तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णां च रुदन्तीं तेजसाऽन्विताम्
She shone with the color of molten gold, weeping, endowed with brilliance.
गच्छन्तं प्रति तत्रैव वाग्बभूवाशरीरिणी
As he was leaving, a bodiless voice spoke right there.
नारायणस्ते जामाता भवितेत्येव मे वचः
Nārāyaṇa will become your son-in-law—this is my word.
गत्वा ददौ स्वकान्तायै पालनाय मुदाऽन्वितः
He went and joyfully gave her to his beloved wife for protection.
व्रतस्यास्य प्रभावेण कान्तं त्रिजगतां पतिम्
By the power of this vow, one attains as a husband the Lord of the three worlds.
राधा कृत्वा व्रतमिदं श्रीकृष्णं प्राणवल्लभम्
Having performed this vow, Rādhā obtained Śrī Kṛṣṇa, dearer than life.
इत्येवं कथिता विप्र कथा गौरीव्रतस्य च स्वामिनं कृष्णतुल्यं च सा प्राप्नोति न संशयः
Thus, O brāhmaṇa, the story of the Gaurī vow has been told; she attains a husband equal to Kṛṣṇa, without doubt.
श्रीनारायण उवाच पूर्वस्तोत्रेण तां देवीं तुष्टुवुश्च दिनेदिने
Śrī Nārāyaṇa said: With the previous hymn, they praised that goddess day by day.
समाप्तिदिवसे गोप्यो व्रतं कृत्वा मुदाऽन्विताः 4.27.
On the day of completion, the cowherd women performed the vow, filled with joy.
येन स्तोत्रेण तां स्तुत्वा सीता सत्यपरायणा
By means of that hymn, Sita, devoted to truth, praised her.
जानक्युवाच सदा शंकरयुक्ते च पतिं देहि नमोऽस्तु ते
Janaki said: Always united with Shankara, grant me such a husband; I bow to you.
सृष्टिस्थित्यंतरूपेण सृष्टिस्थित्यन्तरूपिणी
You who take the forms of creation, preservation, and dissolution, and who are the embodiment of these.
हे गौरि पतिमर्मज्ञे पतिव्रतपरायणे
O Gauri, knower of the secrets of husbands, devoted to the path of chastity.
सर्वमंगलमाङ्गल्ये सर्वमंगलसंयुते
Source of all auspiciousness, united with every blessing.
सर्वप्रिये सर्वबीजे सर्वाशुभविनाशिनि
Beloved of all, seed of all, destroyer of all misfortune.
परमात्मस्वरूपे च नित्यरूपे सनातनि
Embodiment of the supreme self, of eternal and everlasting form.
क्षुत्तृष्णेच्छा दया श्रद्धा निद्रा तन्द्रा स्मृतिः क्षमा
Hunger, thirst, desire, compassion, faith, sleep, drowsiness, memory, and forgiveness—
लज्जा मेधा तुष्टिपुष्टी शान्तिसंपत्तिवृद्धयः
Modesty, intelligence, satisfaction, nourishment, peace, prosperity, and growth—
दृष्टादृष्टस्वरूपे च तयोर्बीजफलप्रदे 4.27.
Of seen and unseen forms, you grant the seed and fruit of both.
शिवे शंकरसौभाग्ययुक्ते सौभाग्यदायिनि
O Shiva, endowed with Shankara’s fortune, bestower of good fortune.
स्तोत्रेणानेन याः स्तुत्वा समाप्तिदिवसे शिवाम्
Whoever praises Shiva with this hymn on the day of completion—
इह कान्तसुखं भुक्त्वा पतिं प्राप्य परात्परम्
Here, enjoying the happiness of a beloved, she attains a husband supreme among men.
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्ते सीताकृतं पार्वतीस्तोत्रम् देवीं प्रणम्य स्तुत्वा च व्रतं पूर्णं चकार ह
Thus, in the Brahmavaivarta, Sita, having praised the goddess Parvati with a hymn, bowed to the goddess and completed her vow.
गोसहस्रं ब्राह्मणेभ्यः सुवर्णशतकं मुदा
With joy, she gave a thousand cows and a hundred pieces of gold to the Brahmins.
ब्राह्मणानां सहस्रं च भोजयामास सादरम्
She respectfully fed a thousand Brahmins.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र दुर्गा दुर्गार्तिनाशिनी
At that moment, there appeared Durga, destroyer of difficulties.
ईषद्धास्यप्रसनास्या योगिनीशतसंयुता
Her face shone with a gentle smile, surrounded by hundreds of yoginīs.
दृष्ट्वा गोपाङ्गना देवीं प्रणेमुश्च मुदाऽन्विताः 4.27.
Seeing the goddess, the wives of the cowherds joyfully bowed down.
गोपिकाभ्यो वरं दत्त्वा ताः संभाष्य च सादरम्
Having granted a boon to the gopīs and spoken to them with respect,
पार्वत्युवाच व्रतं ते लोकशिक्षार्थं मायामानुषरूपिणि
Pārvatī said: Your vow, in the form of a human by illusion, is for the instruction of the world.
