ब्रह्माण्डेषु च सर्वेषु मर्यादा स्थापिता मया । तया कर्म प्रकुर्वन्ति मुनयश्च सुरा नराः
In all the universes, I have established boundaries; by these, sages, gods, and men perform their actions.
सुदामशापाद्विच्छेदः शतवर्षमनीप्सितः । भविष्यत्येव दंपत्योरावयोरेव सुन्दरि
Because of Sudāma's curse, an undesired separation of a hundred years will certainly occur between us, O beautiful one.
भेदो जागरणेऽस्याश्च मया सह सुमध्यमे । संश्लेषः संततं स्वप्ने मद्वरेण भविष्यति
In her waking state, O slender-waisted one, there will be separation from me; but in dreams, union with me will always occur by my boon.
आध्यात्मिकी मया दत्ता शोकच्छेदो भविष्यति । राधां बोधय भद्रं ते यास्यामि नन्दमन्दिरम्
I have given her spiritual knowledge; by that, her sorrow will be cut off. Awaken Rādhā—may good be yours—for I will go to Nanda's house.
इत्युक्त्वा जगतां नाथो ययौ नन्दालयं प्रति । राधिकां बोधयामासुरालिसंघाश्च नारद
Having spoken thus, the Lord of the worlds went toward Nanda's abode; and, O Nārada, the groups of friends awakened Rādhikā.
गत्वा गृहं च पितरं ननाम मातरं तथा । चकार माता क्रोडे च नवनीतं च नूतनम्
Going home, he bowed to his father and likewise to his mother; and his mother took him in her lap and gave him fresh butter.
मातृदत्तं च ताम्बूलं चखाद शीतलं जलम् । उवास तत्र जगतां नाथो मातृसमीपतः
He ate the betel nut given by his mother and drank cool water; the Lord of the worlds remained there beside his mother.
सर्वैर्गोपसमूहैश्च सेवितः श्वेतचामरैः । माल्यचन्दनताम्बूलं ते च तस्मै ददुर्मुदा
He was served by all the groups of cowherds with white fans; they joyfully offered him garlands, sandal paste, and betel nut.
अथ सप्ततितमोऽध्यायः नारायण उवाच अथाक्रूरः स्वशरणं गत्वा कंसेन प्रेषितः । चकार शयनं तल्पे भुक्त्वा मीष्टान्नमुत्तमम्
Then, the seventieth chapter: Narayana said: Afterwards, Akrura, sent by Kamsa, went to his own abode; he lay down on a bed after eating excellent sweet food.
सकर्पूरं च ताम्बूलं चखाद वासितं जलम् । जगाम निद्रां सुखतः सुखसंभोगमात्रतः
He chewed betel nut with camphor and drank fragrant water; he entered into sleep comfortably, enjoying only pleasant rest.
ततो ददर्श सुस्वप्नं पुराणश्रुतिसंमतम् । निशावशेषसमये बाधादिपरिवर्जितः
Then, in the last part of the night, free from any disturbance, he saw a beautiful dream, esteemed by ancient tradition.
अरोगी बद्धकेशश्च वस्त्रयुग्मसमन्वितः । सुतल्पशायी सुस्निग्धश्चिन्ताशोकविवर्जितः
Healthy, with hair tied, adorned with two garments, lying on a fine bed, radiant, free from worry and sorrow.
किशोरवयसं श्यामं द्विभुजं मुरलीधरम् । पीतवस्त्रपरीधानं वनमालाविभूषितम्
He saw a youth, dark-complexioned, with two arms, holding a flute, dressed in yellow garments, adorned with a forest garland.
चन्दनोक्षितसर्वाङ्गं मालतीमाल्यशोभितम् । भूषितं भूषणार्हं च सद्रत्नमणिभूषणैः
His whole body was smeared with sandalwood, beautified with jasmine garlands, and adorned with suitable jeweled ornaments.
मयूरपिच्छचूडं च सस्मितं पद्मलोचनम् । एवंभूतं द्विचशिशुं ददर्श प्रथमं मुने
He wore a peacock feather crown, smiled, and had lotus-like eyes; thus, the sage first saw the divine child.
ततो ददर्श रुचिरां पतिपुत्रवतीं सतीम् । पीतवस्त्रपरीधानां रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
Then he saw a beautiful, virtuous woman, possessing husband and son, dressed in yellow garments, adorned with jeweled ornaments.
ज्वलत्प्रदीपहस्तां च शुक्लधान्यकरां वराम् । शरच्चन्द्रनिभास्यां च सस्मितां वरदां शुभाम
She held a shining lamp, had white grains in her hand, was radiant like the autumn moon, smiling, auspicious, and bestowing boons.
ततो ददर्श विप्रं च प्रकुर्वन्तं शुभाशिषम् । श्वेतपद्मगतं हंसं तुरगं च सरोवरम्
Then he saw a Brahmin offering auspicious blessings, a swan seated on a white lotus, a horse, and a lake.
ददर्श चित्रितं चारु फलितं पुष्पितं शुभम् । आम्रनिम्बनारिकेलगुर्वर्ककदलीतरुम्
He saw beautiful, decorated, fruitful, and blossoming trees: mango, neem, coconut, sandalwood, arka, and banana.
दशन्तं श्वेतसर्पं च स्वात्मानं पर्वतस्थितम् । वृक्षस्थं च गजस्थं च तरिस्थं तुरगस्थितम्
He saw a white serpent biting, himself situated on a mountain, on a tree, on an elephant, on a boat, and on a horse.
वीणां वादितवन्तं च भुक्तवन्तं च पायसम् । दधिक्षीरयुतान्नं च पद्मपत्रस्थमीप्सितम्
He saw himself playing the veena, eating rice pudding mixed with curd and milk, and desiring to sit on a lotus leaf.
कृमिविट्सहिताङ्गं च रुदन्तं मोहितं तदा । शुक्लधान्यपुष्पकरं क्षणं चन्दनचर्चितम्
He saw his body accompanied by worms and insects, crying and bewildered, holding white grains and flowers, for a moment smeared with sandal paste.
प्रासादस्थं समुद्रस्थमात्मानं च सलोहितम् । छिन्नभिन्नं क्षताङ्गं च मेदपूयसमन्वितम्
He saw himself in a palace, in the ocean, with blood, wounded and cut limbs, covered with fat and pus.
ततो ददर्श रजतं मणिं शुभ्रं च काञ्चनम् । सुक्तामाणिक्यरत्नं च पूर्णकुम्भजलं शुभम्
Then he saw silver, a bright jewel, gold, pearls, rubies, gems, and a full pot of auspicious water.
सुरभिं च सवत्सां च वृषभेन्द्रं मयूरकम् । शुकं च सारसं हंसं चिल्लं खञ्जनमेव च
He saw Surabhi with her calf, the lordly bull, a peacock, a parrot, a crane, a swan, a wagtail, and a pied wagtail.
ताम्बूलं पुष्पमाल्यं च ज्वलदग्निं सुरार्चनम् । पार्वतीप्रतिमां कृष्णप्रतिमां शिवलिङ्गकम्
He saw betel leaves, garlands of flowers, blazing fire, worship of the gods, an image of Parvati, an image of Krishna, and a Shiva lingam.
विप्रबालां च बालं च सुपक्वफलितां कृषिम् । देवस्थलीं च राजेन्द्रं सिंहं व्याघ्रं गुरुं सुरम्
He saw a young Brahmin, a child, well-ripened fruits and crops, a place of the gods, a king, a lion, a tiger, a guru, and a god.
दृष्ट्वा स्वप्नं समुत्तस्थौ चकाराऽऽह्निकमीप्सितम् । उद्धवं कथयामास सर्वं वृत्तान्तमेव च
Having seen this dream, he arose and performed his desired daily rites; he narrated everything to Uddhava, recounting the entire event.
उद्धवाज्ञां समादाय कृत्वा गुरुसुरार्चनम् । यात्रां चकार श्रीकृष्णं ध्यात्वा मनसि नारद
Taking Uddhava's command, having worshipped the guru and the gods, he set out, meditating on Shri Krishna in his mind, O Narada.
ददर्श वर्त्मन्येवं च मङ्गलार्हं शुभप्रदम् । वाञ्छाफलप्रदं रम्यं पुरो मङ्गलसूचकम्
On the path he saw auspicious signs, bestowing good fortune, granting desired results, delightful and indicating auspiciousness ahead.
