शैलः संभृतसंभारान्संभाषयितुमीश्वरान्
The mountain lord, having gathered all the materials, went to greet the gods.
प्राङ्गणं कारयामास रम्भास्तम्भैः समन्वितम्
He had a courtyard constructed, adorned with pillars of plantain trees.
फलपल्लवसंयुक्तैः कलशैर्जलसंयुतैः
With pitchers adorned with fruits and fresh leaves, filled with water,
मालतीमाल्यसंयुक्तैः संयुक्तं सुमनोहरम्
And garlands of jasmine flowers, making it exceedingly beautiful,
रत्नसिंहासनं दातुं प्रेरयामास किङ्करान् 4.44.
He ordered his attendants to prepare a jeweled throne.
विनतानन्दनात्तूर्णमवरुह्य चतुर्भुजः
Descending swiftly with joy, the four-armed one,
रत्नमुष्टिनिबद्धैश्च सेवितः श्वेतचामरैः
Was served with white chowries set with jeweled handles,
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यो भक्तानुग्रहकातरः
His face slightly smiling, radiant, eager to show favor to his devotees,
ऋषयो मुनयश्चैव समूषुर्मङ्गले स्थले
The sages and seers gathered together at the auspicious place,
रत्नासने समुत्तिष्ठन्ददर्श पर्वतालयम्
Rising from the jeweled seat, he beheld the mountain abode,
वृद्धा बाला युवत्यश्च वस्त्राभरणभूषिताः
Elderly women, young girls, and maidens, adorned with garments and ornaments,
काश्चित्सिन्दूरहस्ताश्च काश्चित्कंकतिहाकराः
Some holding vermilion in their hands, others carrying mirrors,
काश्चिन्निर्भूषिताः काश्चित्सर्वाभरणभूषिताः
Some unadorned, and some adorned with every ornament,
ऋषिकन्या देवकन्या नागकन्या मनोहराः
The lovely daughters of sages, goddesses, and serpent maidens,
सर्वा अप्सरसो दिव्या रम्भाद्या समुपस्थिताः 4.44.
All the celestial nymphs, including Rambha and others, were present.
चारुचम्पकवर्णाभमेकवक्त्रं त्रिलोचनम्
With a complexion like beautiful campaka flowers, a single face, and three eyes,
चन्दनागुरुकस्तूरीचारुकुङ्कुमभूषितम्
Adorned with sandalwood, aguru, musk, and fine saffron,
वह्निशौचेनातुलेन चातिसूक्ष्मेण चारुणा
With a purity like fire, incomparable and exceedingly subtle,
रत्नदर्पणहस्तं च कज्जलोज्ज्वललोचनम्
Holding a jeweled mirror in hand, with eyes brightened by kohl,
अतीव तरुणं रम्यैर्भूषिताङ्गैश्च भूषितम्
Extremely youthful, adorned with charming ornaments on every limb,
योगस्वरूपं योगेशं योगीन्द्राणां गुरोर्गुरुम्
The essence of yoga, the lord of yoga, the teacher of teachers among the foremost yogis.
गुणभेदाद्रूपभेदं धत्तेऽनन्तमरूपकम्
Due to the diversity of qualities, it assumes countless forms, yet remains formless.
सर्वाधारं सर्वबीजं सर्वेशं सर्वजीवनम् ।। साक्षिरूपं निरीहं च परमानन्दमक्षरम्
The foundation of all, the seed of all, the lord of all, the life of all; the witness, free from desire, the supreme bliss, imperishable.
आद्यन्तमध्यरहितं सर्वाद्यं सर्वरूपकम्
Without beginning, end, or middle; the origin of all, manifest in every form.
प्रशशंसुर्युवत्यश्च धन्या धन्या सतीति ताः 4.44.
The young women praised, saying, 'Blessed, blessed indeed are we.'
कामेन काश्चित्कामिन्यो मौनीभूताश्च स्तम्भिताः
Some passionate women became silent, motionless with longing.
काश्चिन्निमेषरहिता मूर्च्छामापुश्च काश्चन
Some, without even blinking, fell into a swoon.
काश्चिद्भावेन रुरुदुः पुलकाञ्चितविग्रहाः
Some, overwhelmed with emotion, wept, their bodies adorned with goosebumps.
दृष्ट्वा शंकररूपं च प्रहृष्टाः सर्वदेवताः
Seeing the form of Śaṃkara, all the deities were filled with joy.
वादका वादयामासुर्नानाशिल्पेन तत्र वै
Musicians began to play, employing various arts there.
