एवं पूर्णे च मासे च समाप्तिदिवसे तथा
And so, when the month was completed, on the day of conclusion,
नानाविधानि द्रव्याणि रत्नमूल्यानि नारद
Various kinds of offerings and jewels of great value, O Nārada,
तीरावृतान्यसंख्यानि तैश्च तीरं सुशोभनम्
Countless items were brought to the riverbank, making the shore splendid.
नैवेद्यैश्च बहुविधैः कालदेशोद्भवैः फलैः
With many kinds of offerings, fruits produced according to time and place,
जले क्रीडोन्मुखा गोप्यो बभूवुः कौतुकेन च
The cowherd girls, eager for play, became joyful in the water.
दृष्ट्वा कृष्णश्च वस्त्राणि द्रव्याणि विविधानि च
Seeing the garments and various items, Kṛṣṇa,
गत्वा दूरं च गोपालास्तस्थुः सर्वे मुदाऽन्विताः
The cowherd boys went far off and all stood, filled with delight.
श्रीदामा च सुदामा च वसुदामा तथैव च
Śrīdāmā, Sudāmā, Vasudāmā likewise,
चन्द्रभानो वीरभानः सूर्यभानस्तथैव च 4.27.
Candrabhānu, Vīrabhāna, and Sūryabhāna as well.
श्रीकृष्णो बलदेवश्च प्रधानाश्च चतुर्दश
Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Baladeva, and fourteen principal ones.
वस्त्राण्यादाय ते सर्वे तस्थुरेकत्र दूरतः
They all took their garments and stood together at a distance.
किंचिद्वस्त्रं समादाय कृत्वा च पुञ्जिकां मुदा
Taking some clothing, they joyfully made a bundle.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच कृत्वा विधानं मद्वाक्यं श्रुत्वा क्रीडत मन्मथात्
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: Having performed the procedure as I instructed, play here, inspired by love.
संकल्पिते व्रतार्हे च मासे मङ्गलकर्मणि
In the month prescribed for the vow, during the auspicious rite,
परिधेयानि वासांसि पुष्पमाल्यानि यानि च
One should wear garments and flower garlands appropriate for the vow.
व्रते तु नग्ना या स्नाति तां रुष्टो वरुणः स्वयम्
But if one bathes naked during the vow, Varuṇa himself becomes angry.
कथं यास्यथ नग्नाश्च न व्रतस्या भविष्यति
How will you go, being naked? The vow will not bear fruit.
चिन्तां कुरुत तां पूज्यां तुष्टाव बलिरीश्वरीम्
Be anxious about this, and worship the revered goddess whom Bali pleased.
कथं व्रतफलं सा वा दातुं शक्ता सुरेश्वरी 4.27.
How can that goddess of the gods be able to grant the fruit of the vow?
श्रीकृष्णस्य वचः श्रुत्वा चिन्तामापुर्व्रजस्त्रियः
Hearing Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s words, the women of Vraja became anxious.
चक्रुर्विषादं तोये च नग्नास्ता रुरुदुर्भृशम्
Standing naked in the water, they became despondent and wept greatly.
कृत्वा विषादं तत्रैव तमूचुर्गोपकन्यकाः
Having become distressed there, the cowherd maidens spoke to him.
गोपालिका ऊचुः निबोधयात्मानमेव स्पर्शं कर्तुं त्वमर्हसि
The cowherd girls said: Know yourself; you alone are worthy to touch these.
व्रतार्हाणि च वस्तूनि देवस्वानि च साम्प्रतम्
The objects suitable for the vow, and those belonging to the gods, are now with you.
देहि धौतानि धृत्वा च करिष्यामो व्रतं वयम्
Give us the washed garments; having put them on, we will perform the vow.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र श्रीदामा वस्त्रपुञ्जिकाम्
Meanwhile, there Śrīdāmā took the bundle of garments.
दृष्ट्वा सवस्त्रं गोपालं सर्वासामीश्वरी परा
Seeing the cowherd with the garments, the supreme goddess of all beheld him.
श्रीराधिकोवाच कदम्बमाले हे कुन्ति यमुने सर्वमङ्गले
Śrī Rādhikā said: O Kadamba grove, O Kunti, O Yamunā, all-auspicious one,
हे पद्ममुखि सावित्रि पारिजाते च जाह्नवि 4.27.
O lotus-faced one, O Sāvitrī, O Pārijāta, and O Jāhnavī,
कालिके कमले दुर्गे हे सरस्वति भारति
O Kālī, O Kamalā, O Durgā, O Sarasvatī, O Bhāratī,
