Contentment, nourishment, forgiveness, modesty, hunger, thirst, supreme compassion, sleep, faith, drowsiness, fainting, humility, and action—
These take form, these take the form of devotion, and dwell in embodied beings as the very form of the body; you are always my support, and I am your very self—thus we are mutually so.
Just as you and I are thus, we are both Nature and Spirit; O goddess, without either one of the two, creation could not exist.
Having spoken thus, the Supreme Self, exceedingly pleased, embraced Rādhā, his beloved dearer than life, to his chest, and began to instruct her, O Nārada.
And he, engaged in playful sport, was present in the jeweled palace, together with Rādhā, the lover with his beloved.
Chapter Sixty-Eight. Nārāyaṇa said: Having played, the Ancient One rose from the flower-strewn bed and at that moment awakened her, who was sleeping and dear as life.
He gently arranged her spotless face with the edge of her garment, and Madhusūdana spoke sweet and peaceful words to the peaceful one.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: O Rādhe, queen of the dance, of pure smile, stay a moment; go to Vṛndāvana, or go to the cowherd village, go, O queen of Vraja.
O goddess presiding over the dance, perform the dance for a moment; just as every village has its own village deity, so too here.
Go for a moment, O beautiful one, with your dear friends to the sandalwood forest, or for a moment to the grove of campaka flowers, or stay as you wish.
For a moment I must go home; I have a special task. Give me leave with affection, O beloved of my life, just for a moment.
You are the goddess presiding over my life-breaths, and my life-breaths are in you; how can one who has left his life-breaths remain anywhere, O dear one?
My mind is always in you, and my desire for worldly existence is in you; I have no one dearer than you, you are dearer to me even than Śaṃkara.
Śaṃkara is my very life, and you are dearer than life; having spoken thus, the Lord embraced her and prepared to depart.
Knowing of Akrūra's coming, the all-knowing, all-accomplishing Lord, the soul and protector of all, the doer of all good, prepared himself.
Seeing him departing, eager and with a troubled mind, goddess Rādhikā, her heart torn, spoke.
Rādhikā said: O Lord, dearest of lovers, best of my beloveds, O Kṛṣṇa, O Lord of Lakṣmī, O king of Vraja, do not go to the cowherd village.
Now, O lord of my life, I see you with a troubled mind; when you go, my love and my good fortune will also depart.
Where are you going, abandoning me in this deep ocean of sorrow—me, distressed by separation, helpless, who has taken refuge in you alone?
I will not return home again; I will go into the depths of the forest, singing and singing 'Krishna, Krishna' day and night.
Or else, I will not go to the forest, but to the ocean of desire; there, cherishing longing for you, I will abandon this body.
Just as space, the self, the moon, and the sun are ever-present, so too you remain at my side, bound to the edge of my garment.
Now you are turning to despair, O compassionate one to the afflicted; it is not right to abandon me, helpless and surrendered to you.
The lotus feet upon which Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and others meditate—how could I, deluded by your maya and seeing you in a cowherd's form, recognize you, O envious one?
Whatever wrongs have been done, O Lord—thousands of offenses—whatever was spoken with the pride of being your wife, forgive all that.
My pride has been reduced to dust, my desires cast far away; now that I know my own good fortune, what more can I say to you?
Having learned and heard from Garga's mouth, I am bewildered by your maya; I am unable to speak to you, bound by the ties of love and devotion.
If you go, abandoning me, you will be stained with blame; your sons and grandsons will perish, even by the fire of Brahman.
A moment without you, my beloved, feels like a hundred ages; how can I, having lost you, live for a hundred years, O Lord?
Having spoken thus, Radhika suddenly fell to the ground; she lost consciousness at once, O sage.
