तिष्ठञ्जगाम गोलोकं पृथिव्यां च पुरातनः
The ancient one, remaining, went to Goloka and also to the earth.
राधामात्रे कलावत्यै ददौ सामीप्यमोक्षणम्
He granted proximity and liberation only to Rādhā, the embodiment of all powers.
निबध्य धर्मसेतुं च वेदोक्तं च युगे युगे
Establishing the bridge of righteousness, as declared in the Vedas, in every age.
श्रीकृष्णचरितं रम्यं चतुर्वर्गफलप्रदम्
The delightful deeds of Śrī Kṛṣṇa bestow the fruits of the four aims of life.
भज तं परमानन्दं सानन्दं नन्दनन्दनम्
Worship that supreme bliss, the joyful son of Nanda.
परमव्ययमव्यक्तं भक्तानुग्रहविग्रहम्
The supreme, imperishable, unmanifest, the embodiment of grace for devotees.
निर्गुणं च निरीहं च निराकारं निरञ्जनम् ।। 4.54.
Without qualities, without desire, formless, and stainless.
इति श्रीब्रह्मैववर्ते महापुराणे श्रीकृष्णजन्मखण्डे नारायणनारदसंवादे श्रीकृष्णराधिकासंवादो नाम चतुष्पञ्चाशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the great Purāṇa Brahmavaivarta, in the section on the birth of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, in the dialogue between Nārāyaṇa and Nārada, is the fifty-fourth chapter named 'The Dialogue of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Rādhikā.'
ॐ तत्सद्ब्रह्मणे नमः। श्रीमद्द्वैपायनमुनीप्रणीतं- ब्रह्मवैवर्तपुराणम्। अथ श्रीकृष्णजन्मखण्डस्योत्तरार्धः। अथ पञ्चपञ्चाशत्तमोऽध्यायः। नारायण उवाच स एव भगवान्कृष्णः सर्वात्मा पुरुषः परः । दुराराध्योऽतिसाध्यश्च सर्वाराध्यः सुखप्रदः
Om, salutation to the true Brahman. The Brahmavaivarta Purāṇa, composed by the sage Śrī Dvaipāyana. Now, the latter half of the section on the birth of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Now, the fifty-fifth chapter. Nārāyaṇa said: That very Lord Kṛṣṇa, the soul of all, the supreme person, is difficult to worship, extremely hard to attain, yet worthy of all worship and giver of happiness.
निजभक्तातिसाघ्यश्चाभक्तस्यासाध्य एव च । शश्वद्दृश्यः स्वभक्तस्याभक्तस्यादृश्य एव च
He is most easily attained by his own devotee, but never attainable by the non-devotee; he is always visible to his devotee, but never seen by the non-devotee.
दुर्ज्ञेयं तस्य चरितं कार्यं हृदयमेव च । बद्धास्तन्मायया सर्वे मोहिताश्च दुरन्तया
His deeds, actions, and heart are difficult to know; all are bound by his great illusion and are deluded by it.
यद्भयाद्वाति वातोऽयं कूर्मं धत्ते निराश्रयः । कूर्मोऽनन्तं विधत्ते च यद्भयेन निरन्तरम्
Out of fear of him, this wind blows, the tortoise supports the unsupported, and the tortoise always supports Ananta out of fear of him.
बिभर्ति शेषो विश्वं च यद्भयेन च नारद । सहस्रशीर्षा पुरुषः शिरमश्चैकदेशतः
Out of fear of him, O Nārada, Śeṣa bears the universe; the thousand-headed person holds his head in one place.
सप्तसागरसंयुक्ता सप्तद्वीपा वसुंधरा । शैलकाननसंयुक्ता पातालाः सप्त एव च
The earth, with seven continents and seven oceans, with mountains and forests, and the seven netherworlds as well.
सप्तस्वर्गाश्च विविधा ब्रह्मलोकसमन्विताः । एवं विश्वं त्रिभुवनं कृत्रिमं परिकीर्तितम्
The seven diverse heavens, together with Brahmaloka; thus, the universe of three worlds is described as artificial.
यद्भयेन विधात्राच प्रतिसृष्टौ च निर्मितम् । एवं विश्वान्यसंरव्यानि लोमकूपैर्महान्विराट्
Out of fear of him, the creator made and set forth the worlds at the beginning of creation; thus, the various universes arose from the pores of the great cosmic being.
यद्भयेन विधत्ते च यदन्नो ध्यायते हि यम् । विष्णुः पाति च संसारं यद्भयेन कृपानिधिः
Out of fear of him, the creator acts, and whoever meditates on him as food; Viṣṇu, the ocean of mercy, protects the world out of fear of him.
कालाग्निरुद्रो यद्भीतः कालः संहरते प्रजाः । मृत्युंजयो महादेवो यद्भयाद्ध्यायते च यम्
Kāla, the fire of time, and Rudra, out of fear of him, Kāla destroys creatures; the great god, conqueror of death, meditates on him out of fear.
षड्गुणैरनुरागैश्च विरागी विरतः सदा । यद्भयेन दहत्यग्निः सूर्यस्तपति यद्भयात्
He who is always detached, free from passion by the six virtues and by affection—out of fear of whom fire burns and the sun gives heat,
यद्भयाद्वर्षतीन्द्रश्च मृत्युश्चरति जन्तुषु । यद्भयेन यमः शास्ता पापिनीं धर्म एव च
Out of fear of whom Indra sends rain, death moves among creatures, and Yama, the lord of justice, punishes the sinful—
धत्ते च धरणी लोकान्यद्भयेन चराचरान् । सूयते प्रकृतिः सृष्टौ यद्भयान्महदादिकम्
Out of fear of whom the earth supports the worlds, the moving and unmoving beings, and out of whose fear Prakriti produces creation, beginning with Mahat—
दुर्ज्ञेयं तदभिप्रायं को वा जानाति पुत्रक । यत्प्रभावं न जानन्ति ब्रह्मविष्णुमहेश्वराः
That intention is difficult to know; who, O child, can understand it? Even Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshvara do not know his power.
कथं जानामि तच्चेष्टामहं वत्स सुमन्दधीः । कथं जगाम मथुरां त्यक्त्वा वृन्दावनं वनम्
How could I, dull-minded as I am, know his actions, dear one? How did he leave Vrindavan and go to Mathura?
कथं तत्याज गोपीश्च राधां प्राणाधिकां प्रियाम् । यशोदां बान्धवादींश्च नन्दं व नन्दनन्दनः
How did the delight of Nanda abandon the gopis, his beloved Radha who was dearer than life, Yashoda, his relatives, and Nanda himself?
दर्पहा दर्पदः सोऽपि सर्वेषां सर्वदः सदा । बभञ्ज राधादर्पं च सुदाम्नः शापकारणात्
He who destroys pride and bestows pride, who always gives to all—he broke Radha's pride as well, because of Sudama's curse.
अन्येषां भावनाहेतोर्ब्रह्मप्राप्तिस्तथा भवेत् । एवं किंचिद्वितर्कं च कुरुते कमलोद्भवः
For the sake of the devotion of others, so that they might attain Brahman, the lotus-born (Brahma) engages in such deliberation.
चकार दर्पभङ्गं च महाविष्णुः पुरा विभुः । ब्रह्मणश्चतथा विष्णोः शषेस्य च शिवस्य च
Long ago, the great Vishnu, the all-pervading one, broke the pride of Brahma, Vishnu, Shesha, and Shiva as well.
धर्मस्य च यमस्यापि साम्बस्य चन्द्रसूर्ययोः । गरुडस्य च वह्नेश्च गुरोर्दुर्वाससस्तथा
And of Dharma, Yama, Samba, the moon and the sun, Garuda, Agni, the guru, and also Durvasa.
दौवारिकस्य भक्तस्य जयस्य विजयस्य च। सुराणमसुराणां च भवतः कामशक्रयोः
Of the doorkeeper, the devotee, Jaya and Vijaya, of the gods and the asuras, of Bhava, Kama, and Indra.
लक्ष्मणस्यार्जुनस्यापि बाणस्य च भृगोस्तथा । सुमेरोश्च समुद्राणां वायोश्च वरुणस्य च
Of Lakshmana, Arjuna, Bana, Bhrigu, Sumeru, the oceans, Vayu, and Varuna.
