शीघ्रं ययुस्ते कैलासं देवा मानसशायिनः
The gods, who dwell in the mind, quickly went to Kailāsa.
दृष्ट्वा गतं देवपत्न्यो मुनिपत्न्यश्च सत्वरम् ६७ वायुपत्नी कुबेरस्य कामिनी शुक्रकामिनी
Seeing that she had gone, the wives of the gods and the wives of the sages hurried there—
अत्रिभार्यानुसूया च चंद्रपत्न्यस्तथैव च
Anasūyā, wife of Atri, and likewise the wives of the moon, and others,
असंख्यकामिनीसंघः संख्यां कर्तुं च कः क्षमः 4.45.
There was an innumerable assembly of loving women—who could possibly count them?
रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये वासयामासुरीश्वरीम्
They seated the goddess on a beautiful jeweled throne.
सति स्मरस्यतो गेहाद्यद्गता तातमंदिरम्
Sati, remembering her father's house, had gone from her own home.
जातिस्मरां स्मारयामि नित्यं स्मरसि चेद्वद
I remind the one who remembers her birth—if you remember, tell me.
सर्वं स्मरामि प्राणेश मौनीभूतो भवेति तम्
I remember everything, Lord of my life; become silent, O Bhava, to him.
भोजयामास देवांश्च नारायणपुरोगमान्
He caused the gods, with Nārāyaṇa at their head, to be fed.
सस्त्रीका सगणाः सर्वे प्रणम्य चन्द्रशेखरम्
All of them, together with their wives and attendants, bowed to Candraśekhara.
तौ च तं च समाश्लिष्याशिषं कृत्वा प्रजग्मतुः
They embraced him, offered blessings, and departed.
शीघ्रमानय भद्रं ते पार्वतीं शंकरं सुत
Quickly bring Pārvatī and Śaṃkara, O son; blessings to you.
आजगाम समानीय पार्वतीपरमेश्वरौ
He went and brought Pārvatī and the Supreme Lord.
वृद्धा युवत्यो या याश्च शैलाश्च दुद्रुवुर्मुदा 4.45.
The elderly women, young women, and the mountain maidens all ran joyfully.
हिमालयश्च मुदितो दुद्रावानुव्रजन्सुताम्
Himālaya, delighted, ran after his daughter.
प्रणनाम प्रमुदिता निमग्नाऽऽनन्दसागरे
They bowed, filled with joy, immersed in an ocean of bliss.
हिमालयश्च मुदितो गताः प्राणा इवागताः
Himālaya, delighted, felt as if his very life had returned.
शूलभृते गणेभ्यश्च मधुपर्कादिकं मुदा
With joy, he offered madhuparka and other gifts to the Trident-bearer and his attendants.
नित्यं षोडशोपचारैः पूजितः सह भार्यया शोकजं हर्षजनकं किं भूयः श्रोतुमिच्छसि
He was always worshipped with sixteen kinds of offerings, together with his wife; what more do you wish to hear that brings joy and dispels sorrow?
राधिकोवाच रतिः पुनः प्रियं प्राप्य किं चकार मुदाऽन्विता
Rādhikā said: After Rati regained her beloved, what did she do, filled with joy?
स्त्रीणां स्वस्वामिविच्छेदो मरणादतिदुष्करः
For women, separation from their own husband is more difficult than death.
शिवः सतीं तां संप्राप्य सङ्गे मङ्गलकर्मणि
Śiva, having regained Satī, performed auspicious rites in their union.
कलत्रविरहः पुंसां सर्वशोकात्सुदुष्करः
Separation from a wife is harder for men than any sorrow.
रतिः पुंसो विरहिणी शिवः स्त्रीविरही चिरम्
Rati was long separated from her husband; Śiva was long separated from his wife.
तदेवं श्रोतुमिच्छामि परं कौतूहलं मम
Therefore, I wish to hear this; my curiosity is great.
मेलनं शक्तिशिवयो रतिमन्मथयोस्ततः
The union of Śakti and Śiva, and of Rati and Manmatha, then occurred.
नारायण उवाच कृष्णस्तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा सस्मितस्तामुवाच ह
Nārāyaṇa said: Hearing those words, Kṛṣṇa, smiling, spoke to her.
कृष्ण उवाच स्वालयं तं समानीय हरोद्वाहगृहादहो
Kṛṣṇa said: Bring him to his own house from the wedding hall of Hara.
भर्तुः सुवेषं विविधं स्वात्मनः स्वालिभिर्मुदा 4.46.
With joy, her friends adorned her husband and herself in various beautiful ways.
ज्ञात्वा कामस्तु तद्भावं कामशास्त्रविधायकः
Knowing her state of mind, Kāma, the author of the science of love, acted accordingly.
