ययुश्चम्पानुगा गोप्यः सहस्राणि त्रयोदश
Thirteen thousand gopis, followers of Campa, went forth.
सर्वा बभूवुरेकत्र तत्र तस्थुः पलं मुदा
All of them gathered together in one place and stood there joyfully for a moment.
चारुचन्दनहस्ताश्च काश्चित्तत्राययुर्व्रजात्
Some, with hands fragrant with fine sandalwood, arrived there from Vraja.
तत्राययुर्गोपकन्याः काश्चित्कस्तूरिकाकराः
Some gopa maidens arrived there, their hands scented with musk.
काश्चित्तत्राययुगोप्यस्ताम्बूलपात्रवाहिकाः काश्चित्तत्राययुः शीघ्रं यत्र चन्द्रावली मुदा
Some gopis arrived there carrying betel-leaf trays; some quickly arrived there where Candravali was, filled with joy.
सर्वाश्चैकत्र संभूय सस्मिताश्च मुदान्विताः
All assembled together in one place, smiling and filled with happiness.
चक्रुः पुनः पुनस्ताश्च हरिशब्दजपं पथि
Again and again, they chanted the name of Hari along the path.
स्वर्गेभ्यः सुन्दरं दृश्यं राकापतिकरान्वितम्
It was a beautiful sight, adorned with the full moon, surpassing even the heavens.
नारीणां कामजननं मुनिमोहनकारणम्
It aroused desire in women and caused even sages to be bewildered.
अतिसूक्ष्मकलं चातिभ्रमराणां मनोहरम् 4.28.
It was extremely subtle and enchanting to the bees, supremely captivating.
शुभे क्षणे प्रविवेश राधिका रासमण्डलम्
At that auspicious moment, Radhika entered the circle of the rasa dance.
राधामारात्तु संवीक्ष्य कृष्णस्तत्र मुदाऽन्वितः
Seeing Radha approaching, Krishna there became filled with joy.
मध्यस्थां सखिसङ्घानां रत्नालङ्कारभूषिताम्
She stood in the midst of her circle of friends, adorned with jeweled ornaments.
गजेन्द्रगामिनीं रम्यां मुनिमानसमोहिनीम्
She moved with the grace of a royal elephant, enchanting the minds of sages, and was beautiful.
तलश्रोणिनितम्बानां भारशेषान्वितां पराम् बिभ्रतीं कबरीभारं मालतीमाल्यसंयुतम्
She bore the exquisite weight remaining on her hips, loins, and thighs, her hair heavy and adorned with garlands of jasmine.
राधा ददर्श श्रीकृष्णं किशोरं श्यामसुन्दरम्
Rādhā beheld Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the beautiful dark-complexioned youth.
कन्दर्पकोटिलावण्यलीलाधाम मनोहरम्
He was the abode of playful beauty surpassing ten million Cupids, utterly captivating.
परमाद्भुतरूपं च सर्वत्रानुपमं परम्
His form was supremely wondrous, utterly incomparable in every way.
वक्रलोचनकोणेन दर्शंदर्शं पुनःपुनः
With the corner of his curved eye, he glanced at her again and again.
मूर्च्छामवाप सा सद्यः कामबाणप्रपीडिता 4.28.
Struck by the arrows of desire, she immediately fell into a swoon.
कटाक्षकामबाणैश्च विद्धः क्रीडारसोन्मुखः
Wounded by the sidelong glances and arrows of love, he became eager for playful delight.
पपात मुरली तस्य क्रीडाकमलमुज्ज्वलम्
His flute fell, as did the radiant lotus of his play.
क्षणेन चेतनां प्राप्य ययौ राधान्तिकं मुदा
Regaining consciousness in a moment, she joyfully approached Rādhā.
श्रीकृष्णस्पर्शमात्रेण संप्राप्य चेतनां सती
By the mere touch of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, she regained her senses.
मनो जहार राधायाः कृष्णस्तस्य च सा मुने
Kṛṣṇa stole Rādhā’s heart, and she his, O sage.
रत्नप्रदीपसंयुक्तं रत्नदर्पणसंयुतम्
The chamber was adorned with jeweled lamps and jeweled mirrors.
कर्पूरान्वितताम्बूलैर्भोगद्रव्यैः समन्वितम्
It was furnished with camphor-laced betel and various enjoyments.
राधया दत्तताम्बूलं चखाद मधुसूदनः
Madhusūdana ate the betel offered by Rādhā.
दत्तं चर्वितताम्बूलं राधायै प्रभुणा मुदा
The Lord joyfully gave Rādhā the betel he had chewed.
राधाचर्वितताम्बूलं ययाचे माधवो मुदा 4.28.
Mādhava gladly requested the betel that Rādhā had chewed.
