He saw Him dark-hued, four-armed, peaceful, enchanting, the beloved of Lakṣmī.
His face was slightly smiling and gracious, eager to bestow favor upon devotees.
He was served by the foremost chiefs of attendants, with white fly-whisks.
He was surrounded by Sunanda, Nanda, Kumuda, Pracaṇḍa, and others.
Seeing the Lord in such a form, he bowed down in reverence, prostrating himself.
O friend of the distressed, Lord of the utterly afflicted, ocean of compassion, O Master!
O Creator of the Vedas and their branches, O Originator, O Self-born One!
You are the destruction of the destroyer, the Lord of all, the cause of everything.
You are devoted to rescuing those who, having sought refuge, are afflicted by sorrow and fear.
Even Śeṣa, with a thousand mouths, would become speechless trying to praise You.
The Vedas, the authors of the Smṛtis, and even Speech herself are unable to praise You.
When the twenty-eighth Manu and Indra have passed,
By the mere opening of whose eyes, their destruction takes place.

This hymn to Hari, the Supreme Self, was composed by Durvāsas.
Whoever, afflicted by hardship, recites this with devotion and self-control,
At the king’s gate, in the cremation ground, in prison, or in the midst of fear,
Surrounded by royal armies, or when the boat is sinking in the great ocean,
Thus, in the Śrī Brahmavaivarta Purāṇa, the hymn to Śrī Kṛṣṇa composed by Durvāsas is concluded. Having heard the sage’s praise, the Lord, who is affectionate to His devotees,
Śrī Bhagavān said: Yet always listen to My words, which are true and bring happiness.
Knowledge arises for others too, by hearing scripture from the mouths of the virtuous.
Action that is opposed to the Veda is utterly condemned by all.
In the Purāṇas, the Vedas, and the Itihāsas, O Brāhmaṇa,
I am the very life of the Vaiṣṇavas, and the Vaiṣṇavas are my very life.
Abandoning sons, grandsons, wives, kingdom, and even wealth,
There is no one dearer to me than my devotees—not even Lakṣmī or Śaṅkara.
Not the Brāhmaṇas, not the Vedas, nor the mother of the Vedas is higher than them.
Thus everything has been spoken—true, essential, and real.
Those fools who hate me, deprived of knowledge and deluded,
And those who hate my devotees, who are dearer to me than life itself,
