In the beautiful grove of play, the ocean of mercy, Yadu, spoke: Listen as I recount to you the story of Rādhikā, afflicted by sorrow.
Seeing the connoisseur of rasa now devoid of taste, and having embraced her to his chest, the guru of yogis spoke some spiritual wisdom to the yoginī.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: O one who remembers past births, why do you forget yourself, beloved? All the events of Goloka, and even Sudāmā's curse, you know.
Because of the curse, O noble lady, there will be a brief separation between us for a few days; but soon, our reunion will come again.
Again I will go to Goloka, that my own abode, together with the cowherd women and the cowherds who dwell in Goloka.
Now, I will tell you something of the highest spiritual truth—listen: it is the essence that removes sorrow, brings joy, and gives happiness to the mind.
I am the inner self of all, untouched by all actions; present in all beings, everywhere, yet unseen.
Just as the wind moves everywhere among all things, yet remains untouched, so too am I—the witness of all actions.
The individual soul is my reflection in all living beings; always the experiencer of good and bad, and the doer of actions.
Just as the image of the moon appears in moving water pots, and when they break, the image remains united with the moon, so it is with me.
In the same way, the soul is joined for a time with living beings, O beloved, and we both are always present in all creatures.
I am the support, the supported, the effect, and the cause, O beautiful one; all substances are perishable.
My portions appear with greater or lesser manifestation in various places; some gods are my parts, and some are portions of my energies.
Some are portions of energies, some are portions of those portions; my own portion is subtle nature, which is also manifest in five forms.
Sarasvati, Kamala, Durga, and you, O mother of the Vedas—all gods who possess forms are of nature's origin.
I am the self, eternal in form, responsive to the devotion and meditation of my devotees; O Radha, all those of nature are destroyed at the dissolution of nature.
I alone existed before, and I alone exist afterwards; as I am, so are you, just as whiteness is in milk.
There is never any difference between us, this is certain; I am the great cosmic form, the universal being, in whose pores the worlds exist.
You are a portion there, the great one, my beloved, by your own part; I am the lesser cosmic form in creation, from whose navel-lotus the world arises.
This universe dwells in a pore of Vishnu's body, and I am present there as a portion; you, O fortunate one, are his great consort, by your own part.
In each universe, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and others exist; Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are my portions, and others are also portions of my energies.
By portions and sub-portions of my energies, O goddess, all moving and unmoving beings exist; in Vaikuntha, you are Mahalakshmi and I am the four-armed one there.
And you are outside and above the universe, just as in Goloka; you are Sarasvati in Satya-loka, and Savitri, beloved of Brahma.
In Shiva's realm, you are Shiva herself, the primordial nature and sovereign; destroying evil, you are Durga, the remover of all misfortune.
You are the daughter of Daksha, and also the daughter of the mountain; on Kailasa, you are Parvati, beautiful, upon Shiva's chest.
By your own portion, you are the daughter of the river Sindhu, and in the ocean of milk, you reside on Vishnu's chest; by my own portion in creation, I am Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshvara.
You are Lakshmi, Shiva, Dhatrī, and Savitri, each distinctly; and in Goloka, you are Radha herself, always the mistress of the rasa dance.
You are Vrinda in the beautiful Vrindavana, Viraja on the banks of Viraja; by Sudama's curse, you came to the sacred land of Bharata.
To purify Bharata and Vrindavana, O beautiful one, through your portions and sub-portions, all women in the worlds are manifestations of you.
Every woman is you, and every man is myself; by my portion, I am Agni, and you are Svaha, beloved of the fire.
