For a moment I must go home; I have a special task. Give me leave with affection, O beloved of my life, just for a moment.
You are the goddess presiding over my life-breaths, and my life-breaths are in you; how can one who has left his life-breaths remain anywhere, O dear one?
My mind is always in you, and my desire for worldly existence is in you; I have no one dearer than you, you are dearer to me even than Śaṃkara.
Śaṃkara is my very life, and you are dearer than life; having spoken thus, the Lord embraced her and prepared to depart.
Knowing of Akrūra's coming, the all-knowing, all-accomplishing Lord, the soul and protector of all, the doer of all good, prepared himself.
Seeing him departing, eager and with a troubled mind, goddess Rādhikā, her heart torn, spoke.
Rādhikā said: O Lord, dearest of lovers, best of my beloveds, O Kṛṣṇa, O Lord of Lakṣmī, O king of Vraja, do not go to the cowherd village.
Now, O lord of my life, I see you with a troubled mind; when you go, my love and my good fortune will also depart.
Where are you going, abandoning me in this deep ocean of sorrow—me, distressed by separation, helpless, who has taken refuge in you alone?
I will not return home again; I will go into the depths of the forest, singing and singing 'Krishna, Krishna' day and night.
Or else, I will not go to the forest, but to the ocean of desire; there, cherishing longing for you, I will abandon this body.
Just as space, the self, the moon, and the sun are ever-present, so too you remain at my side, bound to the edge of my garment.
Now you are turning to despair, O compassionate one to the afflicted; it is not right to abandon me, helpless and surrendered to you.
The lotus feet upon which Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and others meditate—how could I, deluded by your maya and seeing you in a cowherd's form, recognize you, O envious one?
Whatever wrongs have been done, O Lord—thousands of offenses—whatever was spoken with the pride of being your wife, forgive all that.
My pride has been reduced to dust, my desires cast far away; now that I know my own good fortune, what more can I say to you?
Having learned and heard from Garga's mouth, I am bewildered by your maya; I am unable to speak to you, bound by the ties of love and devotion.
If you go, abandoning me, you will be stained with blame; your sons and grandsons will perish, even by the fire of Brahman.
A moment without you, my beloved, feels like a hundred ages; how can I, having lost you, live for a hundred years, O Lord?
Having spoken thus, Radhika suddenly fell to the ground; she lost consciousness at once, O sage.
Seeing her unconscious, Krishna, the ocean of mercy, revived her and placed her upon his chest.
He awakened her by various yogic means that dispel grief; yet even so, the fair-smiling one could not cast off her sorrow.
Separation from ordinary things brings only sorrow to people; how could the severing of body and soul ever bring happiness?
That day, the king of Vraja did not go there, nor did the lord of Vraja; he went with Radha to the banks of the play-lake.
There, having arrived, he played again with her; in the rasa dance, the queen of the rasa cast off her burning pain in joy.
Radha, together with her Lord, adorned with flowers and sandal paste, remained in seclusion upon a flower-and-sandalwood couch, O Narada.
Thus ends the sixty-eighth chapter of the glorious Brahma Purana, called 'The Liberation of Radha from Sorrow,' in the section of the birth of Shri Krishna, narrated by Narada.
Now begins the sixty-ninth chapter. Narada said: Tell me, what further secret exists between Radha and Keshava? Its subtle essence is unclear; you should explain it to me.
Narayana said: Listen, Narada, I will speak a most wondrous secret, concealed in the Vedas, the Puranas, and among the ancient sages.
Again, the Lord Krishna, full of desire and sovereign in his own will, enjoyed with Rama, the clever one, together with the clever woman.
