The demon spoke to Śrī Hari, his lips trembling with anger.
The demon said: Today I will send you to the abode of Yama.
You have come, desiring life, to my Tālavana, O child.
Neither Kaṃsa, nor Jarāsandha, nor Naraka is equal to me.
Indeed, Shiva, the agent of destruction, is not capable of destroying me.
After breaking my palm trees and causing the fruits to fall,
Who are you? Tell me the truth, O boy, charming and exceedingly beautiful.
Having spoken thus, the powerful one placed him on his head and propelled him.
He threw him down to the ground and struck him with his horns.
The demon, with his horns broken, provoked that lord in anger, O sage.
His face scorched by the radiance, he seized him at that very moment.

Crushing his tail, he made a terrifying sound.
The mighty one propelled his strength with his head.

He threw him down to the ground, crushing him again and again.
Just as pain would arise in the demon from a blow of a sword,
The Lord uprooted Govardhana and struck him down.

Seeing the mountain flying swiftly, Madhusudana
Out of amusement, he placed that mountain back in its original place.
With great speed, he rose up and tightly bound Hari.
Seizing Shri Hari with force, the mighty demon placed him upon his head.
For one prahara, their battle continued, fierce and without distinction.
Again, for a muhūrta, their fight took place upon the earth.
The son of Bali, my devotee, is blessed—his life is truly supreme.
The sight of me is the seed of well-being, the highest cause of liberation.
Having spoken thus, Shri Krishna remembered his supreme discus.
He whirled and hurled the excellent discus with sixteen spokes.
