संसर्गसाध्यो ऽध्यासश्च संसर्गः पुण्यतो भवेत्
Superimposition is accomplished by association, and association arises from virtue.
मनः शंभो ममांशश्च सर्वेंद्रियपुरःसरम्
O Shambhu, the mind is my portion, along with all the senses at the forefront.
ब्रह्रैकं मूर्तिभेदस्तु गुणभेदेन संततम्
Brahman is one; the difference of forms is due to the difference of qualities, pervading all.
मायाश्रितो यः सगुणो मायाऽतीतश्च निर्गुणः
He who is supported by māyā is with qualities; transcending māyā, he is without qualities.
इच्छाशक्तिश्च प्रकृतिर्नित्या सर्वप्रसूः सदा
The power of will and primordial nature are eternal, always the source of all creation.
केचिद्वदन्ति द्विविधं ब्रह्म प्रकृतिपूर्वकम् 4.43.
Some say Brahman is twofold, preceded by primordial nature.
तस्माद्भवति तौ द्वौ च तद्ब्रह्म सर्वकारणम्
Therefore, those two arise, and that Brahman is the cause of all.
इच्छाशक्तिश्च प्रकृतिः सर्वशक्तिप्रसूः .सदा
The power of will and primordial nature are always the source of all powers.
सर्वेश्वरः सर्वसाक्षी सर्वत्रास्ति फलप्रदः
The Lord of all, the witness of all, is present everywhere and grants the results of actions.
नित्यं विनाशरहितं नश्वरं प्राकृतं सदा
He is eternal, without destruction, while the perishable is always material in nature.
आवयोरंशभूता ये प्राकृता नष्टविग्रहाः
Those who are portions of us are material and their forms are subject to dissolution.
ममाप्येवं द्विधा रूपं द्विभुजं च चतुर्भुजम्
Even I have two forms: one with two arms and one with four arms.
गोलोके द्विभुजोऽहं च गोपीभिः सह राधया
In Goloka, I am two-armed, together with the gopīs and Rādhā.
पुरुषश्च सदा नित्यो नित्या प्रकृतिरीश्वरी
The Puruṣa is always eternal, and Prakṛti, the sovereign, is also eternal.
सशरीरौ निःशरीरौ स्वेच्छया सर्वरूपिणौ
With or without bodies, by their own will, they take on all forms.
सतीमिच्छसि चेच्छम्भो प्रकृतेः स्तवनं कुरु 4.43.
O Śambhu, if you desire Satī, then praise Prakṛti.
तद्दिव्यं कण्वशाखोक्तं भज तेन जगत्प्रसूम्
Worship her by that divine hymn spoken in the Kaṇva branch, for she is the mother of the world.
दूरं विप्लवहेतुश्च यातु स्त्रीविरहज्वरः
Let the fever of separation from your wife, which is the cause of turmoil, depart far away.
स्तवनं कर्तुमारेभे प्रकृतेश्च महेश्वरः पुटाञ्जलियुतो भूत्वा पुलकाञ्चितविग्रहः
Then Maheśvara began to praise Prakṛti, with joined palms and a body thrilled with joy.
महेश्वर उवाच ब्राह्मि ब्रह्मस्वरूपे त्वं मां प्रसीद सनातनि
Maheśvara said: O Brāhmī, embodiment of Brahman, eternal one, be gracious to me.
भद्रे भद्रप्रदे दुर्गे दुर्गघ्ने दुर्गनाशिनि
O Auspicious one, bestower of good, O Durgā, destroyer of difficulties, remover of hardships.
सर्वस्वरूपे सर्वेशि सर्वबीजस्वरूपिणि
O you who are the form of all, O sovereign of all, O embodiment of the seed of all.
सर्वमङ्गलरूपे च सर्वमङ्गलदायिनि
O you who are the form of all auspiciousness, the giver of all auspiciousness.
निद्रे तन्द्रे क्षमे श्रद्धे तुष्टिपुष्टिस्वरूपिणि
O Sleep, O Drowsiness, O Forbearance, O Faith, O embodiment of satisfaction and nourishment.
दये जये महामाये प्रसीद जगदम्बिके 4.43.
O Compassion, O Victory, O Great Enchantress, be gracious, O Mother of the world.
लक्ष्मीर्नारायणक्रोडे स्रष्टुर्वक्षसि भारति
Lakṣmī is on Nārāyaṇa's lap, and Bhāratī is on the creator's chest.
कलाकाष्ठास्वरूपे च दिवारात्रिस्वरूपिणि
O you who are the very form of time and its divisions, who embody day and night,
कारणे सर्वशक्तीनां कृष्णस्योरसि राधिके
O Rādhā, who dwell on Kṛṣṇa’s chest as the source of all powers,
यशःस्वरूपे यशसां कारणे च यशःप्रदे
O you who are the essence of fame, the cause of all renown, and the bestower of glory,
समस्तकामिनीरूपे कलांशेन प्रसीद मे
O you who are the form of all desiring women, be gracious to me with a portion of your artful power,
