तत्रैव रमणं कृत्वा ययौ चन्दनकाननम्
There itself, after delighting, he went to the Candanaka forest.
रम्ये चन्दनतल्पे च स्निग्धे चन्दनपल्लवे
On a lovely sandalwood couch, soft with sandalwood leaves,
कृत्वा विहारं तत्रैव ययौ चम्पककाननम्
Having enjoyed himself there, he went to the Campaka forest.
रतिं निर्वर्त्य तत्रैव ययौ पद्मवनं प्रभुः 4.53.
Having made love there, the Lord went to the lotus forest.
सार्धं तत्र पद्ममुख्या शीतेन पद्मवायुना
There, together with the foremost of lotuses, in the cool lotus-scented breeze,
विहाय निद्रां निद्रेशो ददर्श निद्रितां प्रियाम्
The Lord of sleep, abandoning sleep, saw his beloved sleeping.
दृष्ट्वा मुखं च घर्माक्तं शरच्चन्द्रविनिंदितम्
Seeing her face, moist with sweat, rivaling the autumn moon,
संलुप्ताधररागं च संलुप्तगण्डपत्रकम्
Her lip color faded, and the cheek-paint gone,
रत्नकुण्डलयुग्मेनामूल्येन परिशोभितम्
Adorned with a pair of priceless jeweled earrings,
प्रेम्णा स्वसूक्ष्मवस्त्रेण वह्निशुद्धेन माधवः
With love, Mādhava covered her with his own fine garment, purified by fire.
रत्नपट्टसूत्रबद्धां वामवक्त्रां मनोहराम्
He bound her with a jeweled sash, her lovely face turned to the left.
ददौ सिन्दूरतिलकमधश्चन्दनमुज्ज्वलम्
He applied a vermilion mark on her forehead and bright sandalwood below.
चकार पत्रकं गण्डयुग्मे चित्रविचित्रितम् ।। 4.53.
He made a painted design on both her cheeks, wondrously decorated.
चकाराधररागं च राधायाश्चानुरागतः
Out of affection, he colored Rādhā's lips.
अमूल्यरत्नहारं च स्तनभार युगोज्ज्वलम्
And a priceless jeweled necklace, shining on her full breasts,
वह्निशुद्धांशुकं दिव्यममूल्यं विश्वरत्नतः
A divine garment, purified by fire, priceless, made of all the world's jewels.
प्रददौ पादयुगले रत्नमञ्जीररञ्जितम्
He offered at her two feet anklets adorned with jewels.
चकार सेवां सेव्यायाः सेव्यस्त्रिजगतां सताम्
He, who is served by the three worlds and the virtuous, rendered service to her who is worthy of service.
सर्वभावविदां श्रेष्ठो बोधज्ञः कामशास्त्रवित्
He, foremost among those who know all beings, wise in knowledge and skilled in the science of love,
प्रेम्णा च प्रददौ तस्यै सद्रत्नदर्पणं शुभम्
Out of love, he gave to her a beautiful mirror set with excellent jewels.
नानापुष्पैर्विरचितामम्लानां चन्दनोक्षिताम्
He gave her garlands made of various flowers, unfading and anointed with sandalwood.
कस्तूरीकुङ्कमाक्तं च सुगन्धिचन्दनं ततः
Then, perfumed sandalwood, blended with musk and saffron, was given.
पारिजातस्य कुसुमं दत्तं रहसि ब्रह्मणा 4.53.
A pārijāta flower was given in secret by Brahmā.
कमलं निर्मलं दिव्यं सहस्रदलमुज्ज्वलम्
A pure, divine lotus, radiant with a thousand petals, was given.
अतिसारं मणीन्द्राणां मणिरत्नं च कौस्तुभम्
The supreme gem among jewels, the Kaustubha jewel, surpassing all other gems, was given.
आसवं रत्नपात्रस्थं दस्रदत्तं च निर्जने
Wine placed in a jeweled cup was given in solitude by Dasra.
मालतीमाधवीकुन्दमन्दारचम्पकादिकम्
He gave mālatī, mādhavī, kunda, mandāra, campaka, and other flowers.
सुदुर्लभं च ताम्बूलं कर्पूरादिसुसंस्कृतम्
He gave the exceedingly rare betel, excellently prepared with camphor and other ingredients.
सुदुर्लभं च विश्वेषु वाक्पतेः परिनिर्मितम्
He gave that which is exceedingly rare in all worlds, fashioned by the lord of speech.
अतिसूक्ष्ममनुपमं दत्तं भक्त्या विराजितम्
He gave, with devotion, an exceedingly fine and incomparable ornament, splendidly adorned.
