With the hymn composed by Dharmadatta, he praised the Supreme Lord.
Himālaya spoke:
You are Śiva, the bestower of auspiciousness, the infinite one, the agent of all dissolution.
You are the natural, the Lord of nature, the primordial, and beyond nature; in whatever forms there is delight, you assume those very forms.
You are the Sun, the creator of creation, the support of all radiance.
You are the Wind, you are Varuṇa, you are Fire, the universal burner.
You are the conqueror of death, death unto death, time of time, the ender of Yama.
You are the Veda, the creator of the Veda, and the knower of the Veda and its limbs.
You are the mantra, indeed the recitation, indeed the austerity, and the giver of its fruit.
Ah, you are the seed of Sarasvatī; who, O Lord, is able to praise you here?
There, having been awakened, Śiva descended from the bull and remained.
One is freed from all sins and from fears in the ocean of becoming.
A man without a wife obtains a virtuous and charming wife.
One deprived of a kingdom regains a kingdom by the grace of Śaṃkara.
In deep waters, overwhelmed by great waves, with a broken boat, in despair—
From all such situations one is freed by praising, through the grace of Śaṃkara.
Having thus praised Himavat, who dwelt with Śaṅkara,
He offered to him madhuparka and other gifts with devoted reverence.
Then Menakā arrived there, accompanied by groups of women.
She saw him, his face radiant with a gentle smile, seated upon the tiger skin.
Just as the king of twice-born shines among the stars in the sky,
He had cast aside old age and assumed fresh youth.
He was as desirable to those longing for love as a son is to virtuous wives.
To the Śāktas, he appeared as the embodiment of Śakti; to the Sauras, as the form of the Sun.
He was like Time to time itself, death to death, terrifying even to fear.
Serpents adorned him with beautiful garlands, musk, and the radiance of poison.
He was charming, wearing a garland of jasmine, and the delightful stream of Gaṅgā.
He was unified, five-faced, his pairs of eyes shining like lotuses.
His lower lip was enchanting, surpassing even the bandhu-jīva flower.
O Maheśvarī, at that moment all boundaries were transcended by Maheśa.
