प्रेषयामास कृष्णस्य क्रोडे चन्दनचर्चिते
He sent her, adorned with sandalwood, into Krishna’s embrace.
नर्तनं कारयामास तं च काचिद्बलेन च
He made her dance, and compelled her with some force.
कांचित्कृत्वा तु नग्नां च कस्यैचिदंशुकं ददौ
He made one of them naked, and gave her a garment to cover herself.
तस्याश्च कबरीं रम्यां सुनिर्माणं चकार ह
He arranged her beautiful hair with great care.
अतिसूक्ष्मं चन्दनेन्दुं कौतुकात्तदधो ददौ
Out of amusement, he placed a very fine sandal paste and moon-shaped mark below.
वह्निशुद्धांशुकं चारु परिधार्य्य प्रयत्नतः
She carefully wore a lovely garment purified by fire.
दत्त्वा च मालतीमालां चुचुम्ब च पुनः पुनः
After giving her a garland of jasmine, he kissed her again and again.
प्रददौ नासिकामध्ये दुर्लभं गजमौक्तिकम्
He presented a rare elephant pearl for the middle of her nose.
चकार दन्तदलनं पक्वबिम्बाधरे वरे 4.28.
He cleaned her teeth, which were set in lips like ripe bimba fruit.
बहिश्चन्द्रोदये रम्ये पुष्पचन्दनचर्चिते
Outside, under the lovely rising moon, with flowers and sandalwood applied,
भ्रमरध्वनिसंयुक्ते पुंस्कोकिलरुतश्रुते
With the sound of bees and the calls of male cuckoos heard,
पुनश्चकार शृङ्गारं गोपीनां चित्तहारकः
Again he performed acts of love that captivated the minds of the gopis.
शृङ्गारोद्रेकतस्तत्र बभूव सुन्दरो रवः
Because of the intensity of passion there, a beautiful sound arose.
बभूवुरचलास्पन्दाः पुलकाञ्चितविग्रहाः
Their bodies became motionless, thrilled with goosebumps.
नखदन्तप्रहारं च प्रचकार परस्परम्
They struck each other with nails and teeth.
श्रोणीदेशे सुकठिने नखचिह्नं चकार ह
He made nail marks on her firm hips.
दूरीभूतं सुवसनं सुवेषं सुमनोहरम्
Her fine clothing and beautiful adornments were cast aside.
शृङ्गारं षोडशविधं चकार रसिकेश्वरः
The lord of passion performed the sixteenfold acts of love.
चकारालिङ्गनं प्रीत्या कामुकीनां च कामुकः ।। 4.28.
The lover embraced the loving women with affection.
कलाभेदेन तद्भेदं कामशास्त्रविदो विदुः
Those who know the science of love understand its varieties according to the divisions of art.
निरूपितं कामशास्त्रे चकारेशस्ततोऽधिकम्
What is described in the treatise on love, the Lord performed even more.
प्रीत्यर्थमपि कर्तव्यं चकारेशस्ततोऽधिकम् शुशुभे कृष्णदेहश्च यथाऽद्रिर्गैरिकेण च
For the sake of delight, the Lord did even more; and Krishna's body shone like a mountain with its minerals.
एवंभूते पूर्णराससंभूते रासमण्डले
In this way, when the full rasa was manifest in the circle of the dance,
सुवर्णस्यन्दनस्थाश्च कौतुकात्स्वगणावृताः
Those seated in golden chariots, surrounded by their own groups, came out of curiosity.
ऋषयो मुनयश्चैव सिद्धाश्च पितरस्तथा सस्त्रीकाश्च समाजग्मुर्ददृशुश्च मुदाऽन्विताः
Sages, seers, perfected beings, and ancestors, all with their wives, arrived and watched, filled with joy.
दिव्यस्यन्दनमारुह्य शातकौम्भविनिर्मितम्
Ascending a divine chariot made of refined gold,
वह्निशुद्धांशुकेनैव वेष्टितं सुमनोहरम्
Adorned with cloth purified by fire, exceedingly beautiful,
शतचक्रं चित्रयुक्तं मनोयायि मनोहरम्
With a hundred wheels, decorated with designs, moving at will and enchanting,
समाजगाम भगवान्पार्वत्या सह शंकरः 4.28.
The blessed Lord Śaṅkara came together with Pārvatī.
पुरतः कार्तिकेयश्च स्वयं देवो गणेश्वरः
Before them was Kārtikeya, and the god Gaṇeśa himself.
