाय विश्वादिभूतरूपिणे । असंश्येषु च विश्वेषु ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवात्मक
To the God above all gods, who takes the forms of all beings in the universe, who is, without doubt, present in all worlds as Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Śiva.
स्वरूपायाऽऽदिबीजाय तदीशविश्वरूपिणे । नमो गोपाङ्गनेशाय गणेशेश्वररूपिणे
To the one whose true form is the original seed, who is the Lord and the universal form; salutations to the Lord of the gopīs and to the Lord in the form of Gaṇeśa.
नमः सुरगणेशाय राधेशाय नमो नमः । राधारमणरूपाय राधारूपधराय च
Salutations to the Lord of the hosts of gods, to the Lord of Rādhā; repeated salutations to the one who is the beloved of Rādhā and who assumes her form.
राधाराध्याय राधायाः प्राणाधिकतराय च । राधासाध्याय राधाधिदेवप्रियतमाय च
To the one worshipped by Rādhā, dearer to her than life, attainable by Rādhā, and most beloved to the Lord of Rādhā's devotees.
