देवराजेन दत्तं च गजराजेन्द्रमौक्तिकम्
The king of the gods gave the foremost pearl from the lord of elephants.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र सुशीलाद्याश्च गोपिकाः
Meanwhile, there, the virtuous Gopīs and others,
षष्टिसत्कोटिगोपीभिः सार्धं संहृष्टमानसाः 4.53.
With sixty hundred million Gopīs, their hearts filled with joy,
काश्चिच्चंदनहस्ताश्च काश्चिच्चामरवाहिकाः
Some held sandalwood in their hands, and some were bearers of fly-whisks.
काश्चित्सिंदूरहस्ताश्च काश्चित्कंकतिकाकराः
Some held vermilion in their hands, and some had bracelets in their hands.
काश्चिद्दर्पणहस्ताश्च पुष्पपात्रधरा वराः
Some held mirrors, and others, who were excellent, carried vessels of flowers.
काश्चिदासवहस्ताश्च काश्चिद्भूषणवाहिकाः
Some held wine in their hands, and some bore ornaments.
स्वरयंत्रकराः काश्चिद्वीणाहस्ताश्च काश्चन
Some held musical instruments, and some held vīṇās in their hands.
गोलोकादागतायाश्च भारतं राधया सह
Together with Rādhā, who had come from Goloka, O Bhārata,
काश्चिच्चक्रुश्च सेवां च राधायाः श्वेतचामरैः
Some rendered service to Rādhā with white chowries.
काचिद्ददौ च ताम्बूलं भक्षणार्थे महामुने
One offered betel leaf for chewing, O great sage.
प्रतस्थौ गोपिकासार्द्धं राधावक्षःस्थलस्थितः
She set out together with the gopīs, remaining at Rādhā’s bosom.
क्षणं चखाद ताम्बूलं क्षणं निद्रां ययौ मुदा 4.53.
For a moment she chewed betel, and for a moment she joyfully slept.
क्षणं जलविहारं च चकार यमुनाजले
For a moment she sported in the water of the Yamunā.
स्वेच्छामयस्यात्मनश्च परिपूर्णतमस्य च
Of the self who is made of his own will and is completely fulfilled,
ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादीनामीश्वरस्य परस्य च
Of the Supreme Lord of Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and others,
उक्तं किशोरचरितं किं भूयः श्रोतुमिच्छसि
The deeds of the youthful one have been told; what more do you wish to hear?
नारद उवाच कथं जगाम भगवान्मथुरां नन्दमन्दिरात्
Nārada said: How did the Blessed Lord go to Mathurā from Nanda’s house?
नन्दो दधार प्राणांश्च विच्छेदेन हरेः कथम्
How did Nanda preserve his life after being separated from Hari?
चक्षुर्निमेषविच्छेदाद्या राधा न हि जीवति
Rādhā does not live even for the time it takes to blink her eyes.
येये तत्सङ्गिनो गोपाः शयनासनभोगतः
And those cowherds who were his companions, from their beds, seats, and enjoyments—
श्रीकृष्णो मथुरां गत्वा किं किं कर्म चकार सः
What deeds did Śrī Kṛṣṇa perform after going to Mathurā?
श्रीनारायण उवाच जगाम तत्र भगवांस्तेन राज्ञा निमन्त्रितः
Śrī Nārāyaṇa said: The Blessed Lord went there, having been invited by that king.
राजा प्रस्थापयामास चाक्रूरं भगवत्प्रियम्
The king sent Akrūra, who was dear to the Lord.
श्रीकृष्णं च गृहीत्वा स सगणं मथुरां गतः
He took Śrī Kṛṣṇa along with his companions and went to Mathurā.
जघान रजकं चैव चाणूरं मुष्टिकं गजम्
He slew the washerman, as well as Cāṇūra, Muṣṭika, and the elephant.
कुब्जया सह शृङ्गारं कृत्वा च कौतुकेन च 4.54.
With Kubjā, he engaged in amorous play, out of curiosity.
चकार कृपया विष्णुर्मालाकारस्य मोक्षणम्
Out of compassion, Viṣṇu granted liberation to the garland-maker.
तदोपनीतो भगवानवन्तीनगरं ययौ
Then, having been brought there, the Blessed Lord went to the city of Avantī.
ततो जित्वा जरासन्धं निहत्य यवनेश्वरम्
Afterward, having conquered Jarāsandha and slain the king of the Yavanas,
