इत्युक्त्वा विरतः शंभुर्ददर्श गगनस्थिताम्
Having spoken thus, Śaṃbhu ceased and beheld her standing in the sky,
तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णाभां रत्नाभरणभूषिताम्
He saw her, radiant like molten gold, adorned with jeweled ornaments,
दृष्ट्वा तां विरहासक्तः पुनस्तुष्टाव सत्वरम्
Seeing her, overcome by longing, he again praised her swiftly,
दर्शयामासास्थिमालां स्वांगस्थं भस्मभूषणम् 4.43.
She revealed her garland of bones and the ashes adorning her own body.
इहलोके सुखं भुक्त्वा स याति शिवमन्दिरम्
Enjoying happiness in this world, he then goes to the abode of Shiva.
वसिष्ठस्य वचः श्रुत्वा सगणोऽपि हिमालयः
Hearing the words of Vasiṣṭha, Himālaya, along with his attendants,
अरुन्धती च तां मेनां बोधयामास कातराम्
And Arundhatī began to instruct Menā, who was anxious.
अरुन्धतीं भोजयित्वा बुभुजे भोगमुत्तमम्
After feeding Arundhatī, she enjoyed excellent pleasures.
ततः संभृतसंभारो वसिष्ठस्याज्ञया प्रिये
Then, having gathered all the necessary items, at Vasiṣṭha’s command, dear one,
ततः प्रस्थापयामास शिवं मङ्गलपत्रिकाम्
He then sent forth the auspicious wedding invitation to Shiva.
तन्दुलानां च शैलान्वै पृथुकानां च सुन्दरि
O beautiful one, mountains of rice and heaps of flattened rice,
गुडानामासनानां च क्षीराणां च तथैव च
And also jaggery, seats, and likewise milk,
लड्डुकानां शर्कराणां स्वस्तिकानां तथैव च
Laddus, sugar, and also auspicious symbols,
नानाप्रकारवस्त्राणि वह्निशौचानि यानि च
Various kinds of garments and items purified by fire,
द्रव्याण्येतानि शैलेन्द्र कृत्वा तु विधिपूर्वकम् 4.44.
O lord of mountains, having prepared these materials according to rule,
संस्कारं कारयामासुः पार्वतीं पर्वतस्त्रियः
The mountain women performed the consecration for Pārvatī.
कारयित्वा सुवेषां च रत्नभूषणभूषिताम
Having adorned her beautifully and decorated her with jeweled ornaments,
ददुश्चालक्तकं चारु पादांगुलिषु पादयोः
They applied lovely red dye to the toes and feet.
कबरीं कारयामासुर्मालतीमाल्यवेष्टिताम्
They arranged her hair, entwined with garlands of jasmine flowers.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे राधे समाजग्मुः सुरेश्वराः
Meanwhile, O Rādhe, the lords of the gods arrived.
शैलः संभृतसंभारान्संभाषयितुमीश्वरान्
The mountain lord, having gathered all the materials, went to greet the gods.
प्राङ्गणं कारयामास रम्भास्तम्भैः समन्वितम्
He had a courtyard constructed, adorned with pillars of plantain trees.
फलपल्लवसंयुक्तैः कलशैर्जलसंयुतैः
With pitchers adorned with fruits and fresh leaves, filled with water,
मालतीमाल्यसंयुक्तैः संयुक्तं सुमनोहरम्
And garlands of jasmine flowers, making it exceedingly beautiful,
रत्नसिंहासनं दातुं प्रेरयामास किङ्करान् 4.44.
He ordered his attendants to prepare a jeweled throne.
विनतानन्दनात्तूर्णमवरुह्य चतुर्भुजः
Descending swiftly with joy, the four-armed one,
रत्नमुष्टिनिबद्धैश्च सेवितः श्वेतचामरैः
Was served with white chowries set with jeweled handles,
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यो भक्तानुग्रहकातरः
His face slightly smiling, radiant, eager to show favor to his devotees,
ऋषयो मुनयश्चैव समूषुर्मङ्गले स्थले
The sages and seers gathered together at the auspicious place,
रत्नासने समुत्तिष्ठन्ददर्श पर्वतालयम्
Rising from the jeweled seat, he beheld the mountain abode,
