वह्निप्रक्षालितं वस्त्रं निर्मितं विश्वकर्मणा
A garment washed in fire, crafted by Viśvakarman,
पादप्रक्षालनार्हं च सुवर्णपात्रसंस्थितम्
Fit for washing the feet, placed in a vessel of gold,
इदमर्घ्यं पवित्रं च शङ्खतोयसमन्वितम्
This is the pure arghya, accompanied by water from a conch,
सुवासितं शुक्लपुष्पं चन्दनागुरुसंयुतम्
Fragrant, adorned with white flowers, mixed with sandalwood and aguru,
चन्दनागुरुकस्तूरीकुङ्कुमोशीरमुत्तमम्
Sandalwood, aguru, musk, saffron, and the finest uśīra,
रसो वृक्षविशेषस्य नानाद्रव्यसमन्वितः
The essence of a special tree, combined with various substances,
दिवानिशं सुप्रदीप्तो रत्नसारविनिर्मितः 4.26.
Day and night, brightly shining, made from the essence of jewels.
नानाविधानि द्रव्याणि स्वादूनि सुरभीणि च
Various kinds of substances, sweet and fragrant,
सावित्रीग्रन्थिसयुक्तं स्वर्णतन्तुविनिर्मितम्
Bound with the knot of Sāvitrī, woven from golden threads,
अमूल्यरत्नरचितं सर्वा वयवभूषणम्
Ornaments for all the limbs, fashioned from priceless jewels,
प्रधानो वर्णनीयश्च सर्वमङ्गलकर्मणि
The chief and most praiseworthy in all auspicious rites,
धात्री श्रीफलपत्रोत्थं विष्णुतैलं मनोहरम्
Dhātrī oil, produced from the leaves of the śrīphala, delightful to behold,
वाञ्छनीयं च सर्वेषां कर्पूरादिसुवासितम्
Desired by all, fragranced with camphor and other scents,
सर्वेषां प्रीतिजनकं सुमिष्टं मधुरं मधु
Honey, pleasing to all, delicious and sweet,
निर्मलं जाह्नवीतोयं सुपवित्रं सुवासितम्
Pure water from the Jāhnavī, supremely pure and fragrant,
इति षोडशोपचारान्दत्त्वा भक्तो मुदाऽन्वितः
Thus, having offered the sixteen services, the devotee, filled with joy,
नानाप्रकारपुष्पैश्च ग्रथितं शुक्लतन्तुना 4.26.
A garland made of various kinds of flowers, strung with white thread,
इति पुष्पाञ्जलिं दद्यान्मूलमन्त्रेण च व्रती
Thus, the votary should offer a handful of flowers, reciting the root mantra.
भक्त उवाच संसारसागरे घोरे मामुद्धर भयानके
The devotee said: Rescue me from the dreadful ocean of worldly existence, which is full of fear.
शतजन्मकृतायासादुद्विग्नस्य मम प्रभो
O Lord, I am distressed by the fatigue of hundreds of births.
प्रणतं पादपद्मे ते पश्य मां शरणागतम्
See me, who has taken refuge, bowing at your lotus feet.
भक्तिहीनं क्रियाहीनं विधिहीनं च वेदतः
One who is without devotion, without ritual, without prescribed rules according to the Vedas,
वेदोक्तविहिताऽज्ञानात्स्वाङ्गहीने च कर्मणि
Due to ignorance, if one’s actions lack the proper limbs as prescribed by the Vedas,
इति स्तुत्वा तं प्रणम्य दत्त्वा विप्राय दक्षिणाम्
Having praised him thus, bowing down and giving a gift to the Brahmin,
कृत्वा व्रतोपवासं च यदि निद्रां निषेवते
Having observed the vow and fasting, if one then indulges in sleep,
अन्नं हि प्राणिनां प्राणा ब्रह्मणा निर्मितं पुरा 4.26.
Food is indeed the life of living beings, created long ago by Brahma.
एवं यः कुरुते भक्त्या भारते व्रतमुत्तमम्
Thus, whoever performs this excellent vow with devotion in Bharata,
मातरं भ्रातरं चैव श्वश्रूं च श्वशुरं सुताम्
Mother, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and daughter—
इति श्रीब्रह्मववर्ते महापुराणे श्रीकृष्णजन्मखण्डे नारायणनारदसंवादे एकादशीव्रतनिरूपणं नाम षड्विंशोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the twenty-sixth chapter, entitled 'The Description of the Ekadashi Vow,' in the dialogue between Narayana and Narada, in the Sri Krishna Janma Khanda of the Sri Brahmavaivarta Mahapurana.
श्रीनारायण उवाच गोपीनां वस्त्रहरणं वरदानं मनीषितम्
Sri Narayana said: The removal of the garments of the gopis and the granting of boons was desired.
