I see all the hermitages burned, filled with ashes and embers, and everywhere there is the sound of wailing.
Having spoken thus, the king fell silent in the assembly hall; hearing his dream, his relatives did not speak and kept sighing.

Satyaka said: Abandon fear, O greatly fortunate one! Why should you fear while I am here? Perform a sacrifice to Maheśa for the destruction of deathly omens.
The sacrifice called Dhanurmakha, abundant in food and generous gifts, destroys evil dreams and removes the fear of enemies.
The destruction of these three kinds of calamities—spiritual, divine, and physical—brings increase of prosperity.
When the sacrifice is completed, Śaṃbhu grants the boon of freedom from old age and death, and becomes the direct giver of all wealth.
In ancient times, the mighty Bāṇa, as well as Nandī, Paraśurāma, and Bhalla, the best among the strong, performed this sacrifice.

O king, it measures a thousand hands in length, is extremely hard, and is ten hands wide, fashioned by the will of Śaṃkara.
This Pāśupata bow of Paśupati, difficult to bear even with proper means, cannot be broken by anyone except the god Nārāyaṇa.

If the bow is broken, the sacrifice is certainly ruined; who would grant the fruit here if the act is not accomplished?
At the base of the bow is Brahmā, in the middle is Nārāyaṇa himself, and at the tip, O wise one, is Mahādeva of fierce radiance.
