भज ब्राह्मण गोविन्दं स्मर तस्य पदाम्बुजम्
O brāhmaṇa, worship Govinda and remember His lotus feet.
व्रज शीघ्रं च वैकुण्ठं वैकुण्ठः शरणं तव 4.25.
Go quickly to Vaikuṇṭha; Vaikuṇṭha is your refuge.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे व्याप्तं कैलासं चक्रतेजसा
Meanwhile, Kailāsa was pervaded by the brilliance of the discus.
दग्धा ज्वालाकरालैश्च सर्वे कैलासवासिनः
All the inhabitants of Kailāsa were burned by the fierce flames.
दृष्ट्वा चक्रं दुर्विषहं शंकरः करुणानिधिः
Seeing the unbearable discus, Śaṅkara, the ocean of compassion,
तेजः सत्यं तपः सत्यं यदि चेच्चिरसंचितम्
If the accumulated power of my austerity and truth is real,
पार्वत्युवाच ममाशिषा महाभीत्या शीघ्रं भवतु विज्वरः
Pārvatī said: By my wish, out of great fear, let him quickly be free from fever.
इत्येवमुक्त्वा कृपया विरराम शिवा शिवः
Having spoken thus out of compassion, Śivā and Śiva ceased.
गत्वा वैकुण्ठभवनं मनोयायी मुनीश्वरः
The lord of sages, with his mind, went to the abode of Vaikuṇṭha.
ददर्श श्रीहरिं विप्रो रत्नसिंहासनस्थितम्
The brāhmaṇa saw Śrī Hari seated on a jeweled throne.
श्यामं चतुर्भुजं शान्तं लक्ष्मीकान्तं मनोहरम्
He saw Him dark-hued, four-armed, peaceful, enchanting, the beloved of Lakṣmī.
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यं भक्तानुग्रहकातरम् 4.25.
His face was slightly smiling and gracious, eager to bestow favor upon devotees.
पार्षदप्रवरेन्द्रैश्च सेवितं श्वेतचामरैः
He was served by the foremost chiefs of attendants, with white fly-whisks.
सुनन्दनन्दकुमुदप्रचण्डादिभिरावृतम्
He was surrounded by Sunanda, Nanda, Kumuda, Pracaṇḍa, and others.
एवंभूतं प्रभुं दृष्ट्वा दण्डवत्प्रणनाम च
Seeing the Lord in such a form, he bowed down in reverence, prostrating himself.
दीनबन्धोऽतिदीनेश करुणासागर प्रभो
O friend of the distressed, Lord of the utterly afflicted, ocean of compassion, O Master!
वेदवेदाङ्गसंस्रष्टुर्विधातुश्च स्वयं विधे
O Creator of the Vedas and their branches, O Originator, O Self-born One!
संहारकर्तुः संहारः सर्वेशः सर्वकारणः
You are the destruction of the destroyer, the Lord of all, the cause of everything.
शरणागतशोकार्तभयत्राणपरायण
You are devoted to rescuing those who, having sought refuge, are afflicted by sorrow and fear.
शेषः सहस्रवक्त्रेण यं स्तोतुं जडतां व्रजेत्
Even Śeṣa, with a thousand mouths, would become speechless trying to praise You.
श्रुतयः स्मृतिकर्तारो वाणी चेत्स्तोतुमक्षमा 4.25.
The Vedas, the authors of the Smṛtis, and even Speech herself are unable to praise You.
मनूनां च महेन्द्राणामष्टाविंशतिमे गते
When the twenty-eighth Manu and Indra have passed,
तस्य पातो भवेद्यस्य चक्षुरुन्मीलनेन च
By the mere opening of whose eyes, their destruction takes place.
इत्येवं स्तवनं कृत्वा पपात चरणाम्बुजे
Having thus offered this praise, he fell at the lotus feet.
दुर्वाससा कृतं स्तोत्रं हरेश्च परमात्मनः
This hymn to Hari, the Supreme Self, was composed by Durvāsas.
यः पठेत्संकटग्रस्तो भक्तियुक्तश्च संयतः
Whoever, afflicted by hardship, recites this with devotion and self-control,
राजद्वारे श्मशाने च कारागारे भयाकुले
At the king’s gate, in the cremation ground, in prison, or in the midst of fear,
वेष्टिते राजसैन्येन मग्ने पोते महार्णवे
Surrounded by royal armies, or when the boat is sinking in the great ocean,
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्ते दुर्वाससा कृतं श्रीकृष्णस्तोत्रं समाप्तम् मुनेश्च स्तवनं श्रुत्वा भगवान्भक्तवत्सलः
Thus, in the Śrī Brahmavaivarta Purāṇa, the hymn to Śrī Kṛṣṇa composed by Durvāsas is concluded. Having heard the sage’s praise, the Lord, who is affectionate to His devotees,
श्रीभगवानुवाच किं तु मे वचनं नित्यं शृणु सत्यं सुखावहम्
Śrī Bhagavān said: Yet always listen to My words, which are true and bring happiness.
